It confused me because the policy said that it would be Standard UPS Ground Rate plus an additional 10.00, and my school said that it could take up to 10 days for my order to be processed. Within the last couple months I've noticed shipping charges (especially overseas) have jumped to incredibly expensive rates!! Recent spate of problems with UPS shipping? Anyone else having trouble? In my job as department manager for a small company, I deal with shipping for a major portion of my day. Over the past several months, UPS Ground and UPS Freight have started to really cause me headaches. Multiple damaged, late, and lost shipments have caused us massive embarrassment in front of our customers and plenty of extra work for my staff and I. It's getting ridiculous. We had one pail of product shipped to us in California from a vendor in New Jersey--it arrived damaged, so we sent it back. I got a call today from UPS, saying that on the way back they completely destroyed it, and will have to dispose of it (second time's the charm, I guess). Lost shipments, misrouted shipments, late shipments--it all impacts the bottom line. Our UPS Freight account rep came in to apologize and brought pizza for everyone, but pizza doesn't address the root cause of the mistakes. Has anyone else noticed this with UPS lately? Do you know of any corporate service rating websites?

Changing shipping rates after business grows? Here’s the thing: I run an online comic book store. Right now I only sell comic books. I’m fed up with trying to get table rates to work the way I want & failing to grasp it so decided to go with 25% handling fee (so, say, s&h;on a first class package will be $0.80 instead of $0.64). In my shipping & returns policy I was thinking of adding a little disclaimer explaining that in the future, as the store begins to sell other types of merchandise (clothes, toys, dvds) that the costs will change to accommodate the costs of these items. What might the risk be to my customer base by doing this? I don’t really have the budget right now to hire someone to design a table rate the way I want, and I work from home so I don’t have the extra overhead that would require me to charge higher shipping costs (a local competitor charges $7.99 s&h;on priority mail shipments under $10!) I see so many other similar businesses that use table rates I’m still a little torn as to if I should try and get it done at the start as opposed to later and risk driving long-time customers away. Thoughts?

Anyone had troubles with the UPS Store in Morgantown,WV on Patterson drive overcharging? Well the patterson drive ups store in Morgantown,WV is a total ripoff. They will overcharge you so much and lie to your face and say its what UPS charges. I went there one time to ship a stereo system and they wanted over a 100 dollars. A half mile down the road the ups shipping center in an office depot shipped it for 39 dollars. I hassled them as to what the extra fees are and they would make up some crap. There is a older lady there who is the manager or owner who got very mad at me and told me to leave when I announced that they are overcharging me and its not hard to see. The old lady swears this is how much it will be no matter where I go, well I went to office depot like I said and that was not true. I wanted to go back and show the receipt but I was already asked to leave and did not want to cause more of a stir than I already had. The employees are also trained by her in these lies about shipping rates. They run around like robots and talk you in to things you really don't need to ship your package. The lady there always insisted in knowing what I was shipping every time. Insisting alot of times that it needed repackaged with their materials at their rates. I noticed that she didnt like me bringing in pre paid online ups packages, I would just put them on the table and say its ready to go and she would always have a mean look on her face towards me. Anyways I am just wondering if I am the only person that experienced the wrath of the overcharging old lady manager at the ups store.

How do I come up with one reasonable shipping rate schedule for non-homogeneous products in my website? I started a website that I sell various products in different shapes and weights. I am trying to come up with a reasonable shipping rate schedule without over/under charging customers. My website is set up to calculate finalized shipping rate at checkout. I thought about using USPS flat rate boxes and envelopes, but they aren't suitable for all of my products, as some of my products are sort of light-weight but are too bulky to fit into USPS flat rate box, others are too small that I will be over charging if I use flat rate envelope for those. I also considered determining shipping rate by the purchase dollar but this doesn't seem to work either. Because it will under-estimate shipping costs if the products purchased were discounted. Also, some of my products are indeed light weight/small but high-end priced - therefore over charging shipping fees. I wish I could come up with different shipping rate schedule for each product category but the current system doesn't allow me do to so.

Shipping question for mail order business Have any of you run a mail order business from your home. If so who has the best shipping rates, the post office, ups or fed-ex? Also, who did you find most reliable...least amount of lost parcels etc?
What international document shipping companies are most popular in Japan? I need to send a few legal documents back and forth between Nebraska and Japan (not sure which city in Japan). Which shipping companies will ship packages from Spain to Australia? I am moving to Australia and currently live in Spain. I need to ship 4 or 5 packages from Barcelona to Sydney, Australia at as cheap a rate as possible. I don't mind if they take 12 weeks or so to get there by sea freight if this is the cheapest option. Old Navy shipping? Is it always $5.00 shipping, or is this just a promotional deal. I've never ordered from them before. Debating whether or not to order online or drive an hour to the city. They seem too high. Are some sellers tacking on extra for some extra$$? And how do they know what the shipping rate will be anyway? I know I've gotten things that in no way cost as much to ship as the seller quoted.
