About 3 months ago I caught my husband being unfaithful through credit cards and his cell phone, credit cards lead me to check his cell phone....it was horrible and very upsetting but after fighting, yelling, crying and screaming we've both made the mutual decision to try and work things out. I don't want to use gps just because it has to be on for it to work from what I understand and have been reading...and I need something that I can access from my phone to check his location. We both have the same phone HTC if that helps. Please help, we've been going to therapy but I need more than just talking about our feelings, I need proof that he's being honest. Do you think cell phone triangulation is a valuable service or a invasion of privacy? I do expect this issue to reach the Supreme Courts in the future, if it hasn't already. Most people don't realize that any cell phone company can ping your cell phone and track your location, sometimes down the very building or more commonly general vicinity. From what I understand they can ping your cell phone even if the phone is off. Many would argue this is a valuable service in case someone goes missing but given the tremendous popularity of cell phones, this is literally implanting a tracking device on all users. How would you feel at birth if they implanted if the government implanted a tracking device inside you, clearly this would be an invasion of privacy. I've even noticed they offer free cell phones for low income individuals which makes me wonder the true intent of free cell phones for low income users as they're clearly not a necessity. Do you believe when you agree to the terms in and conditions it's ok for them to track you at their own discretion? Or do you believe regardless of the terms, no company should have the ability to track your where abouts for any little reason left at the companies discretion? Problem is, police are now using cell phone providers ping services to place criminals at the scene of a crime. To me, this is way too much power for the police or a cell phone company to posses. Hi, so I know there are a bunch of email tracking websites out there where you can track whether your email has been read, when it was read, where it was read (IP address), how long they read your email, etc. I am interested in learning someone's location when they read my email (like what city they are in). However, this person primarily reads their email using their cell phone/Blackberry. I'm not familiar with IP addresses to know whether email tracking websites will still be able to tell the city the person is in if they are reading the email through their cell phone. It will be interesting to see how the case is resolved, and I am particularly interested in reading what law professor Orin Kerr of the Volokh Conspiracy has to say about this matter. In the meantime, my own sense is that if warrants are routinely and expeditiously granted to track cell phone location, then the Obama Administration’s request for warrantless tracking would be utterly and completely unnecessary. How do they get this "last known mobile signal location? If it is such, then we can attach a cell phone to the laptop and convert it into a GPS. On the laptop we see where the signal of the cell phone is and hence we get to know our location. We can automate this using Google Maps. But my question is how? Cell phone tracker? Help? My friend's mom got a cell phone tracker on her phone. My friend occasionally gets texts saying someone is checking her locations and turned off the tracking thing on her phone. The tracker still works though, and today her mom came over to my house (she was here) just to "check up" on her. So, I have two questions. How did her mom acquire this tracker? They both have iPhones, so is it an app you can buy? or something that's purchased at the store? Also, is there any way to make it STOP tracking her phone? Or at least stop sending her the texts that say she's being tracked? We're both good kids, so don't tell me she "deserves" to be checked up on. But she finds it incredibly annoying knowing that her mom is checking her every move and isn't trusting her. Can the police find the location of a cell phone if the burglar uses it after it was stolen? I was mugged (San Francisco, who knew), and amongst other items, my cell phone was stolen, the cell phone is a Motorola V323i, which if anybody researches, is a fairly new model. I currently have the feature for 911 to locate me if I dial 911, and with that I would like to assume that there is a GPS chip in the phone. I have unlimited minutes and texting so im not worried about them using it, and I would like for them to use it if the police can track it down, but nobody, not the police, or the cell phone company can seem to give me an actual answer to this question. I would prefer that there be internet sources and direct answers, no maybe answers please. NO maybe answers. There was a gun threat involved in this mugging. This whole thing is not about getting the phone back. This is about catching these felons who brought a gun to someone's head and who if have a gun and use it as a threat to someone's life in a mugging incident are likely capable of alot worse. It's possible, I just seen with my very own eyes someone track a Cell Phone with GPS via a program or website he had. I didn't want to ask too many questions but he said it's not very hard to do.. He just typed in the phone number in the box and clicked a button that said "Location" or "Locate" something of that nature..
