How Department of Transportation decide to expand road? The hwy I-275 and I-75 in Tampa was 3 lanes each way. After 3 years of constructions, they hwy do not have any additional lanes. What they did was fixing the shoulder lanes and resurface the roadway. I think they the hwy need at least 5 lanes each way. I drive 20 miles to work takes me 1hr 15 minutes. At downtown tampa, hwy I-275 has 2 lanes, hwy I-4 has 2 lanes, they merge together and become a 3 lanes. It takes you 15 minutes just to get pass this couple miles of merging. What the hhellll are they thinking? why they spent so much time and money just working on the shoulder lanes? Are they all stuuupiid iidioots woring for Florida Department of Transportations?
Why does TX Department of Transportation send you a new license plate after 8 years? We got one this week and it weirded us out. Plus, it was a LOT of work to take the old one off and put the new one on since the screws rusted through and broke. REALLY annoying.

I currently have an expired registration on my car and my father (current title holder) wants to transfer the title to me. Illinois Department of Transportation denied my claim for pothole that blew out my tire. What can I do next? I am very upset that the Illinois Department of Transportation denied my claim and reimbursement of an 8 inch deep pothole in the right hand lane at the 1800 west block of North Ave. (Route 64) in Melrose Park Illinois on Feburary 10, 2008 even after I submitted several picture of this pothole and all the hubcabs surrounding it (approximately 20). I submitted this claim in March and I just recieved a letter today about it. In the letter it states: Dear Sir, Thank you for your patience during the investigationof your vehicle damabe claim by our Region 1 Claims Committee. The department is only able to reimburse for claims when it is deemed negligent and liable according to strict criteria established by the Illinois Court of Claims. In order to be liable , the standards required the department to have prior notice of a condition and failed to respond to that condition within a reasonable period of time. The standards also considering the effects of adverse weather events, snow&ice emergencies, staffing and availability of resources. The Court has consistently held the department is not a general insurer of motorist traveling on the state highway system. The burdens of the winter season have been many and continue to impact the general condition of interstate, highway, and local street systems. The department continues to repair defects as soon as possible given current budgetary constraints. Then General Assembly is considering a long-term capital program which, if approved will provide funds necessary to expedite permanent repairs and needed improvements. Our records indicate the receipt of a claim for vehicle damage which occurred on or about 2/10/08 near 1815 W. North Avenue - Melrose Park. Our records also indicate the department had been engaged in emercency snow and ice operations and emergency pothole patching almost continuously during the season. While we certainly can appreciate the inconvenience and expense you may have sustained , we do not find the department negligent in the performance of its duties and must respectfully decline payment of your claim. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. We are sorry for any loss or inconvenience you may have experienced. Can I sue The Illinois Department of Transportation when my vehicles rust??? They been laying down salt on the roads for over a day now. Salt and metal does not get along very well. Salt always wins. I'm begining to think they have a contract with the auto makers. The auto makers pays the state to spread salt so vehicles rust. Then the public is forced to buy newer vehicles. They could make vehicle out of plastic. Big trucks are. Ever seen a rusty Peterbilt or Kenworth? I have failed to see one yet. The salt also tears up the roads and the state is forced to do more maintance which leads to higher taxes. The salt eventally ends up on the side of the road. That attracts deer. Deer loves to eat salt with their big rear ends on the right-of-way. Will the state buy me a new vehicle when I hit Bambi? I did not ask the for dirty roads. BTW My driveway is clean and will be clear of ice and snow tomarrow when the sun comes out.
