is it really true that people with ocd are generally intelligent? Recent research has revealed a possible genetic mutation that could be the cause of OCD. Researchers funded by the National Institutes of Health have found a mutation in the human serotonin transporter gene, hSERT, in unrelated families with OCD. This research has found that: Sufferers are generally of above-average intelligence, as the very nature of the disorder necessitates complicated thinking patterns.
Professional hairstylists!....how can you get ahold of a remi hair transporter? I want to find someone who has real remi hair. I wish I knew the someone in Chattanooga, Tn or Atlanta, Ga that could sell to me. I am by no means concerned with price. I just want real human hair that is remi. Is there an online database for professional stylist or are there any particular hair shows that definately has the "hair carriers" there? Please help!
God had to get to Earth did he use Mary as a kind of transporter/conversion unit? God wants to come to earth so he gets transported and is converted into a human at the same time by using a young woman as a transporter/conversion unit....this is a very strange idea to swallow. Reply to poetofdem...: No Mother is dead and she was cremated, that's all I know. She certainly hasn't been back to visit since.
If you go through a matter transporter, is it still you? Okay, this is strictly hypothetical. Just for fun, that is. The only criterion for getting Best Answer is to make me say "Hmmm...Interesting." Got it? It's the distant future, and scientists have just perfected a matter transporter that allows humans to travel great distances at essentially the speed of light. It works by rapidly encoding every bit of information about the atoms that make up your body (down to the tiniest quantum detail), then disintegrating you, beaming the information to your destination, and reassembling you atom-for-atom. I know, I know...it's pure fantasy. But here's the question: Is it still YOU? Does it have your memories, your hopes, your dreams? Or is it just a copy of you, albeit a remarkably precise one? What do you think, folks? If it's NOT you, is that person still accountable for your debts? If a murderer travels through the matter transporter, can he or she still be tried for murder, even though it's not the "same person"?
Does the concept of teleportation violate the law of conservation of energy? Since you'll be magically transported from point A to B without traveling, its impossible unless energy is put into the transporter and it will take enormous amounts of energy to transport a full grown human being from one place to another without traveling (moving). I just dont see how teleportation could ever work. Remember we are distinguishing sending data and humans through thin air (radio waves).
Biology what is substrate, L transporter & Amino Acids question? I need someone (who understands biology) to explain the paragraph below in laymans terms. with regard to what it could mean in Human pregnancy, if the same were to happen as in mice and rats etc. i.e how important are the large amino acids, what is their job, what is an L transporter and is the paragraph below saying that it's job is inhibited by the drug. Is it a good thing that it doesn't bind to plasma proteins? "Pregabalin does not bind to plasma proteins. The apparent volume of distribution of pregabalin following oral administration is approximately 0.5 L/kg. Pregabalin is a substrate for system L transporter which is responsible for the transport of large amino acids across the blood brain barrier. Although there are no data in humans, pregabalin has been shown to cross the blood brain barrier in mice, rats, and monkeys" If someone could put an explanation after each sentance that would be great, i know it's a lot to ask but I ask the question for personal reasons which I am sure you can draw your own conclusions from. Thank you very much.
If you could travel by transporter would you? Long before Scotty started beaming away teams down to alien planets. There was a movie made in 1958 called "the fly" starring al hedison. I am a lover of old b-movies like this. I grew up on them. Spent (wasted) a good part of my life watching them. In watching "the fly" the scientist steps into his transporter, but neglects to see the fly in with him. The machine cannot distinguish between his atoms and the flys,so it integrates them into one. Turning the scientist in to a half human half fly creature. Far far into the future I'm sure these imperfections will be corrected ans travel by transport will be safe for humankind. like flying in a airplane. But I'm sure some people would be afraid of being taken apart molecule by molecule converted into energy and re assembled where ever it was they were going. Givin all the benefits and dangers of traveling this way, would you do it? Knowing that there was a 1 in 1.000.000.000 (billion) chance you may not arrive, or re assembled into some horrible mismatch of human body parts???
bored, so i made another awesome survey? here goes: 1. Why are you dancing? 2. Why did you flip off that old lady? 3. moped or Segway Human Transporter? 4. favorite television program? 5. lefty or righty? 6. Will you adopt this squirrel? http://www.oldetowneanimalhosp.com/images/squirrelbaby1.jpg
Could I please get some feed back on this paper? APA format, How is the writing, Should it have more info etc. Modern day slavery also known as “human trafficking.” Traffickers look for individuals who are poor, unemployed, or families that are in high debt, mainly women and children in certain countries. Victims are convinced with false promises of a good job and a better way of living, and then forced to work under abusive and inhuman conditions. Victims of trafficking are brought into the system through several means. Most victims of trafficking today come from three populations. First, parents may sell children to traffickers in order to pay off debts or gain income. Second, runaways or other displaced persons may be picked up by traffickers. Third, people who are seeking entry to other countries may be picked up by traffickers, and typically are misled into thinking that they will be free after being smuggled across the border. Definitions may very base upon that cultural variation of the crime. In the United States, when people think of human trafficking, they often refer to the illegal practice of migrant smuggling. They picture illegal immigrants from countries like Mexico or China arriving into the United States by way of freight trailer or cargo boat in search for job opportunities and freedom. Human trafficking is defined as sex trafficking in which commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or in which the person forced to perform such an act is under 18. The recruitment, transportation, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force or fraud, for the purpose of subjecting that person to involuntary hard labor, high debts owed, or slavery. Men, women, and children worldwide were bought, sold, transported, and held against their will in unsafe and abusive conditions. Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing forms of commerce and crime throughout the world. While men, women, and children are trafficked throughout many countries into forced labor situations in sweatshops and agricultural sites, the majority of victims are women and children trafficking into the sex trade for the purpose of prostitution, sex tourism, pornography and other sexual services. Most recent Department of States estimates indicate that 700,000 to million women and children are trafficked each year across the world, 50,000 of them into and within the United States (Chauang, J., 2006). The International Organization for Migrations (IOM) estimate the rate could be much higher, stating that as many as two million men, women and children were trafficking across borders in 2001 (IOM website, 2003). Illegal aliens look for the help of “traffickers” to be transporter into another country, mainly the United States. Traffickers, work in small, large, or highly organized groups, arranging for everything from transportation to fake identification, visas, passports and work documents for the aliens. While the conditions of transportation may be unknown, “smuggled” aliens knowingly and willingly enter the destination country to work or find work, they agree to being smuggled. However, a smuggling relationship may allow the opportunity for the smuggler to alter the relationship to trafficking. Persons who seek the help of smugglers often become victims of trafficking, in the destination country or en route. When victims have never consented to being smuggled are either kidnapped or deceived with false employment offers. Traffickers make a profit between seven billion and ten billion dollars a year globally, and it is know as the third largest source of illicit trade, behind guns and narcotics. According to U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, the intelligence community predicts that revenue from trafficking “will outstrip the illicit trade in guns and narcotics within a decade.” (Chauang, J., 2006). History Early trafficking efforts focused on white slavery. In 1904, the International Agreement for the Suppression of the White Slave Traffic was created, although very few countries signed it. In the following decades, the focus on trafficking continued to be on women and children who were sold into prostitution. The first concerted international effort to combat trafficking came in 1949, with the U.N. Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and of the Exploitation of the Prostitution of Others. Like other such conventions before it, the document focused on the trafficking of women and children for prostitution. The U.S. at the same time was undertaking its own efforts to combat global human trafficking. In 2000, Congress passed the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act (also referred to as the Trafficking Victims Protection Act), the first U.S. law to comprehensively address the various aspects of human trafficking. The act included measures to help those who were trafficked and to increase punishment for traffickers, as well as to bolster other countries' efforts against trafficking. President Bill Clinton (D, 1993-2000) signed the act in October 2000, hailing it as "the most significant step we've ever taken to secure the health and safety of women at home and around the world." With regard to dealing with those who have been trafficked, the law represented a turnaround in policy. Previously, those found working illicitly were treated as criminals. The 2000 act changed that, treating those people as victims of a crime and seeking to help rather than punish them. Under the act, victims can be given a special visa, called a T-visa, allowing them to stay in the U.S. for up to three years if they would face hardship upon deportation. In return, the victims agree to assist in the investigation and prosecution of the traffickers. (As of March 2004, 448 victims of trafficking had been granted a T-visa.) The U.S. has also cracked down on Americans who may contribute to trafficking abroad. For example, Congress has passed legislation under which Americans who travel overseas to frequent child prostitutes, known as "sex tourism," can be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison. And the Defense Department has also established a "zero tolerance" policy toward U.S. servicemen who may contribute to human trafficking overseas. In addition, individual states have also begun to pass human trafficking legislation. Texas and Washington State were the first two states to pass such legislation, and Arizona and California are considering similar legislation. Why do they keep making unbelievable sci-fi TV show? aliens that look like humans, transporters, faster then light space ships. That is not scifi. Thats fantasy. I really hate it when they try to mix comedy with scifi. Its never funny. When they do make a show that is somewhat plausable the stories are lame, like Jake 2.0.
Is Human teleportation a reality? Was just browsing wikipedia (I'm a saddo I know) and I came across this - A transporter is a fictional teleportation machine used in the Star Trek universe. Transporters convert a person or object into an energy pattern (a process called dematerialization), then "beam" it to a target, where it is reconverted into matter (rematerialization). The term transporter accident is a catch-all term for when a person or object does not rematerialize correctly. Which was fine, but then I stumbled across this - In August 2008, physicist Michio Kaku predicted in Discovery Channel Magazine that a teleportation device similar to those in Star Trek would be invented within 100 years. Which made me think "wtf?" I mean how would it be realistically conceivable, especially within 100 years, if it did take off it'd be amazing. But I don't see the logic in it. Can anyone please - in lamen's terms, science is not my strong point - explain the reality in this
Christians: What function does the human brain perform? If the brain is responsible for cognition, and it decomposes after death, then surely no afterlife is possible? Of course, the laws of science aren't really important when you add an omnipotent overlord into the mix, who could simply grant you life without the need for a brain. Quite convenient. To analogise: There's a law in quantum mechanics called the Heisenberg uncertainty principle which states that position and momentum cannot be simultaneously known to arbitrarily high precision. You could probably appreciate how this could be an issue in the Star Trek universe, what with teleportation requiring precision. So you know what they've done? The Star Trek writers simply wrote that the transporters had a 'Heisenberg compensator'. They didn't explain how it works, or what it is (aside from compensating for the Heisenberg principle); it's literally just a add-on to the transporters that makes the laws of quantum mechanics expendable. Quite genius of the writers, if you ask me. Isn't that exactly the same as what you've done regarding death? The cold hard facts of witnessing a body decompose obviously scare you, so you've compensated for that by inventing an omnipotent being to take care of it. Again, awfully convenient. Fireball, then surely your ability to 'figure out things' would be gone after your brain has decomposed?
Two major events happen in the next 200 yrs, we harness fusion power, & create a transporter. What happens to. religion. The world has all the free energy it needs, and anything can be moved instantly to wherever it's needed. Hunger ends. Poverty soon after that. Borders fall. Communication between humans is instantaneous. Social classes disappear. "Haves" and "have-nots" are a distant memory. Education is free to all. Life is no longer about work, but the improvement of the individual. The pursuit and creation of knowledge, art, music, literature, architecture, science, etc takes center stage. People are free to recreate and explore the world as they desire. Nature is revered. Outer space becomes the new frontier. What happens to gods and religions?
Help with chem unit conversion question? Nanotechnology, the field of trying to build ultrasmall structures one atom at a time, has progressed in recent years. One potential application of nanotechnology is the construction of artificial cells. The simplest cells would probably mimic red blood cells, the body's oxygen transporters. For example, nanocontainers, perhaps constructed of carbon, could be pumped full of oxygen and injected into a person's bloodstream. If the person needed additional oxygen-due to a heart attack perhaps, or ror the purpose of space travel-these containers could slowly release oxygen into the blood, allowing tissues that would otherwise die to remain alive. Suppose that the nanocontainers were cubic and had an edge length of 25 nanometers. (a) What's the volume of one nanocontainer? (Ignore the thickness of the nanocontainer's wall) (In liters) (b) Suppose that each nanocontainers could contain pure oxygen pressurized to a density of 86 g/L. How many grams of oxygen could be contained by each nanocontainer? (c)Normal air contains about 0.28 g of oxygen per liter. An average human inhales about 0.50 L of air per breath and takes about 20 breaths per minute. How many grams of oxygen does a human inhale per hour? (assume two significant figures) (d) What's the minimum number of nanocontainers that a person would need in their bloodstream to provide 1 hour's worth of oxygen? (e) What's the minimum volume occupied by the number of nanocontainers computed in part D? (f) Is such a volume feasible, given that total blood volume in an adult is about 5 liters?
Anyone one know physics or Quantum physics? Here is the thing. There was a man who was working on building a transporter (like in Star Trek). He actually trasnported half a leaf two feet apart. It was not complete nor intact completely but it was transported. Now, I know it is difficult to transport a human due to the complexity of the human genome and the improbablity of accurately scanning an atom. However, the new theory is to "copy" the subject and transplant it in another area and then erasing the original. Now, how is this transportation? It makes no sense. Killing the original and cloning it to another location is not transportation. How in the world does this work? There has to be a way that can break down the the human form and then re-animate it to another location. I find it irritating that they call copying the original and then printing it while killing the original is transportation. Anyone else agree, disagree? I have taking physics for 4 years, and I am appauled by this theory.
Do you think that Jesus was a humanoid shaped teenage alien who just wanted to have some fun with humans.? Repost from religion and spirituality sections There has been many theories that our gods could had been aliens from another planet. With a more technological advance race as ours would humans who thought that your lord in the sky (ie outer space) could had been teenager aliens looking for kicks and fooling humans into believing that they were gods? Was the ressuection of Jesus just advance medical knowledge and his rising into the heavens the use of tractor beams, was Marys virgin birth alien adduction and artificial insemination, was Jesus mirages usage of transporter and replication technology?
Too much sex and nudity in video games and films? Why is it that there is so much sex and nudity that is not needed in videogames and films? For gods sake its getting right on my tits now. I really dont want to see all this flesh all the time, its not needed and most of the time it's not relevant to the video game or film anyways. Why has the world become so perverted towards rape, sex, nudity etc? Sex is over rated anyways. It really annoys me when I buy a film that looks good or video game to have it spoiled by some stupid sluts swanning about with all out to see or an orgy of people humping etc... One example being that piranah 3d .. i mean WTF? I snapped the disk within 5 mins of the film, crank and crank 2 ....transporter 2 etc i mean wtf? Its not needed!!!! ....Human beings are just perverted pigs .... Why do they have to think sex sells? I have watched many a good movie and played many a good film that have been "clean" all the way through so why cant they make most films clean instead of forcing this nudity and sex on us, its bloody offensive!!!! I have found PG films to also have strippers in them such as short circuit 2!!!!! Even 15 rating films have been pretty disgusting, so you cant always go by the rating. I too also check imbd but there isnt always a description of the sex or nudity in there. I also have imbd on my phone to check where I can. But if I am at a mates house and they put an offensive film on I get up and walk out as I really dont want to see all that crap.
Physics Whizzes: Inertia, Matter and Rate question? Physics Whizzes: Inertia, Matter and Rate question? This question comes from Star Trek. Don't get me wrong; I know it's not real, and it defies so many laws of physics, it's not Science Fiction, it's Science Fantasy, but bear with me, if you will. Sulu and Kirk are falling to the surface of the planet without a parachute. The terminal velocity of a human body in free fall is approx. 160 mph (we won't go through the trouble of hypothesizing the gravitational forces of Vulcan nor it's atmospheric density and mass :D) A crew member on board the Enterprise then locks on transporters to our forlorn heros and transports them to the transporter pads aboard the Starship Enterprise; thus, they were broke down to the molecular level and reformed on the transporter pad. There, they materialize about 2' above the transporter pad and fall with a small thump. What happened to their rate of travel and their accumulated inertia? If such an operation were actually possible (ha ha), would this operation of breaking down the falling object to its molecular level then reassembling it negate the inertia and rate of travel, or would Kirk and Sulu end up a bloody pool of pulp on the transporter pad?
what do you think of this story beginning? Christopher Prince of the Sky Prologue- Over the land of Vlaganara on the ninth month on the ninth day at 9:00 something happened, an eclipse of the rarest kind. All 8 planets lined up blocking all light. The Emperor of the sky, who only talks to the all female race of phoenix, sends his son through a lightning bolt to the ground near a phoenix village. As blue smoke and light drift away, a baby is revealed with a note. Dear inhabitants of Vlaganara, This is my son, Christopher. He is here to aid you in a great battle that will happen about 20 years from now. Almarn and his Seven Faithful will use dark magic to create war between your peace keepers, the elves. My son will rise to the challenge, for he is a great warrior. Until then he will be disguised as a transporter. Farewell, Emperor of the Sky Twenty or so years later it has begun. The arguments have started at the elven capital of Selvin Rurel. Who should have leadership, should the inhabitants of Vlaganara vote or should their be a rotating colony leadership? The four different colonies of elves are secretly trying to gather allies but know one will join their cause because know one wants to get in the middle of an elven battle. There said to be fierce and terrifying. Only an elf would survive it. Also everyone is scared because if the peace keepers are fighting then they will be to busy to keep the peace and everything will be dragged into war with them. A young elf of the Northern Colony who’s father is one of the ambassadors of the senate has realized what’s happening and on one freezing cold winter night, he sneaks away with intentions to gather everyone in Vlaganara and overthrow the elves before they make a decision that will ruin their world for eternity. In ten minutes time guards were after him with orders to kill. Quil, the unsuspecting ambassadors’ son rides deep into the knight, his breath fogging up in front of him. He wrapped his cloak tighter around himself and kept riding. On and on the knight stretched, Quil was very tired but the eerie look of the dark wet forest made him keep going. After hours upon hours of riding the guards began to catch up to him. Quil heard a faint pounding. To any human it would nothing but forest noises but to Quils trained elf ears it was hoof beats, dulled by the muddy ground but still noticeable. Quil twisted in his saddle and through the trees he could make out three guards stringing there bows and knocking there arrows. Terrified Quil bent low over his horse and took a sharp turn into the forest and off the path. Leafy branches whipped and cut his face as he weaved in between the trees. The guards, now close behind him released their deadly stream of arrows that whistled past his ears dangerously, forcing him to change directions again. Then, before the guards turned the corner he leapt from his horse into the low hanging branches of a tree. They raced by without so much as a glimpse at Quils hiding spot. Once he confirmed they were gone he headed back the way he came in search of the road and the Transporter city.

Need help finding an obscure movie? Help please, have this movie on my mind. It may be Canadian, British, or american. OK hope my memory serves me well. this story is about this delivery guy who picks up a stranded woman on the side of the road. no, not a slasher film. He delivers the package to a "mad scientist" this scientist can now open portals to another dimension. the thing looks like a one man star trek transporter anyway there is an "accident" the scientist, then the girl then the guy in that order. when the guy falls through it's been two months since the scientist first fell in. The guy meet these suppressed refugees, some look human some look like blue star trek aliens minus antenna. this particular blue skinned dude uses red glowing orbs that comes from a vine that get hot and are used to start camp fires. one of the group is a small time thief and he likes the guy's watch, when the alarm goes off he tell the thief that it let's him know there is a thief near by. (as a joke.) OK back to the plot seams straight forward: guy goes though portal, finds damsel living in ragtag group dominated by warlord who then kidnaps damsel. He leads group of would be rescuers to warlord's lair to find the scientist working for the warlord. the 3 race back to where they showed up at. they vanish back to the real world leaving the thief alone. he was promised the watch by the guy so he says, Hey what about the watch? I don't know the name and it could be some what classified as sci fi Fantasy. i saw it on cable between 81 and 85 i guess. it could have been 70's ish too. any help would be grateful. Sorry, when i say 81 to 85 i mean the years. if only i could find just one of those cable channel guides similar to tv guides.

going back to school with felonies? #1 Report Inappropriate Post Today, 07:50 PM ostieb New Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Posts: 1 Going back to school with a felonies -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, my name is Omar. I am 25 years old. I had a drinking problem that I have overcome . To sum it up in a nutshell 3 years ago, while drinking i blacked out and spit on a parametic while i was being taken to the hospital. I do not remember the whole ordeal. However i was charged and convicted of aggravated battary. I also have two dui's and a felony for criminal damage to property. I have never done any jail time. I have turned around my life and am now commited to return to school. My question is, what can i go to school for? I work at a hospital as a patient transporter and love working there but i know healthcare is out of the question. I cannot work anywhere where i will be providing a service to another human being directly. healthcare, education, are out of the question. Many job titles also require licensing which would be a road block for me also. I want to go to school for computer information systems. I figure i will be allowed to work on databases and networks faster than being a nurse. Accounting, marketing, finance, basically business degrees are all degrees that i believe i can pursue and hopefully gain employement in after enough time has elapsed since my felony's. Its either continuing my education or going blue collar and working as an electrician or something along the lines of that. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I am young my friends? Such an odd place I find myself. Well it's familiar enough, the wall won't stop ticking and the crumbs on the floor restrict my movement. All is well but well is not good enough! Ah! There is that place right in the crease of my wall where I could lay and sit at the same time with my mind up and my body low, low, melting into the crevice and spilling under the door crack, I slide and slither and find my way to the door oh the knob so shiney and close but my liquified arms are so weak. I will jump I will jump I will jump and reach the cold transporter. Letting myself sliver outside to find the air so cold and freezing my body so stiff I am stuck now. No longer liquid, a solid human unable to break the ice
Indiana Jones Redo! Is it time? Fans, We all saw the crash and proverbial burn of the latest installment of the Indiana Jones sequel starring Harrison 'Icon' Ford and newbie Shia LeBeouf. The movie IJ4-Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a disgrace to the franchise. Lucas should be ashamed! That said, .... .. . ., Q 1. Should Lucas and his minions refocus the franchise literally with a new angle entirely? Q 1 example: re-introduce the Jones lead as a new, younger, more athletic version of the aged predecessor. Q 1 Example: re-make the Jones lead as a new VISUAL. All past icons be it Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Maguire's Spider Man, Bale's Batman, Chris Evans' Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth's Thor have all been redone, rebuilt, and generally made FRESH for today's audience. Q 2. We all saw IJ4 with an aged Ford taking on bad guy after bad guy with super-human finesse like he was a spring chicken from 1981 back in the day! Shia LeBeouf swinging on vines with monkeys = that was completely UNBELIEVABLE: yes? no? Q 3. Who as a fan, would like to see integrity and honor re-established with the franchise with an entirely NEW ANGLE, and NEW ACTOR? Q 3 Example: Merely as an example, have say Jason Statham cast as the new lead, but NOT as Indiana Jones per se, but rather a long-lost son! Say for fun's sake named Harrison Jones! Go with me on this please: think OUTSIDE the box please. Q 3 Example: have Harrison Jones don a new outfit, say a high-tech 2019-esque adventure gear complete with a titanium-alloy whip lighter and faster than that throwback, leather whip of decades past. Let the new direction take the franchise to new horizons perchance on OTHER planets: if anyone can do it, Lucas and Hollywood can do it! Remember think OUTSIDE the box. Think Avatar mixed with Transporter mixed with Indiana Jones, but all along a franchise vein-honorable to the franchise tag of Indiana Jones! Q 4. YOUR TAKE on how the franchise can be rebooted and saved for future generations?
MMA Fans ** What's your top 5 actors that you think they could have make good MMA fighters!? Of course it's a hypothetical question and we can't mention ex champions in a martial art or a sport, like Chuck Norris,Jet Lee or Dolph Lundgren (Drago from Rocky) no ex champions. They need to be straight actors but the ones who have practice martial arts but have never compete in a major competition or tournament, like Steven Seagal can be included! My top 5 in specific order 5. Wesley Snipes, the Blade 4. Adrian Paul from Highlander series,he is Ace in martial arts! 3. Bruce Willis / Steven Seagal a tie, yeah baby lol! 2. Jackie Chan / Arnold Schwarzenegger , the 7 times Mr. Olympia can be included because bodybuilding is not a martial art! 1. JASON STATHAM,THE TRANSPORTER RULES GUYS LOL! PS Bruce Lee can't be included because we can not include Gods only human beings :)
Old Trekkies, what do you think of the New Star Trek movie? Here are my thoughts. It's obvious from the numbers coming in that Star Trek has a future, or at least, a sequel in its future. After watching the new Star Trek film, my thoughts drifted back to Superman Returns which while paying omage to the classic Superman films of the 80s, didn't feel like a continuation of them. In the same way this new movie pays omage to the classic series while still not feeling like a continuation of what's come before, even if it's not intended to be, strictly speaking, as a prequel. Nevertheless, it still wants to be accepted by fans as genuine Star Trek. But it didn't feel like it to me. When i think back to my favorite episodes of Star Trek, i think of universal themes regarding the human condition, philosophical/moral dilemmas, morally ambiguous situations and confilcts, problems requiring character-driven solutions, or talents. None of that here. Star Trek to me is more than just warp engines, transporter technology, and the infamous trek logo on everypiece of costuming and hardware. It involves a type of storytelling that blends humanity with morality. Star Trek is the space franchise that affects mind and heart. This film succeeds at producing an adventurous thrill ride with stunning visuals, but that was always Star Wars' forte. This film doesn't deliver on what was promised, a history of the origin for the characters from the original series, instead, it creates a new timeline featuring these characters, which it rewries in order to create a new history. My lastest script.. please check it out...i still need a name for it? OK so, the year is 3441BC, the setting.....Tokyo. The people of earth are being threatened by an ancient plague that no one coudve foreseen coming, even the writers of the story. The special plague causes humans to slowly mutate into various speciaes of monkey or green goo. There is no means by which peeps can preditc which you will turn into..goo or monkey . Soon a full scale galactic war breaks out between the monkeys and the goo (then some porn) Finally the enterprise shows up and they figure out a way to use the transporter to turn everyone back into humans again, and there is much rejoicing then some more porn its time for the enterprise to leave for starbase 47, but Picard wants to stay with the remaining monkeys. They leave him behind, but he is quickly killed by the remaining green goo. what do you think? btw, u can check out my other script here... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj9BW3IXUlt94AaLY.SzOwjty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071228141045AAUWjAP
Quick chemistry help please? :/? Problem; Nanotechnology, the field of trying to build ultrasmall structures one atom at a time, has progressed in recent years. One potential application of nanotechnology is the construction of artificial cells. The simplest cells would probably mimic red blood cells, the body's oxygen transporters. For example, nanocontainers, perhaps constructed of carbon, could be pumped full of oxygen and injected into a person's bloodstream. If the person needed additional oxygen-due to a heart attack perhaps, or for the purpose of space travel-these containers could slowly release oxygen into the blood, allowing tissues that would otherwise die to remain alive. Suppose that the nanocontainers were cubic and had an edge length of 23 nanometers. 1) What is the volume of one nanocontainer? (Ignore the thickness of the nanocontainer's wall.) 2)Suppose that each nanocontainer could contain pure oxygen pressurized to a density of 86 g/L. How many grams of oxygen could be contained by each nanocontainer? 3) Normal air contains about 0.28 g of oxygen per liter. An average human inhales about 0.50 L of air per breath and takes about 20 breaths per minute. How many grams of oxygen does a human inhale per hour? (Assume two significant figures.) 4)What is the minimum number of nanocontainers that a person would need in their bloodstream to provide 1 hour's worth of oxygen? thanks so much.
What would you do if the President told you that woere going to be abducted? Just a question that came into my head. I wanted to see what people would do if this happened. The president, and agents from the FBI, CIA, and the entire alphabet comes over to your house. They make you swear secrecy, and tell you that the very next day, that you are gonna be abducted by aliens. They are running a type of test on you. It will be somewhat painful, but if you aggree to co-operate, you will be tax-free for the rest of your life, be granted $50,000 a year forever, and given a $75,000 house on your choice of location. They say that you will be testing a new transporter beam that will be more comfortable for humans to use, you will have a surgical test performed on you, and you will test a new computer program that puts you into a computer program. They ask "So will you agree to allow us to do this to you?" What would you say?
What do you think of my poem? Hello thanks for taking the time to read this. The following poem is one which I have entered for the Poetry Live competition, and I just wondered if you could give me your opinion on it please. The human condition What of us apes, An epidemic case called the human race, We be with two arms, And two of these transporters, Opposable thumbs for flipping those quarters, A little thing called our ticker, So no need for any grave digger, All that Vitamin D make them too happy, The rest gotta rely on some cocoa bean, That be feeding our addictive personality, What a shame it be cloggin up your artery, Every one of us the same we would be, Were it not for a little thing called reality, A concept of the human mind, Another symptom of our kind, It gives words to my tongue, It helped me grow from being young, Although I may be a strange contraption, I don’t really mind this human condition.

Could evolution have a plan for humans- if so, what? Our brains are wired to be curious, ingenuitive, and much more. I have a theory that humans are "designed" by evolution to be the "transporters" of life (much like how seeds evolve to spread) - to spread the seed of life into space in case of some catastrophic event beyond the Earth's power to avoid. At the same time I believe we have been distracted by toilsome endeavorers (the stuff our economies are made of) I know this might sound nutty to some but Carl Sagan had similar thoughts. I know evolution doesn't think, but look at a sprout, see how it follows the sun? Well, now just imagine that if the entire organism that is Earth (the thing that gave birth to all life on it) has similar tendencies as a single plant or animal, a "force" guiding it towards survival. Sure we may be screwing up, but there's no guarantee a species will fill its niche (purpose). I brought this up to a Christian friend and he told me that if he's wrong about the existence of his God that maybe that's why we long for places like Heaven, and why we feel we're "stewards". Your thoughts? How do we know that evolution doesn't have directionality? got a link? Thanks!

what is the title of this book? I don't know if anyone will be able to help me but I'm losing my mind because I read an excerpt of this book online a couple of weeks ago and now am interested in reading the book, but of course I can't remember any information that would help me search for it. I would say that the genre was paranormal and the excerpt was from the first chapter. Some apocalyptic event occurred on earth (massive earth quake, continents shifting?). There were few survivors but of those who survived some were paranormal creatures who now revealed themselves to humans. The main character was a heroine and she was some sort of transporter. She had to go down to the docks to pick up a package for her current employer. It was pouring rain, the guard stops her, flirts with her a little, offers to let her wait inside with him because they still have to finish unloading the boat but she declines. She drives down the dock, something similar to goblins bring down the package. These goblin like creatures were apparently the slaves or very low ranking workers in this paranormal universe. The giant box that they bring down is completely wrapped in chains and you get the sense that something living is inside the box. I actually think there might have been an angel in the box. Please someone help me!!!
HAS STARGATE COPIED FROM STAR TREK? I love stargate and I love star trek both are great shows and produced great stories, they had some original ideas and some it would seem not original. My question is this: did stargate steal technology and story idea from star trek?? For example: TRANSPORTERS: Star trek didn’t exactly invent them but they are there first show you think of when you think of them. Stargate didn’t use ships like star trek did they had the stargate but now they have star ships and transporters just like star trek. MULITY-UNIVERSE: Star trek tos had an episode called mirror, mirror, this was also used in next generation or sorts and also in deep space nine. (Contrary to popular belief not in voyager) now SGA & SG1 uses the idea!!! ASCENDED BEINGS: The Q-continuum could be considered to be ascended beings that had unlimited powers and living on the higher plane of existence., the used a diner to gas station and a dirt road to represent their home to voyager in and in deep space 9 the wormhole profits were similar. In stargate they have the Ancients who used a diner to represent their home to Daniel and they have powers beyond that of normal human beings. Is it me or have they stories in stargate been a reworking of some star trek episode???? Disclaimer: this is my question and the above stuff is just my explanation of what my question is about, a form of my question if you like. Yahoo Q&A’s and others seem very picky of how questions are asked, and some people get the wrong idea of a question if not asked correctly.

RACISM is beautiful, TELL ME WRONG>>>>>? The secret to beating the level of racism is to become a racist yourself.. race is the only perception of a problem dividing people in reality, but it's not a problem. There are flaws with every race, so you must see and accept the flaws of each race to rise above the judgments. To deny anything is to create negative energy. So here is my breakdown of race. BLACK PEOPLE = are lazy when it comes to work, because they are masters of creation, they would prefer to have fun creating life with their time than go to work, like a monkey in the jungle they are wild and free. History says they were tricked to leave the jungles of Africa to work for the white man. Crime is also a way to have fun, most black people get away with the crimes they commit, except for drug dealers who get greedy and don't know when to quit. People of South America are also dark skinned and are like a new version of black people. WHITE POEPLE = they are the most recent version of human beings, and were created to work, work, work, and worship their imaginary creator. They write books and invent stuff. In the current version of reality and since the day I was born they have been doing all the work while black people have been reaping the benefits. So they really were working for black people when they took them out of Africa, they were the transporters for blacks to claim their Kingdom in this new world. Accept that any history that you learned about black people before you were born is told from the white perspective to suit their version of reality, same can be said for history told from the black perspective. In my perception ALL history is just a fantasy story created from the question"What was?". The only history I accept as my truth is my own personal experience since the day I was born, and before that nothing existed. I have been alive since the beginning of time. Everything that has ever happened, all happened within my lifetime and is just perceived as before me. It all happens in my imagination, like software programming. To create the perception of 10,000 years ago all I have say is "it happened 10,000 years ago", when the truth is everything happens right now inside my mind, it's all programming. INDIANS - They are also master creators and live on the highest level of creation, they are also from the jungle. Raising themselves to higher levels of experience resulted in them creating a story of the white man to come in kill them and take their land, but in their reality none of them died, they just ascended to a higher level and left the white man with a copy of the land to work on for the black people to come and claim it in this current new world order. Indians fly Spaceships and exists on energy levels much higher than the reality you know right now. ASIANS - They are technology and manage all the money of the world. All the money is in digital form now, not gold or paper. They have light skin so naturally that means they also work like slaves, but happy slaves. ARABS are a religious version of Asians, created to fight white people... religious mind slaves fighting mind slaves is needed to advance technology:) SPANISH/MEXICANS- They love drama, and thats their purpose. To work and have family drama. Drama is negative energy, there is no such thing as a 60% positive Spanish person. They worship white people, so that puts them on a lower level than white people.
Have you seen this? It defies the concept of progressive "linear" civilization, and the Evolutionary Model… http://www.svn.net/gp/opentomb.htm Plato stated that there were former advance civilizations predating his times that made his civilization “appear as an infant” (rudimentary)... it appears from these Egyptian hieroglyphics of space craft, a helicopter and other anti-gravitical vehicles and transporters that there once existed a former global technoculture having highly advance technologies predating our ancient history; and indicating that human civilization may actually be recurrent and cyclic. Evidence appears to indicate that former global technocultures were annihilated by “transterrestrial” periodic cosmocataclysms that wiped away the all evidence of the former civilizations and returned a small remnant of post-catastrophic survivors back to a state of Neobarbarism to begin the slow and incremental process of "recivilization" all over again. “All truth passes through three stages: First, it is ridiculed; Second, it is violently opposed; and Third it is accepted as self-evident.” -Arthur Schopenhauer (1788 01860) Inference to former advance technologies riddles the entire ancient record… The evidence was wiped away by periodic cosmocataclysms that assaulted the Earth (and will again) with mass celestial bombardment, incineration and knocked the Earth off its axis… hence “fossilization” of species occurs in MUD, the oceans displaced out of their basins due to INERTIA and overran the continents creating what is called the Fossil Record and the Geological Column. Cremo and Thompson fully documented the ancient technological artifacts in there monumental book “Forbidden Archaeology” that erodes the conventional scientific thought. Mathilda… “You should read the description of the Iron Thunderbolt that blew up the Rishi cities in the Hindu epic 'the Mahabharata'. Also 'Indra's Bow'. ‘...a single projectile charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and flame As bright as the thousand suns Rose in all its splendor... a perpendicular explosion with its billowing smoke clouds... ...the cloud of smoke rising after its first explosion formed into expanding round circles like the opening of giant parasols... ..It was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death, which reduced to ashes the entire race of the Vrishnis and the Andhakas. ...The corpses were so burned as to be unrecognizable. The hair and nails fell out; Pottery broke without apparent cause, and the birds turned white.’"

What things would you have changed within each of the five major Star Trek series? If I could change things within Star Trek: This is what I would do: Star Trek: the Original Series: Write the series so that there was no encounters with any other Earth like planets. Star Trek: the Next Generation: Write the series to be a little more arc focused rather than being episodic. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Re-write the first three seasons to be a little less boring and dorky. I would also re-write the final episode so that it had more of a fulfilling and believable conclusion, too. Star Trek: Voyager: I would have written Tom and Harry into becoming the leaders of an elite flying squad of (Delta Flyer) shuttles. These ships could have stayed in a newly modified and expanded shuttle bay within the Voyager. I also would have spent more time developing the characters more, too. Star Trek: Enterprise: I would have called this series Star Trek: Pheonix instead. In addition, I also would have hired an entirely different cast that could dazzle us with their acting skills. Furthermore, I also would have made the century look a lot more primitive looking and less technologically advanced (as mentioned in the other TV series). In other words: there would have been no phasers, no view-screens, and no transporters. There would be nuclear missiles as a starship's primary weapons, a more primitive looking ship, and an all human crew. ...
How does this plot sound so far and are the chapters too short? I know everyones always 'It doesn't matter about the length' but seriously, one of my chapters is 111 words long, and I really think that's too short. Do you get to chose the format of the book when publishing with someone? If you do then, because all of them are quite short I was thinking of going for the type of book where it's not a new page every chapter, they're all just chunked together. Like in Misery by Stephen King for example, I think it was misery anyway, one of stephen king's books. I have written 10 chapters and that is just over 4000 words. So the plot is fantasy. It's very fantasy. What it is is there used to be this world where everyone lived, humans, fairies, vampires, trolls and every creature that there ever was and most will be mentioned. But the humans wanted their own planet because they though they were better than the rest and took Earth. When they left the creatures started to fight and using magic they split their world to make two of them, one where ones that could blend into the world went (vampires, fairies (they can look normal on earth even though they have pinkish skin) and all them) and on the other world is the ones who would never manage to go onto Earth (trolls, cyclops) The vampires decided they were better than the rest and decided they would rule their world (which in the end I named Thera) and the other world were all at peace with themselves (I called that one Reath). Thera don't like the humans for thinking their better so they want to get revenge on them but they aren't much in strength so they want Reath to help but Reath don't like Thera and won't let them on their planet to help so don't know of this plan. They are all connected by magical Transporters and each have a house on earth where it is connected even if Reath can't go outside sometimes they go to watch the humans live. They want someone who is innocent to travel to the other world and help them get revenge (they tell the girl that they want to rejoin the planets and live in peace so she'll help) That is the prophecy thing (don't know if that's the right word) and the book is set in 2012 Summer There is a girl (who is for now called Lesley Harrison (what do you think of that? I can get a new one easily but won't need help on suggestions)) and she welcomed into the world (that's as far as I've gotten in the chapter minus the prophecy) Whats going to happen is she goes to the world and help them join the planets together with all the little twists or something along those lines. Then I'm planning a sequel for after she's finished and the prophecy thing happens. Does it sound like anything you've read before apparently everything I write sounds like something even when most of the time it's totally different)? Would you read it? And don't steal! In the sequel they attack the world and at that time its December 2012, aka this is my version of the end of the world but I don't know if they'll over come the creatures or all die. Also theres part of the book where they speak in their own language. The fairy language that I just make up as I go along which is going to be hard as I can't use the same word twice. I am interested my own writingness!

Postulate the possible hypotheses of the PKC regulation mechanism for the both the hSVCT1 and hSVCT2.? Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) activates protein Kinase C (PKC), which in turn phosphorylates other proteins. Experimental data showed that the transport capacity (Vmax) of the cloned human vitamin C transporter 1 (hSVCT1) was reduced to 57% by PMA (from 1150± 28 to 660± 21 pmol per mg protein per min), but the Km was remained almost the same ( 65± 5 and 64± 7µM). Additional experiments revealed that the hSVCT1 protein on the plasma membrane was reduced from 12.1± 1.5 to 5.5 ± 1.6 % by the PMA. For the cloned human vitamin C transporter 2 (hSVCT2), the transport capacity (Vmax) was reduced to about 69% (from 320± 21 to 220 ±16 per mg protein per min by the PMA) with little change in Km (from 29± 7 to 33± 9µM). No reduction in hSVCT2 at the cell surface was observed after the PMA treatment (12.2 ± 2.4 % at the cell surface after the PMA treatment compared with 12.4 ± 1.8%) Use your knowledge on Km and Vmax as well as the membrane transport to interpret the nature of your findings. You should look into: 1)The function of PKC in signal transduction. 2)PKC phophorylation site (motifs) on proteins. 3)The subclass members of PKC. 4)PKC effect on membrane targeting of other transport systems. 5)Address the significance of
Can you name some reasons to go vegetarian? ONE HUNDRED & ONE REASONS TO GO VEGETARIAN People Land Air Water Efficiency Animals Health PEOPLE Every year in the UK we feed our livestock enough food to feed 250,000,000 people while in the world 30,000,000 people die of starvation 20 vegetarians can live off the land required by one meat eater Every 3 seconds a child dies of starvation somewhere in the world If Americans reduced their meat consumption by 10% it would free 12,000,000 tons of grain - enough to feed 60,000,000 people (the population of Great Britain) If all Americans became vegetarian, it would free enough grain to feed 600,000,000 people (the population of India) Intensification in animal farming has displaced 1,000,000's of people from their traditional lands - eg. indigenous people in south & central america, native americans in north america & crofters in Great Britain - this is continuing today People displaced from their lands into cities succumb to dietary deficiency, diseases, parasites & opportunistic diseases In third world countries 1 in 10 babies die before their first birthday The UK imports £46,000,000 worth of grain from third world countries to feed our livestock Due to overgrazing 850,000,000 people live on land threatened by desertification & over 230,000,000 already live on land so severely desertified that they are unable to sustain their existence & face imminent starvation 1,000,000,000 people in the west gorging on meat & dairy leave 1,000,000,000 to waste away & 3,500,000,000 teeter on the brink LAND If they continue to clear American forests to raise cattle at the present rate, in 50 years there will be none left 1 acre yields 165 lbs of beef or 20,000 lbs of potatoes 8/10 of cultivated land in the UK is used to grow food for animals (14,732,000 hectares) It takes 16lbs of high protein soya to produce 1 lb of beef Since 1945 in the UK we have lost 95% of flower meadows, 50% of ancient woodlands, 40% of heathlands, 50% of wet lands & 224,000 km of hedgerows all due to animal farming Pressure on land due to meat farming leads to soil erosion 6billion tons/year in the USA If everyone went vegetarian upto 90% of land used for animal farming could be taken out of production & used to replant woodlands, leisure activities etc. 25% of Central america's forests have been destroyed for cattle grazing since 1960 Between 1966-1983 38% of the Amazon rain forest was destroyed for cattle grazing 90% of cattle ranches established on cleared forest land go bankrupt in less than 8 years as the land becomes barren due to nutrient loss & overgrazing Overgrazing by cattle is destroying the land & increasing desertification, nearly 430 million acres in the USA alone has suffered a 25-50% reduction in yield since first grazed An inch of topsoil takes 200-1000 years to develop - yet in the USA they have lost around 1/3 of their prime topsoil in 200 years (around 7 inches) due to animal farming Land will be lost due to rises in sea level due to global warming due to animal farming AIR The destruction of the rainforest by cattle farmers is destroying the lungs of the planet & reducing the worlds capacity to replenish our oxygen supply The 1,300,000,000 cattle in the world emit 60,000,000 tons of methane per year (methane is a greenhouse gas & leads to global warming) Burning of forests, grasslands & agricultural waste associated with animal farming releases 50-100,000,000 tons of methane per year Combining these figures, 25% of methane emissions are due to animal farming (not including the billions of sheep, pigs & poultry so the real figure is much higher) Fertilizer used to grow crops to feed to animals releases nitrous oxide - thought to account for 6% of the greenhouse effect Fertilizer, weedkiller & pesticides sprayed on crops enter the atmosphere creating a noxious carcinogenic cocktail CFCs are released into the air from refrigeration units used to store decomposing flesh (meat), milk & butter - CFCs are destroy the ozone layer Ammonia from animal urine also pollutes the atmosphere CO2 is released by burning oil & petrol in lorries, ships, abattoirs, dairies, factories etc. associated with meat & dairy production Emissions from large chemical plants which produce fertilizer, weedkiller & other agricultural chemicals are also poisoning our air WATER 25 gallons of water to produce 1lb of wheat & 2500 gallons to produce 1lb of meat UK farm animals produce 200,000,000 tonnes of slurry (liquid excrement) every year, the majority of which ends up in our rivers Bloody waste water from abattoirs ends up in our rivers In the USA every second humans produce 12,000 lbs of effluent while farmed animals produce 250,000 lbs Nitrates & pesticides used on crops grown to feed livestock end up in our rivers Meat & dairy farming uses 70 litres of water per day per animal in the UK or 159,250,000,000 litres per year in total The water used to produce 10 lbs of steak is equivalent to the average consumption of water for an entire household for an entire year Depletion of groundwater reserves to grow crops for animals & to supply abattoirs will lead to greater water shortages Aquafers (stores of underground water) in the San Joaquin valley in the USA are being drained at the rate of 500,000,000,000 gallons/year to produce meat 18% of all agricultural land in the world is irrigated & as global warming increases (partly due to animal farming) it will cost $200,000,000 to keep these systems going The water used to produce a 1000 lb beef steer is enough to float a Destroyer battleship The liquid waste from the various parts of the meat & dairy industry flow into the rivers & from there into the seas polluting them & encouraging huge algal blooms to grow EFFICIENCY To produce 1calorie of energy from meat takes 60 calories of petrol, whereas growing grains & legumes to directly feed people produces 20 calories for each calorie of fuel used ( thats 1200 times more efficient) Meat & dairy farming uses billions of gallons of oil to run tractors, fuel ships & lorries (to move animal feed & animals), pump billions of gallons of water to irrigate fields & run slaughterhouses, power refrigeration units to prevent the corpses from decomposing & to power sewage plants to clean up some of the pollution produced Cattle convert only 6% of their energy intake (mainly grains & soya) into flesh, the remaining 94% is wasted as heat, movement (which is why they keep many animals in very close confinement), hair, bones, faeces etc 1lb of beef takes 1 gallon of petrol to produce A family of four eating beef for a year uses enough petrol to run a car for 6 months (obviously depending on how far you drive!) If the full ecological cost of meat was passed onto the consumer - the price would be quadrupled (at least) The EC spends œ100,000,000's to subsidise animal production resulting in lakes of unwanted milk & mountains of unwanted meat & butter. This money could be better spent encouraging organic fruit, vegetable & grain production In the USA in 1979 145,000,000 tons of crops were fed to cattle resulting in only 21million tons of animal bodies - the cost of the wasted crops was $20,000,000,000 Between 1950 & 1985 grain production in Europe & the USA increased massively but 2/3 was fed to animals 70% of all grain is fed to animals Eating vast quantities of animal flesh, eggs, milk & butter is a luxury that most of the planet can not afford ANIMALS Fishing with drift (and other modern) nets weakens & destroys ecosystems by indiscriminately killing billions of sea creatures & disrupting the sea bed Fishermen's nets kill 10 times as many other animals as the fish they are hoping to catch Fish caught in nets die an agonising slow death of suffocation Each year 15,000,000,000 land animals are slaughtered for food & an unknown but much larger number of sea creatures (including 1000's of dolphins caught accidentally) Chickens are crammed into battery cages with upto 3 other birds, they are unable to even spread their wings & many can not even stand up Unwanted male chicks (because they can't lay eggs) are gassed or pulped while their sisters go to the battery sheds Chicks are debeaked without anaesthetic to prevent them injuring each other in the unnaturally confined conditions they are kept in - this is equivalent to having your fingernails pulled out without anaesthetic Modern farming methods using growth hormones & artificial lighting mean that many chickens out grow their bones, resulting in fractured & broken legs Sows are kept tethered in stalls 1.3 x 1 metre on concrete or slatted floors - they can not even turn around Poultry raised for meat are kept in windowless broiler sheds, with around 20-30,000 in each shed, they live in an area of 10-20 cm square - fighting due to overcrowding is common & like battery hens they commonly suffer from supperating bed sores Broilersheds are artificially lit 23 hours a day to produce rapid growth Animals travel between farms & to slaughter in overcrowded transporters with no food or water - resulting in stress, injuries & deaths - legal requirements are widely ignored 95% of poultry suffer injuries before being killed & 30% suffer broken bones Problems with stunning practices mean that many animals have their throats slit while still conscious (around 6% of cattle or 200,000 per year) & are then dipped in tanks of scalding water (to loosen feathers, bristles etc.) again while fully conscious 4000 animals die spurting their blood out every minute in a British slaughterhouse Calf leather comes from animals killed at just 2 weeks old Cows were fed on the ground up remains of other cows & sheep - the result is thought to be BSE (mad cow disease) in the USA cattle are fed partly on recycled plastic pellets Cows only give milk for 10 months after they have a calf - so they are routinely artificially inseminated (ie. mechanically raped) to keep them pregnant & milking - their calves are taken away (usually at 12 hours old) for meat or export to veal crates Cows would naturally live upto 20 years but are slaughtered after 5-7 years when their milk production begins to fall In the UK animals are killed by first being stunned with electricity or a captive bolt gun (ie. a bolt is fired into their heads) before having their throats slit & being plunged into boiling water - all this happens on a production line with the animals being hung upside down from a moving conveyor belt - this is factory farming "Animals are those unfortunate slaves & victims of the most brutal part of mankind" - John Stewart Mill (philosopher) Veal calves are confined in stalls in the dark, unable to move & are fed on pigs blood , chocolate & dried milk (we are drinking the rich fresh milk of their mothers) Cows naturally produce 5 litres of milk per day for their calves - under the intensified systems of modern farming they produce 25-40 litres per day - resulting in swollen & inflamed udders - at this rate they are soon worn out Large areas of land are under monoculture to grow crops to feed to animals - these areas are wildlife deserts supporting fewer & fewer species. HEALTH Vegetarians have a 20% lower rate of mortality from all causes (ie. they live longer & don't get sick as often) Meat is full of traces of antibiotics, hormones, toxins produced by stress & pesticide residues that become concentrated from all the crops they have eaten Fish contain heavy metals & other pollutants -many of which originated on farms The world health organisation recommends a diet low in saturated fat, sugar, salt & with plenty of fibre - exactly what you get on a vegan/vegetarian diet Farmed animals contain upto 50% saturated fat in their bodies Vegetarians have 24% reduced risk of getting heart disease & Vegans a 57% reduction (heart disease is the biggest killer in the UK accounting for 50% of deaths) Obesity is rare in vegetarians, obesity is related to many diseases Vegans & vegetarians have lower blood pressure & cholesterol levels - high levels are associated with heart disease, strokes & kidney failure Vegetarians have a 50% reduced risk of dying of diabetes Vegetarians have a 40% reduced level of cancer than the general population thought to be because they have a higher intake of vitamins A,C & E Vegetarians have a reduced risk of developing gall & kidney stones 80% of food poisoning is due to infected meat (faeces, bacteria etc.) after all meat is decomposing flesh - most of the rest is due to salmonella in eggs Osteoporosis due to calcium loss from bones is mainly due to the sulphur content in meat & casein protein in milk that cause calcium to be lost in the urine - the countries with the highest meat & dairy consumption are those with the highest levels of brittle bones 50% of people do not have the enzyme to digest milk properly & milk allergy is related to asthma & eczema Meat eaters have double the rate of Alzheimers disease as Vegans & Vegetarians - some people also think that Parkinsons disease is also linked to meat eating Egg yolk is a dense concentration of saturated fat & the white is high in albumin protein associated with leaching calcium into your urine. Butter is 80% saturated fat, cream is 40% saturated fat & cheese is 25-40% saturated fat Meat eaters are two and a half times more likely to get bowel cancer than Vegetarians The cling film used to wrap meat in supermarkets & butchers contains chemicals linked to falling sperm counts in men Chinese people (living mainly on a vegetarian diet) consume 20% more calories than Americans but Americans are 20% fatter Of 2,100,000 deaths in the USA in 1987, 1,500,000 were related to diet (ie. meat & dairy) AND I COULD GO ON ! If you've read this far, I hope that you are beginning to see that the Meat & Dairy industry is a major contributor to misery on this planet. It is destroying the health of people in rich countries, starving those in poor countries, it is torturing & killing billions of animals every year and in the meantime it is one of the major factors in the destruction of the environment - so what does the meat & dairy industry have to say in it's defence? Well their only real point is usually "Meat is tasty" - fair enough a lot of people enjoy the taste of meat - but there are plenty of delicious alternatives (just consider the huge range of vegetarian dishes in Indian cooking - one of the oldest & most sophisticated cuisines in the world) and if you really crave meat & dairy, nowadays there are plenty of healthy non animal alternatives - just look in the supermarket & health food shop. So I hope you will agree it's pretty pathetic to consider all the evidence & then say "well I know you're right about the environment & health & the animals - but I just love my meat" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note: ARC is @nti-copyright throughout - Copy and distribute any part as you wish. Parallel Trouble Adventure (1999) Sasami: Mahō Shōjo Club (2006) Tenchi Muyo! (天地無用!, Tenchi Muyō!?), is an anime, light novel, and manga series about a boy named Tenchi Masaki and the alien women who loved him. The original series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki, is a six episode OVA (Original Video Animation or Direct-to-Home Video) series; released in Japan in 1992–93. As its popularity grew, it spurred a seventh episode (also known as the Tenchi Special) and the stand alone Mihoshi Special. In 1994-95, the second OVA series was created and released, featuring episodes 8–13. From 2003 to 2005, a third OVA series was released, with episodes 14–19, centering around the three goddesses introduced in the second OVA series. This is then followed by a special twentieth episode which centered around some of the remaining plot threads towards Tenchi's mother, as well as Noike, who was introduced in episode 15. The series can be somewhat confusing too, due to it having several continuities. The Tenchi Muyo franchise has a manga series developed after an animated version was released, when typically the reverse is true. Tenchi Muyo! was one of the early successes for AIC, the animation company behind it, which went on to create El-Hazard, Battle Athletes, Oh My Goddess!, Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure and many other anime series. The main artist for the series is Masaki Kajishima. The name of the manga is a play on words. Tenchi muyō (天地無用, Tenchi muyō?) in Japanese means "This way up", a phrase written, for example, on boxes to show they should not be upturned. 無用 muyō also means "unnecessary", thus with a lead character "Tenchi" this name could also mean "unnecessary Tenchi", more often translated to "No need for Tenchi" (even so far as the episode titles for the first TV series to have the running gag of having the titles start with "No need for...") The name 'Tenchi' also means 'Heaven (or the sky) and Earth' so one could also take the title to mean "No Need for Heaven and Earth." Ryo-Ohki, Tenchi TV/Universe, and Tenchi in Tokyo. The first series, TM!R, is the original OVA (Original Video Animation) which introduces the core characters. Tenchi TV/Universe and Tenchi in Tokyo are spin-offs that utilize the same characters, with the addition of Kiyone Makibi, though the back story is quite different from the original OVAs. The first of the spin-offs was Tenchi Muyo! TV (also known as Tenchi Universe), in 1995; it is a twenty-six episode TV series that retells the original series differently. This anime was one of a few anime to be broadcast on PBS member station KTEH in San Jose, California.[citation needed] [edit] Tenchi Muyo! OVA series, Kajishima canon Main article: Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki The canon accepted by series creator Kajishima is as follows: Animation Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA 1 (episodes 1-6) Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA 1 Special, The Night Before the Carnival (episode 7) Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA 2 (episodes 8-13 + the bonus episode 13.5) Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 3 (episodes 14-19) Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 3 Special (episode 20) Tenchi Muyo! GXP: Galaxy Police Transporter Other Materials Shin Tenchi Muyo! Jurai (novel, tells of Azusa's life from a boy to the events in episode 13) Shin Tenchi Muyo! Yosho (novel, tells of Yosho's life from a boy until he defeats Ryoko on Earth) Shin Tenchi Muyo! Washu (novel, tells of Washu's life from when she was found 20,000 years ago through the loss of her child to politics. The death of her friend Naja is not discussed.) Tenchi Muyo! GXP 01 (novel, novel form of the TV series with very little NB) Tenchi Muyo! GXP 02 (novel, 2006 release) Tenchi Muyo! GXP 03 (novel, 2006 release; contains lots of stuff not seen in the anime) Various dōjinshi from Kajishima Various interviews with Kajishima The book 101 Questions and Answers of Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Oh-Ki (also titled 101 Secrets) [edit] Tenchi Muyo! OVA series, Hasegawa canon Naoko Hasegawa, writer of episodes 3 and 5 the first OVA series, uses a different continuity, which includes the following: Animation Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki OVA 1 (episodes 1-6) Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Galaxy Police Mihoshi's Space Adventure (also known as the Mihoshi Special), though except for the framing sequence, much of the story is as an exaggeration by Mihoshi and is not considered canon. Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Manatsu no Eve (Tenchi Muyo! Daughter of Darkness) (movie 2) Other Materials Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki Manatsu no Carnival (radio drama) A series of 13 novels by Hasegawa, including the Manatsu no Eve book upon which the movie was based upon. A few characters from OVA 2 (episodes 8-13.5), such as Tokimi, Emperor Azusa, and Empress Misaki, make appearances in Hasegawa's novels. However, the episodes and events from OVA 2, as well as episode 7, do not take place in Hasegawa's canon. Hasegawa also worked on the TV series, which includes her characters Kiyone and (in the movies) Achika, but the TV series is not considered to be in the same continuity. [edit] Tenchi Universe, a.k.a. the Negishi canon Main article: Tenchi Universe Called the "Negishi canon", after Hiroshi Negishi, the director who was the main creative force behind the series and connecting movies, Tenchi Universe (known as Tenchi Muyo! TV in Japan) has no sentient Jurai trees, Ayeka is not closely related to Katsuhito, and Washu is the person sealed in the cave. Kiyone has a major role in this series. Also, this series has a stronger emphasis on Ryoko, as shown in the show's opening credits and in some episodes, as well as Tenchi Forever. Animation Tenchi Muyo! TV (Tenchi Universe), 26 episodes Tenchi Muyo! in Love (movie 1) Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Haruka Naru Omoi (Tenchi Forever!) (movie 3) Other Material A manga, also written by Negishi, was produced as a tie in to TMiL2, though it is uncertain if this manga is part of established Negishi canon: Tenchi Muyo! In Love 2: Eternal Memory (manga) [edit] Tenchi in Tokyo Main article: Tenchi in Tokyo Shin Tenchi Muyo! (known as Tenchi in Tokyo in English), in 1997, is a third version of the story, centered on Tenchi's high school adventures in Tokyo. It is also a twenty-six episode TV series and many of the returning main characters have been portrayed differently with some slight personality changes. Animation Shin Tenchi Muyo! (26 episodes) [edit] Movies There are also three movies: Tenchi Muyo! in Love, Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu no Eve (The Daughter of Darkness) (1997), and Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2: Haruka Naru Omoi (Tenchi Forever!), 1999. Movies 1 and 3 are intended to be in, and match with, the Tenchi Universe continuity. Movie 3 concludes the Tenchi Muyo! TV (Universe) series. The continuity of movie 2 is more complicated. It is written by Naoko Hasegawa, who co-wrote the first OVA series and wrote several Tenchi novels in Japanese; the movie is based on one of her novels. Movie 2 is sometimes believed to be in Tenchi Universe continuity because of the presence of Kiyone and because Ayeka refers to my brother's tree instead of your tree while speaking to Katsuhito. Neither of these are related to Tenchi Universe; Kiyone is present because she originated from Hasegawa's OVA-based novels, and the Ayeka line is a misleading translation. In reality, the movie is an animated version of the Hasegawa novel of the same name, and is part of her continuity. In Japanese, a name or title may be used in some circumstances where English would require a pronoun; saying "brother's tree" to Katsuhito does not mean that her brother is someone other than him. Furthermore, in the Universe series it is never demonstrated that she has a brother. Tenchi Muyo! in Love (1996) Tenchi Muyo! in Love was the first of the Tenchi films, taking place within the Universe timeline. The movie is about how the gang must save Tenchi from utter disappearance by capturing a criminal named Kain, which had traveled back in time to destroy Tenchi's mother, Achika so that Tenchi isn't born to threaten his conquest of Jurai. In order to save Achika and Tenchi, Tenchi and crew travel back in time to the year of 1970 to protect Achika. Tenchi Muyo! Daughter of Darkness (1997) Tenchi the Movie 2: The Daughter of Darkness (Manatsu no Eve) is the second Tenchi movie. The movie is about a girl named Mayuka who appears out of nowhere claiming to be Tenchi's daughter. Ryoko and Ayeka are jealous and/or suspicious, Sasami befriends her, Kiyone and Mihoshi are the same, and Washu suspects something. Mayuka turns out to have been created by the demonic villain Yuzuha, who wanted revenge on Yosho because after befriending Yosho as a child she was banished by Jurai. Tenchi Forever! (1999) Tenchi Forever! (Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2) is a continuation of the first TV series (Tenchi Universe) and sequel to the original film. After a fight between Ryoko and Ayeka, Tenchi runs into the mountains to be seduced by a beautiful woman and disappears. Six months later, he is found with a woman named Haruna and he has forgotten his previous life. [edit] Manga The Tenchi manga consists of two series, Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-oh-ki and Shin Tenchi Muyo! (the shin here means new and has no connection to the second television series, Shin Tenchi Muyo) are written by Hitoshi Okuda. They have been released in America as No Need for Tenchi and The All-New Tenchi Muyo!. Unlike most anime/manga combinations, for Tenchi the anime came first, and the manga is considered non-canon. It is based on OVA series 1 and 2. Since the manga originally began in Japan before the release of OVA 2, the OVA 2 elements are not introduced immediately at the beginning. Because the manga is non-canon, new elements introduced in the manga do not carry over to the anime. Manga series released in the US: "No Need for Tenchi" series! (Volumes 1-2, earlier half of volume 3, 4-6, first half of 7, and 8-12.) "No Need for Tenchi: Magical Girl Pretty Sammy" (Later half of Volume 3, based on the "Pretty Sammy" OVAs. Not thought of as part of the manga storyline) "No Need for Tenchi: Tenchi in Love" (Second half of Volume 7, based on the first Tenchi movie. Has characters from the Tenchi Universe timeline. Not thought of as part of the manga storyline) "Tenchi Muyō: Sasami Stories" (A collection or reprint of several of the Sasami related events that happened in the No Need for Tenchi! manga series. However, the book itself is in the new smaller format, and also features bonus comics in the back that were printed over the years. The bonus comics are not thought of as part of the overall manga story.) "The All-New Tenchi Muyō!" (Volumes 1-10; It continues the No Need for Tenchi! manga, but with a smaller page format. Introduces several new characters that weren't in the original manga.) [edit] Spin-offs The first Tenchi spinoff is the Pretty Sammy, the Magical Girl series, a magical girl series where Sasami is the lead character. The first use of Pretty Sammy was in the Tenchi Muyo! Sound File, a Japanese-only music video release. The same animation was used in the ending of the Mihoshi Special. In 1995, a three episode Pretty Sammy OVA series began, where Sasami, who is known as Sasami Kawai, magically becomes Pretty Sammy. The second Pretty Sammy is a TV series (titled in America as Magical Project S), which came out in 1996. This series is a separate continuity from the OVA series. Pretty Sammy also appears in the Mihoshi Special and in an alternate reality sequence in the Tenchi Universe series. The second is Tenchi Muyo! GXP, which was released in Japan in 2001. The series takes place during the Kajishima version of the OVA continuity, and is set a year after the events of the third OVA series despite being released first chronologically. The main character of this twenty-six episode TV series is Seina Yamada, a friend of Tenchi Masaki who accidentally joined the Galaxy Police. Many characters from Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-ohki make appearances in this series, including the use of Seiryo as a major character and a full-fledged Tenchi Muyo! crossover in episode 17. Sasami: Mahou Shoujo Club, currently shown in Japan as 2006, is recognized as the third spin-off with Sasami, known here as Sasami Iwakura, as the main character. The animation style here is saccharine compared to the other titles, but the hold over characters from the franchise (particularly Misao of Pretty Sammy) are still fairly recognizable. Other versions of Tenchi Muyo! are also available as graphic novels, video games and radio dramas. The series Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure is also thought to be related to the Tenchi Muyo universe, due to the blatant use of the "Lighthawk Wings" associated with the Jurai dynasty in Tenchi Muyo. Mecha Jinv from Dual! appear in Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Kiyone, Ramia, and Misao appear in a brief easter egg cameo in the series' OVA special, and there is much speculation concerning the ancient civilization that the character "D" is from. Kajishima has hinted that Dual! does, in fact, relate to Tenchi Muyo!. The creator of both DUAL! and Tenchi Muyo!, Masaki Kajishima, confirmed that DUAL! is in fact an alternate version of the Tenchi Muyo! universe. [edit] English adaptations distributor history The manga is published in English in North America by Viz Communications. In Singapore it is published in English by Chuang Yi as No Need for Tenchi! Pioneer USA (now Geneon Entertainment) has brought out most of the releases in the USA up to 2002. They released the Tenchi OVA series, the Mihoshi Special episode, both of the Tenchi Muyo! television series, and all three of the Tenchi Muyo! movies. Pioneer USA has also distributed the Pretty Sammy spinoff, with both the Pretty Sammy OVAs and Magical Project S TV series. On DVD the Mihoshi Special is released with Pretty Sammy, not with the rest of the Tenchi series. OVA1 and OVA2 were released on DVD in the UK in 2004. A single boxset was released in the UK which includes OVA1, OVA2 and the Mihoshi Special. When first aired in 2000 on Cartoon Network's Toonami in America, Cartoon Network did some editing to the character's lines. The girls (mostly Ryoko) often drink 'tea' throughout the series. However, their 'tea' is often poured and distributed like sake, a Japanese rice wine. Characters often begin to blush, slur their words together, hiccup, and slowly decline in their mannerisms as they chugged down their 'tea.' This was done to prevent backlash from the more conservative American audiences. The delivery of lines from the characters, however, implies that the characters are aware of the double entendre (ex.: "You can't drink THAT kind of 'tea' at school!") In addition to substituting 'tea' for sake, Cartoon Network also digitally painted swimsuits on several female character to cover up nudity during bathhouse scenes, and carried out extensive edits for language and other adult content, including references to sex, masturbation, and 'peeping'. FUNimation Productions licensed the second Tenchi Muyo! spinoff series Tenchi Muyo! GXP for distribution in the United States in 2003, and released it in 2004. FUNimation also licensed the third OVA series and released it on DVD starting July 2005. FUNimation has kept most of the original dub voice cast except for Petrea Burchard, who dubbed Ryoko's voice in the Pioneer/Geneon releases. She is replaced by Mona Marshall in the GXP and OVA 3 series. [edit] Locations Alpha – A planet from the Tenchi Muyo! OVA series, ruins on the planet were attacked by Kagato but otherwise nothing else has been seen or said of it. Balta- an autonomous planet within the Juraian territories, named after and ruled by the Balta family, which were also the rulers of the old Balta pirate guild. Beta – a planet from the Tenchi Muyo! OVA series. The only mention in the series is that several people disappeared in the planet's mystery spot once. Chobimaru – in the Tenchi Muyo! OVA series and GXP, it is a planet-sized spaceship belonging to the Kuramitsu family and operated by the Galaxy Police. Inside it has oceans, plants, and animal life along with the artificial structures. The ship also has firepower capable of destroying an entire planet. Earth - Also known as "Terra", home of the human race-and Tenchi Masaki's house is located here. Galaxy Police Headquarters - A giant space station shaped like an arc. It houses many Galaxy Police officers and acts much like a massive police station. Galaxy Academy - Three massive ring worlds together that are the size of a solar system. Many cultures and races co-inhabit this place, which houses both scientific and military schools as well as many civilian merchant areas. Jurai — The seat of the powerful Juraian Empire, the homeworld of First Princess Ayeka, and the abode of intelligent trees descended from a goddess in the anime Tenchi Muyo!. Raynza Republic - A unknown number of worlds that borders with the Juraien empire's territory, but not with the rest of the Galactic Union. Are now allies with Jurai thanks to a political marriage. Ryuten - One of Jurai's "sister planets" within the No Need For Tenchi! Manga. Aside from being a luxurious planetary resort, Ryuten is the sole proprietor of the giant trees used by Jurai's royal family. Craftspeople of the planet shape and carve the wood for use as prodigious spacecraft, with the master sculptor given the highest seat of authority. Seniwa - Home planet of the Kuramitsu family and one-time rival of Jurai. The two planets once were involved in a bitter Cold War, but have since became close allies. Tolane - A planet administered by the Galactic Science Academy, where Kagato had kidnapped Washu and taken Ryoko and Ryo-Ohki as slaves. Tokimi's Temple- Actually the home realm of the Chousin, this place is a massive area of altered space and time where all three - Tokimi, Washu and Tsunami - resided at one time. The area is made of many worlds with chaotic geometries. [edit] Trivia Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines. The game, now out of print due to the expiring of the license, was moderately successful but is mainly of interest for combining many of the design elements that would be incorporated a few months later into the second edition of Big Eyes, Small Mouth and for the insights its writers gave on Tenchi's dilemma. The Japanese title logo of Tenchi Muyo! makes a cameo appearance as graffiti in issue 1 of the Mark Waid / Alex Ross graphic novel series Kingdom Come, right after Norman McCay leaves Wesley Dodds's funeral and starts walking through the streets. Immortality and Physics? Immortality and physics? Is the concept of immortality true or exist in human? Does the concept of brain transplant or transfer soul exist? Can immortality be processed by technology or physics? Additional Details 12 hours ago I learn that immortality exists in humans. It is termed reincarnation in Buddhism. In the Buddhist scripture, it mentioned or believes in reincarnation. But I learn that reincarnation is not natural but done with a Buddhist monk who will temporarily store or take your soul. Then some part of your brain or fluid of your brain is preserved and it is transferred to another human being by a professional or a doctor. I know even this technique is used in the public but it is not widely discussed. Because you see the person who receives your reincarnation or your soul dies. That is why it is not widely accepted in the Medical community or the religious community. Another thing, I don't recall exactly it was a dream, but I saw they unwind fiber optics from a person's brain and reads what they see in their life then transfer this consciousness to another body. I think brain transplant or soul transfer is real. 18 hours ago - 3 days left to answer. - 6 answers - Report Abuse Answer this Question Add/Save Add to private Watchlist Save to My Web Add to Del.icio.us Add to My Yahoo! Rabbit Hole edition, because in it they discuss how you can allow a spirit to use your body by willingly changing your state of mind. Not to sound dualistic but immortality is seen by the public eye as death, of the body.... but where does the spirit go? Conciousness is not a tangable thing, how do we know it left one? Quantum physics.... the physics of possibilities... and it sums up that nothing is impossible. Source(s): What the Bleep DO We Know?! You cant escape your souls allways gonna be there and alive, practicly, we are just souls that have been many a place and have now landed in this being. Hope it helps. Being that we last so short of a time compared to the rest of the cosmos can make one think that if we were somehow connected to it, then we could live almost forever until our elementary particles decomposed. And since we know that half-lives of many particles, one can also think that if we were pure energy we could theoretically live forever! But who would want to be immortal? I think that one will get bored once you know everything and seen everything. It is at this point that we will search for death and it will not come. Source(s): This is the kind of thinking that kept me away from the really good schools. 18 hours ago - Report Abuse 0 0 by gleemonex69 18 hours ago Answer hidden due to its low rating Show Total rating: 0 0 0 Answer hidden due to its low rating Hide User Question/Answer Information MaxieMember since: June 19, 2007 Total points: 113 (Level 1) Points earned this week: --% Best answer Maxie http://login.yahoo.com/?.pd=c%3d1MKJL2Wp2e6fd5g2kpFG6jM-&.intl=us&.src=knowsrch&.done=http%3A%2F%2Fanswers.yahoo.com%2Fquestion%2Findex%3Fqid%3D20070623184747AA8RnIC Depends what source of "immortality" you mean. If you mean if you can live forever in your body, it is not likely possible right now. Our bodies ware out as does our heart. That is why we die. There is this thing happing where you can have your brain cryogenicilly (sp?) frozen so in the future once the technology becomes available they'll be able to "grow" you a new body. But "defrosting" our brains might have damage cause tissue damage. Soul in my opinion described as how we think and who we are, which are just brain waves (how we think), and if those can be replicated or "saved" on to something (like a hard drive for example, or chip) it could be possible to transfer it. If you've ever seen "John Doe" in one episode it was shown like that. And even in an episode of "Batman Beyond." Our bodies are just vessels for our brains, our heart is just how we survive. If we could find a way for a machine to to connect to our brain, then it would be possible. I saw on i think it was Daily Planet that a paralyzed man moved a pointer on a computer by having an antenna attached and connect to his brain. The whole point of reproducing is so we can adapt to our environment. How do you think cockroaches survived the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs? In conclusion, we do not have the technology to keep our brains alive in machines, yet. To your iPod comment, a) there is not nearly enough space to make a whole brain wave pattern on a few hundred gigs let alone a thirty gig. It being stored on it wouldn't make it alive. Only if it could be interpreted through something compatible and be conscience, then yes it could be alive. 18 hours ago - Report Abuse 0 0 by Maxie 18 hours ago Answer hidden due to its low rating Show Total rating: 0 0 0 Answer hidden due to its low rating Hide User Question/Answer Information Happy CamperMember since: October 23, 2006 Total points: 2,733 (Level 4) Points earned this week: --% Best answer Happy Camper http://login.yahoo.com/?.pd=c%3d1MKJL2Wp2e6fd5g2kpFG6jM-&.intl=us&.src=knowsrch&.done=http%3A%2F%2Fanswers.yahoo.com%2Fquestion%2Findex%3Fqid%3D20070623184747AA8RnIC Not even close. Uploading everything in your brain to your IPod would not make it alive. There are many ways to conceptually approach this topic. Star Trek transporters, time machines, computer brain implants, astral projection of the consciousness into an electronic device or robot; in all cases, Physics does not have the answers. What I learn is that your true you or your true self is not necessary your body but your soul. And your soul cannot exist without the brain. And since a human body can normally live to 100 years old. So if a person wants to live more he has to reincarnate or soul transfer. Brain transplant was discovered by Frankenstein, but today they improve it by only taking part of your brain like a little fluid in your brain then transfer to a different person. Now he can continue to live. I know this man whom people said he was God. And he is smart. When he flies on an airplane, he carries with him a special helmet. So in case the airplane crashes, then if his body is burned or destroy, then his head is still in tact with the helmet because his helmet is made of special material so it won't be burned. So his soul or his brain can be saved and be transferred to a different person. So he could live.
How many atoms of carbon-11 were injected into the subject? How many molecules of cocaine? Why are they not same Cocaine binds to and inhibits the dopamine reuptake transporter that controls dopaminergic neurotransmission, thus raising extracellular dopamine in the striatum, the principal brain area containing dopamine nerve terminals. PET images of a human brain taken 10 minutes after intravenous injection of 10 mCi of carbon-11 labeled cocaine ([11C]cocaine) prepared in high specific radioactivity (1 Ci/micromol at the time of injection) showed that the concentration of radioactivity in striatum was 0.8 microCi per cubic centimeter (cc), while the concentration in cerebellum (a brain region that lacks dopamine nerve terminals) was 0.5 microCi per cc. Assume that 1 cc = 1 mL, that a state of equilibrium between bound and free cocaine exists at 10 min, that the half-life of Carbon11 is exactly 20 min, and that Avogadro’s Number is exactly 6 x 10^23.
