Does UPS LTL freight shipping go to your address or do you have to pick it up from UPS? I ordered a pallet of stuff that's been shipped via UPS freight (less-than-truckload). On the tracking page, next to "estimated delivery" it has my city name as a hyperlink, if I click it then I get the address and info of the local UPS freight service center. Do I need to drive to that place to pick it up or will they take the pallet all the way to my address?

Do I get my freight charges canceled with UPS? Okay well they said it should be here today. And on their site it says this: **In the event that UPS Freight fails to deliver the shipment by the agreed time and date, freight charges will be canceled. UPS Freight is not liable for any consequential damages arising from the failure to deliver as agreed. See UPS Freight's Tariff and Terms and Conditions and any other applicable contract, as other restrictions may apply. What does this mean? How would I get my freight charges canceled because it cost me $150.

Does UPS Freight easily damage items? I've bought a television off ebay and the seller said that they were shipping it out with UPS freight. I'm worried that UPS freight would be very harsh at delivering the item and damage the very fragile HDTV. Does anyone know what kinds of conditions items shipped with UPS freight come in? Your answer is appreciated. Thanks
Fedex freight or UPS freight? I currently work at UPS freight as a dockworker but i'm thinking about switching to Fedex. I would make 5 dollars more an hour than at UPS but im concerned that there is no union at fedex. Does anybody know if it is easier to get fired at Fedex than at UPS?

UPS freight delivery schedule? So, I'm having some automotive parts shipped via UPS freight in from the East Coast to Colorado. The company sent it out on tuesday, march 1, and provided me with the tracking number. A few days ago, it says that the expected delivery date is tuesday, march 8. It'll be shipped to the local terminal in Pueblo, CO, but here's my question. Just a little while ago, I checked it's status and it says that it arrived in Denver. So is it going to be here available tomorrow? Monday? Tuesday? Why is it already in CO, if it isn't supposed to be delivered until tuesday?

Is it legal for Gardwine North (Canada) to refuse purchaser to pick up there own freight from distributor? GardwineNorth is refusing to allow our local community store to pick up there own freight (groceries) from the distributor. Distributor is in Wpg. Mb. Canada and our little store is located in Northern Mb. The distributor has stated that GardwineNorth has that right not to allow anyone else to pick up freight? How can they have that right? The cost of shipping goods to the north is very expensive. We own a truck that can deliver the goods and would bring the cost down. We would also employ one of our residents to do this work. Is there legislation that allows them to do this? Is the distributor being un-fair? What are some options that we have to go against this Corporation that is Not allowing us to pick up our own merchandise. Is the distributor doing an illegal act by allowing this to happen. your help would be greatly appreciated as to where or how we can resolve this matter.
Is UPS a good company to work for? If it is a good company to work for, then where in UPS should I actually work? There's the actual parent UPS company. Then you have many of it's subsidiaries, such as: UPS Supply Chain Solutions UPS Trade Management Services (Subsidiary of UPS Supply Chain Solutions) The UPS Store UPS Air Cargo UPS Capital UPS Customer Solutions UPS Express Critical UPS Freight UPS Logistics Technologies UPS Mail Innovations Should I work in the actual parent UPS company? Or should I work in one of UPS's subsidiaries?
how much do UPS dedicated flatbed drivers make a year? I know that the UPS and Fedex freight drivers can make good money but I don't know about the UPS truckload side. There's a few open posistions with UPS as dedicated flatbed drivers and I would love to work for those guys if the money was right. Also wonder if they require at least one year of driving experience or if a graduation from a driving school would get me in?
How to speed out merchandise freight? I am a cashier/stocker for Family Dollar. I am at risk for losing my job because they say I am not fast enough with putting out their freight. This is the only job I have held (out of the 3) that I actually like and I need to know how to speed up the process of putting out merchandise on freight days, as I go at my own pace. It is so hard to do while cashiering and still new at it. So, I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to speed up my freight output. Thanks.

Why would passenger train cars be attached to a freight train? Is this common?:I've seen these passenger cars hooked up to a freight train outside my town. They're double decker trains that look just like Metra trains but don't say Metra on the side. The odd thing is there are no train stations in town and I've never seen a passenger train on these tracks. Are Metra trains shipped somewhere to be repaired or are they repaired at by mechanics at the station? Because that's the only reason I can think of for them to be connected.
Shipping furniture as freight? I'm moving to Hawaii and I need to ship a few large items of furniture. They cannot be sold or replaced, and must come with me. I have looked into shipping containers, but I don't think I have nearly enough to fill a whole container. I have two tables, a china hutch, and a grandfather clock. I have heard that shipping as freight might be a better option. Can anyone recommend any companies? Is this something I could do through UPS Freight?
Anyone ever rode a freight train (in a boxcar etc, not a locomotive) ? What is it like? I was thinking....... This fall, my girlfriend is going to be out of town for a week or so, and I have some time off work. I was thinking it might be cool just pick up a freight train and ride it....wherever, for a few days, then go back home. I would probably need some warmer clothes, a sleeping bag, some food, power bars, camp stove, money, backpacking guitar, etc.....what else? Are there gangs around freight yards, and would I need a gun? Where is a good freight yard not far from NYC? Any tips from someone who has done this before? How do we know which trains are going where? Any interesting stories? I know this sounds like a stupidass, over-romanticized, fantasy, and maybe it is, but it would be wicked cool if I could get it to work. Of course, depending on where I end up, I might just end up flying, taking the bus or Amtrak back home, but that's ok! Yeah, I know it is dangerous, and it is illegal (tresspassing etc), so save the sermons.
Estimate on how much it would cost to ship what could fill a 10' U-haul truck via LTL freight? I have generic household stuff: electronics, music instruments, mattress, etc... all of it could probably fill the small 10' size u-haul truck. I'm actually not shipping any furniture larger than an office chair (besides the mattress.) What should I expect to pay if I pack all this stuff into boxes and pallet it up and arrange for LTL freight? I'm having a hard time using UPS or similar sites to calculate the costs for mundane stuff like this.
Which part of UPS is the best place to work? UPS is divided into several different subsidiaries. I'm just curious to know which part of UPS is the best place to work. Is it better to work at the actual UPS company or is it better to work in one of it's subsidiary companies? UPS (Parent) - UPS Supply Chain Solutions - UPS Capital - UPS Airlines - UPS Express Critical - UPS Freight - UPS Logistics - UPS Mail Innovations - UPS Professional Solutions - The UPS Store

Difference between airline cargo companies and freight cargo companies? I was wondering what the difference was between airline cargo companies (like United Airlines Cargo, Cathay Pacific Cargo, etc...) and dedicated freight cargo companies (like UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc...) When I ship a package I usually get options to ship via the latter instead of the former. Can someone please explain this and also how these airline cargo companies operate?
How should I handle my freight shipments as a small business? I own a small business and have an account to handle my parcel shipments, but I was wondering what I should do about my freight shipments? I ship a few pallets of various items every month to various places around the US and am wondering if I should set up an account with a freight carrier or have a freight broker handle my shipments?
Recent spate of problems with UPS shipping? Anyone else having trouble? In my job as department manager for a small company, I deal with shipping for a major portion of my day. Over the past several months, UPS Ground and UPS Freight have started to really cause me headaches. Multiple damaged, late, and lost shipments have caused us massive embarrassment in front of our customers and plenty of extra work for my staff and I. It's getting ridiculous. We had one pail of product shipped to us in California from a vendor in New Jersey--it arrived damaged, so we sent it back. I got a call today from UPS, saying that on the way back they completely destroyed it, and will have to dispose of it (second time's the charm, I guess). Lost shipments, misrouted shipments, late shipments--it all impacts the bottom line. Our UPS Freight account rep came in to apologize and brought pizza for everyone, but pizza doesn't address the root cause of the mistakes. Has anyone else noticed this with UPS lately? Do you know of any corporate service rating websites?
What transport methods does UPS utilize? More specifically, what transport methods are utilized in transporting a UPS package from Ohio to Western Washington with basic ground shipping charges? Obviously a UPS van would pick up the package, and I can imagine it being taken by big rig to a central processing center, but what happens next? My package left someplace in Illinois yesterday at 9 something AM Eastern time and no updates have been made since. Is Freight Rail utilized at all for such purposes?
how do you determine shipping classes for freight? i want to ship furniture to other states. fedex and ups require shipping classes to give you rate quotes. you can get these i think by looking at the master freight table. my computer shows me a blank page when i go there. i had adobe 4.0 and upgraded to 6.0 yet nothing happens. any ideas?
Can someone clear up this myth for me concerning freight cars? Is it true a person can actually push a single rail car by himself/herself or is this just myth? Assuming its level grade. If so, up to how many cars can the average person push? Thanks So in theory, I should be able to push an unloaded car on level grade if I really tried?

Commerical furniture delivery - How do you send coffee tables by freight? I am in the process of setting up a small furniture making business and I need to know how do you go about sending coffee tables etc that are not flat- packed. I would imagine that you would bubble-wrap the items and then get a freight company like Fedex to pick them up. Is it that easy? Should I consider putting these type of items in crates. The coffee tables I have made would be sent out lndividually to customers. They are not overly expensive and really not that large. But would Fedex etc accept this type of furniture without being crated. If it is OK to send just by bubble-wrapping, what is the best way to do this to ensure the items does not get damaged? I would also be sending out the coffee tables etc to international customers.
Answering customer service enquiries in the freight and logistics industry? I do customer services in the freight and logistics industry and sometimes customers ring up and ask (and sometimes not politely) where their shipment is. What do I say to them that will a) keep them satified and b) keep me happy at the end of the day? Any websites to overcome this problem?? What rights as a customer service representative do I have?
How do I become a freight broker/agent? Is there any companies or individuals in California that provide training or hire agents without any experience? A lot of my family and friends own/operate trucks, I just want to set up something small so I can help them get freight on a daily basis.
Does this exist in the air freight business? In the trucking industry, as an independent trucker, you can call up a broker and get loads with out being tied to one company. Can you do that in the air freight business. For instance, if I were to by a Cessna caravan are there brokers that I could move freight for or do I have to be leases to a single company?
A fugitive tries to hop on a freight train traveling at a constant speed of? A fugitive tries to hop on a freight train traveling at a constant speed of 5.1 m/s. Just as an empty box car passes him, the fugitive starts from rest and accelerates at a = 1.2 m/s^2 to his maximum speed of 5.8 m/s How long does it take him to catch up to the empty box car? What is the distance traveled to reach the box car?
What is the difference between a Truck Dispatcher and Freight Broker (EXPERT NEEDED)? I am in a leagal dispute with my former employer in which I worked as a freight broker. One of the carriers I used as a broker asked me if I knew of someone to become his personal dispatcher. I then set up a company and my g/f handeled the dispatching service from her home. My employer then terminated me and is sueing me because they claim I set up a competivie business against him. I would like the thoughts of other Transportation Industry Pros on this. If anyone could help or send information about this issue I would be very gratefull. Thank You All.

Need help with a UPS package!!? I have a package that is shipped out and supposed to get to my place today, but it got rescheduled for delivery and now it says it won't be here until Monday and that it is at the UPS office in Tampa Florida. I live right near Tampa so I called UPS' hotline to ask them if I can pick it up since it's just a 25 minute drive tops. and they said they'd have to find out and call me back... but they might not call back until way later today. Anywho, so I'm on yellow pages and I know my package is at some UPS facility in Tampa. What type of facility would it be at? I see "UPS store," "UPS Freight," "UPS Capital," and other UPS facilities, but what type of facility would it be at? I need to pick up the package so I need to know which one it's at so I can go to the place.
Does UPS allow employees with facial piercings? I do data entry for UPS Freight in a warehouse location and have been wearing retainers in my 4 facial piercings (centered lip, both nostrils, septum) for my first 2 weeks there. I have noticed some of the guys I work with have tattoos on their arms that seem to be accepted so I'm wondering if maybe my piercings (or some of them) would be. Please don't answer if you're going to say "Asking is the only way to really know." Because I know that but I'm not working the next couple days and would prefer an answer sooner than that! Thanks! To Anisya: I wear my hair pulled back and nothing has been said about my 3 holes in each lobe (the first pair of which are stretched), my industrial and multiple other cartilage piercings. Also, I do not deal with packages, I sit behind a desk and type/fax/scan things.

What are some freight companies that will ship personal items to another state? I'm looking to have my belongings (e.g. clothes, musical instruments, cd's) shipped to another state and I DON'T WANT to use Fedex or UPS, they're way expensive. I don't have a lot of things - maybe only a few large boxes and some musical instruments. Are there freight companies that will ship my belongings for a flat rate or will give me a good deal?

Is an "emergency stop" the fatest way to stop a moving freight train? I guess when you "lock the brakes down" on a long train you are basically sliding metal on metal as the locked wheels skid down the track. Is it more effective though to have a controlled application of the brakes where the wheels do not lock (is this even possible in an emergency or are you required to hit the emergency stop)? When a lock up does occur, does it mean that all of the wheel sets on the train will experience some degree of damage due to flat spots?
Is there a way to get rid of stage freight? Yes I admit I'm a chicken when it comes to talking in front of lots of people but everyone tells me that the more you do it the less scared you are but I feel nervous as hell everytime...I mean I still get up sometimes and do what I need to for school but I find it rather annoying that I can't even speak in front of my classmates that I've been with for like 5 years...any tips?
cheap shipping to Hawaii islands, car, freight, construction materials? Need to ship mini pickup from LA area, also crate approx 4x4x4, also need to try to save money by buying building materials on line and have them shipped to Hawaii instead of buying local which has limited inventory and huge mark up. UPS & USPS are expensive, any alternate ideas? Thanks!
Where do freight trains stop? I have never seen a freight train stop. Maybe it's just the city I live in, but it seems like a freight train would stop at a few factories or something to load up, but I have never seen one stop. Passenger trains stop all the time at the station, but never freight trains which seem very long to stop anyways.
Whats the cheapest way to ship a heavy item from the US to Australia? I have a motorcycle motor that I would like to ship from Virginia to Australia, now I know there is FedEx, ups freight, dhl and places like that, but they want about a thousand dollars. Is there a way to do it cheaper if the time isnt a concern, such as a slow boat that will take months.
My Receiving Manger is accepting unauthorized freight. Can I be held liable? Just last week I happend to be walking by the receiving docks and noticed a rather large crate. Nothing special about that. We receive and ship large crates all the time. This one, however had multiple holes drilled in the sides and seemed to be shaking. After further inspection, it was determined that there were 4 Canadians, 6, Chinese, and 17, what I think are, Mexicans (Could be from Guatemala. Same language) inside. My receiving manager claimed he knew nothing. However he did have a rented van pulled up, for what I expect would be the transfer of the "cargo", to dock 4. Since this happened on company property, can I be held accoutable by Homeland Security for smuggling? After all the problems I have had with the IRS, I don't need anymore.
Could someone help me with stage freight? I want to act. I've always wanted to. I feel that it's something I've been born to do but I have bad stage frieght. I believe it has to do with letting my guard down and feeling to vunerable. I badly want to get rid of the walls I built up so I can really act. I would love some help.
How to file complaint against truck driver (for reckless driving) in california? I was almost injured by a big rig in a parking lot n California. The driver was not alert and tried to instigate/intimidate me by inching up on me, inch by inch. I was in a sedan and did nothing to instigate or retaliate. I looked at the California Public Utilities Commission website but it seems to only cover moving companies and passenger vehicle companies. I also looked up the freight section of the California Consumer Affairs website, which simply refers me back to CPUC. I just feel that this incidence must be reported and the driver dismissed or re-trained so that nobody in the future will get injured.
