Car Transport by Train/Rail? Hello: I would like to ship a car via train from the state of Washington to Northern Florida. I hear car transport by train is cheaper than truck. Know any companies?
How much does it cost to ship my car to Canada? I'm currently in Canada. I have a vehicle in Florida. I'd like to know an estimate of how much it could cost me to get my car transport to me by train or truck which ever is cheaper and easy. Is there any regulations and procedures to follow? Will it be better to get to it transport to Buffalo first and then drive it to Canada? Let me know of any business referral and website that can help. Thanks
lavender fields from Aix-en-Provence by train/public transport?? I'm in Aix for 3 weeks but have no car, so I have to find a way to get somewhere with lavender fields by train/bus/public transport... please help! I've dreamed of seeing the lavender fields for ages and I've never visited at the right time of year... I'd prefer a day trip of some sort that I could go through on my own (i.e. no tour group, and no overnights) but if you have any suggestions at all I will greatly appreciate it! thank you :) I'm a bit too lazy to bike 70 k. ;) and my sense of direction is horrible so I'll get lost on bike or car... plus I'm 20, so I think too young to rent a car.. I'd really like to find some way to get to a town near the fields by bus from Aix... any suggestions?

By train to Tatra mountains? How can we get to a central place in the Tatra mountains, Slovakia, from a capital, e.g. Budapest by train(s)? All travel agencies only suggest traveling by car but it's far and we would like to use public transport, then probably rent a car in Tatra. Anybody with experience? Thanks.

Is public transport really cheaper than driving with petrol prices at the moment? I found that a 10 minute car trip cost me $6 return by train. Would there be any chance that it would have cost $6 by car - I don't think so. Am I right or wrong? Also, if petrol goes up wouldn't bus fares rise as well to compensate the petrol increase? Has anyone actually switched to public transport due to petrol price?
What are the different options for moving a car across the country? I need to move a Toyota Camry 97 from Southern California to South Carolina (near Charleston) at the end of March. The options I've found so far are drive-away, rail, and getting it shipped. Can someone give me different company names or recommendations? Especially for transporting it by train since I'm having difficulty in finding those companies. I've spoken to about 30 different shipping companies, and for getting it shipped on a car carrier (like those for dealerships) is going to cost me around $800 - $1000, and I'm looking for a cheaper option.
What is the best place in the USA to live without a car (good public transport), with a nice climate? I'd like to move to the States to work there for a year or so and I have no clue where to go. I got some great advice on a question I asked earlier about that, but I didn't mention the traffic and some other things. It would be important to me that the rents are not too expensive, that it's not too hot and not too cold (maybe a beach nearby), that I can get everywhere on my bicycle or by train/bus. A nice landscape would be nice too. Do you know what state might be best.. or even what town? lol thank you RD! That's very tempting. :-D thanks a lot, Bob! I'm used to South England climate. :-)
The reason people choose not to use public transport? I'm off to London on saturday for the day. Going early in morning coming home same day. There 4 of us going by train it'd be £60 return each from suffolk. But by car i can get there, Pay to park then tube it in. Total cast for the day £70. Thats for all 4 of us. And i'm guaranteed a seat. Public transport is a complete rip off. What reason do you have for not using it?? or Do you prefer it?? Why? BADMTS. Suffolk to London is only about 50-60 miles. So now you know how bad we have it. And you petrol is still very cheap compered to ours. We pay 93p a litre.

How to go from Tours to St Malo by train/ bus.? Am visiting France in end May and need to plan my trip. I intend to go from Paris to Tours to and take a day excursion to see the chateaux. Should the government sort out public transport (buses/trains) before taxing us on cars and flights? This is in response to the new tory proposals that want to impose heavy taxes on larger cars, more car park fees, taxes on internal flights, etc. Yet they are leaving us with no alternative but to use these!! If I want to go to Newcastle, London or Scotland (which I do relatively frequently) then the train ticket prices are astronomical, sometimes as much as a flight, and I often have to stand in a crowded and packed carraige. (It's actually not much better than the train network in India, where I've just spent the last couple of months, and believe me for a so called 'rich' country as ours that is a dire insult.) Also getting around anywhere by train or bus is often difficult and really expensive, the bus networks outside of major cities are a joke. So what are we expected to do here? I'm all for saving the envioronment, but squeezing more money out of us is not the way to do it. Should we all just stay home and not go anywhere? That seems to be what they want. Robert, thanks for your answer. Yes you caqn vote for other parties, but once one party puts a tax in, the others will all jump on the same bandwagon. There is no real difference between them. And yes repairing/improving the rail/bus/road infrastructure would cost a lot of money, but there should be no need to raise taxes to pay for it. We are already one of the highest taxed countries in the world, what do they do with all that money? Wate it, that's what. Instead of giving all our money out to Europe and foreign countries, they could use that on the infrastructure here, what about the money they waste on benefits? That could buy some new trains. You get my point.
Falmouth and Newcastle. . . ? ? ? Ok so i'm going on a trip to falmouth ( cornwall ) and i was just wundering how long the trip would be. By car? By train? By any other transport lol ? Thanks
Why do i always dream about trains? For as long as i can remember, most of my dreams have revolved around trains. I've dreamt of being on a train, falling in love on a train, getting ran over by a train, walking on the side of a track, been chased by trains with angry faces and nearly got hit by trains. We don't have a car so our only transport is trains, we go on them every week or two when we go shopping. So what exactly do these train dreams mean?
what is your faveroute mode of transport to get to a footy game? i have to go by car these days because of where i live. but if you had a choice what way would you preffer? car, cab, bus, train or tram. i would love to hear your thoughts and why. i also understand that melboune is the only state that has trams so please no smart remarks on that one as i have been on them to go to a game as well.

Why is the Aust. Government not linking more towns with Public Transport? Public Transport should be like a spider web and not like the outlay of an octopus as it is in Australia. There are only railway lines from smaller cities going towards the big cities, but no webbing outside the city, connecting smaller towns together whithout having to go through the central city first. As an example, I cannot go in Victoria from the quite big city of Geelong to Ballarat by train and visa versa. No possibility either to go by train from Belgrave to Frankston I have to go to Melbourne first! What a missed opportunity to bring work and home closer together saving on cummuters cost. Work opportunities can be better created all around the central city than just clusterd in the central big City, if there was a better web of railway lines, avoiding all these cars and busses on the road. This now causes the need of a forever extending road network and unnecessary car exhaust fumes adding to airpollution and global warming.
What are the restrictions/rules on travelling with an air-rifle in England via train/bus? I have to travel to an airgunning event later this year by public transport. I just wanted to clarify the legality and rules of carrying an air-rifle from A to B. My rifle is Daystate Harrier X .22 160-bar with silencer and scope and I have a 'Dosko Sport Hard Rifle Case' which has four lockable points and is usually carried with at least one locked padlock. Is this adequate for carrying in public? I will also be carrying pellets and an air-rifle pump. Can these be carried together, with the rifle, without contravening any laws? I usually travel by car but am unable to for this event. Sensible answers only please... hmm... robkim04, well in response to your 'unsensible' answer "duh, your not to smart." I guess I should tell you that I've been a member of British Mensa for over ten years... so I'm smart enough to be in the top 2% of the population when it comes to IQ... but thanks for your input all the same. oh, and just to correct your English grammer and spelling... you should have said "duh, you're not too smart." rather than "duh, your not to smart.".
What if an MPG treaty was signed by all countries that produce all different forms of transport? If every make and model plane, train, ship, big rig, truck and car had to raise it's MPG one gallon per year then exsisting technology could be improved for long enough that new technologies could be comercialised allowing for a smooth continual yearly one MPG increase for the next 50 years at least.. I know it could be done cheaply enough especially with government research and grants for companies to increase there own research and devolpment and comercialization departments to actually save money for companies and tax payying customers at the same time. This would mean overall it would save money and natural resources and the climate at the same time. Would this be a great start on affordibile energy independence through conservation and the affordible slowing global warming through reduced emmisions at the same time?
Will Barack Obama bring the USA Transport like there is in Switzerland ? This would create over 10 million jobs and enable everyone to get around, find jobs, go shopping and just explore your great country ! We have Public transport everywhere by Train, bus, Boat, cablecar, ski lift and publicar (a public mini van service taking passengers on demand to their front doors). The cost of this is 10 swiss francs per day in first class. This is payable yearly or monthly and means nobody here needs a car (there is full employment in Switzerland because there are so many jobs on the railway). I would like to return to the USA because I love it in your great country, but I do not want to drive so if Barack Obama will stimulate the economy with excellent public transport then me and millions of Europeans will be happy tourists !
Going on holiday in June/July need suggestions? My Family and I are planning on taking the euro-star to France, we would like to go somewhere which is likely to be dry and warm, possibly on the beach. We would like to go somewhere with history too. We wont be taking the car so all transport would be done by train. Could you help me with some destination names which have a train station linking to the euro-star on the south coast of France. Thanks.
How can the government expect the UK to be more 'green' by using public transport when it's so expensive?! When I was debating to use the car or Train to Nottigham from Milton Keynes it was either - Bus to train station £3 return, Train £32.50 return, Bus to my house £3.40 return, (£38.90 for public Transport). Or to use the car for £15 fuel total. On top of this the train would take about 2 hours extra. So as an incentive of using public transport and saving the environment we get offered a much more expensive, longer service costing us a lot of time and money. So with this in mind, why isn't there a change made. Which is a 'greener' option, keeping the expensive trains with few people willing to pay for this service over a car, or lowering prices and having filled up, cheaper trains ? I know what i would do if i had a political say..
Would you join a protest to protest against the price of fuel and public transport? The news paper tells me this morning that the price of petrol is going up again!! Apparently they are doing it all in the name of climate change.. but what do thy expect us to do? Stop using cars?? Ok.. fair enough if we do that we can use public transport.. but noooooo... it costs more to go by train than it does by car!! This is getting ridiculous! If you were to be asked to join a protest at your local train station to protest against both the price of fuel and train costs.. would you join? I mean really... not just say you would.. actually do it? This may sound daft.. but us Britons are a bunch of people who usually just layback and let people walk all over us! Its time to take a stand! How much is going to take? For petrol prices to go up to £2 a litre? In response to "what did it do last time" Yes I know.. the very last time, only about 10 people protested.. thats not going to work..! Before that.. ok a few more.. but it was mainly lorry drivers.. Imaging.. if normal people.. across the whole of britain did it!? Maybe we would make a difference? The protest that I have in mind.. is not to disrupt too much.. just lots of people..! Nothing like the fuel blockades...
is it unusual to hate public transport? I prefer to get drove everywhere by car e.g.. my dads car I hate trains i dont know why I hate buses too many people I hate taxis - too expensive and every other sort of transport.. is this weird?

Does anybody else think Public transport is a RIP OFF? The government want us to use public transport to save the enviroment ,but when i priced up to go to london by train with my partner and son it worked out at a £149.95 return ,yet the same cost by car would be around £40. (diesel car) around (£110 less). So if these lot in power really wanted us to us public transport to save the enviroment ,why don't they try and make public transport cheaper? Any views on this? I live around 140 miles from london Just to add on from manchester airport to london gatwick (return) worked out at £110 for all of us by plane. yet to spain it worked out at £68 return this country is crazy!

these are the questions and answers to these questions...but my teacher said i need to add more info. help? 1.When and where does the first part of the story take place? 1941, Transylvanian town of Sighet 2.Describe the main character. What kind of boy was he? He is a very educational boy that goes against his fathers wishes. 3.What story did Moshe the Beadle tell upon his return to Sighet? How the deportation trains were handed over to the Gestapo at the Polish border & how the Jews were forced to dig mass graves for themselves and were killed by the Gestapo. 4.How did the people of Elie’s town justify their denial of the German actions? The town takes him for a lunatic and refuses to believe his story. 5.How did the seventh day of Passover change their minds? They made a decision. 6.Describe life in the ghetto and what it was like to be deported. Deportation: very scary and very, very uncomfortable. Ghetto: They were tightly fitted into small living areas that were very uncomfortable to live in. 7.How were Elie and his family transported to their first camp? Describe the conditions on the transport. They were transported by a train. Packed into cattle cars, the Jews are tormented by nearly unbearable conditions. There is almost no air to breathe, the heat is intense, there is no room to sit, and everyone is hungry and thirsty. 8.Describe the outburst of Madame Schachter. How was this a premonition of what was to come? She soon cracks under the harsh treatment to which the Jews are under. On the third night, she begins to scream that she sees a fire in the darkness outside the car. Although no fire is visible, she terrifies the Jews in the car. 9.Where did they finally arrive after so many days of travel? What happened to Elie, his family, and the others who made the “journey”? The concentration camp Birkenau, the processing center for arrivals at Auschwitz. Elie and his father remain together, separated from Elie’s mother and younger sister, whom he never sees again. They are transported to Auschwitz. Others are looked at either to be killed or worked to death. 10.Who was Dr. Mengele? What did the direction of his wand mean? What direction did Elie and his father receive? Why do you think it was that direction? He is the notoriously cruel Nazi doctor, and he determines who is condemned to death and who can go on living. Elie’s father is sent to execution and Elie is sent the other way. 11.Above the door at Auschwitz and other camps, was the sign which read “Work is Liberty." What is the irony of this saying? Because they are not going to achieve liberty y working. 12.What was a Kapo? What role did they play in the camps? A Kapo was to serve in a unit of prisoners whose job entails counting electrical fittings in a civilian warehouse. 13.What was the “selection” process? Why was it good to pass? Whether to live or die. Yes. You live. 14.What happened to Elie’s foot? What was it like in the hospital? Elie’s foot swells up, and he undergoes an operation. It is scary in a way being by himself. 15.Why was the camp at Buna evacuated? Why did Elie not stay in the hospital? The rumor of the approaching Russian army gives him new hope. But the Germans decide to evacuate the camp before the Russians can arrive. Because he wanted to be with his father. 16.How did Elie’s father die? What was Elie’s reaction? He was taken to the crematory. He was in relief. 17.What did he think would happen to him before the Russians or Americans would arrive? Why? He would die. Because of the rough conditions. 18.Why were Elie and the remaining prisoners at the camp not deported? What saved them? The Americans showed up earlier that the Germans thought. 19.What was Elie’s first act as a free man, after the Americans liberated the camp? To feed him self. 20.For such a pious young man, Elie became quite cynical of God and religion. Why? Because he endured a lot of pain and god helped him through it all. 21.There were many terrifying and moving scenes in the book. Choose the one which most affected you and explain why you were so moved. When it was talking about the lady on the bus screaming and not stopping and she has to be beaten to shut up.

Now i use public transport.I don't feel bad about my decision and actually don't mind going to work by bus or train. interstate train for car transport? Just wondering if it's possible to transport a car via the rail system from Melbourne to Brisbane? I've searched for information but can't get a definitive answer. Anyones help would be appreciated...... Thanks :)
What's the best way to get a car from the Pacific Northwest to New England? A friend has moved from here to there and doesn't want to drive her car across the country. She has looked into closed-car train transport and can't find any company that will do it going eastward. (Westward, sure, but that's not helpful.) She has found trucking companies that will do open-air transport but keeps reading on webpages about nightmare situations (stolen/vandalized cars, stolen property from inside the vehicle, "missing" keys) so would rather not go that route. Are there companies out there that are reputable, safe and reliable and will get a car from west to east? Self-driving the car is not feasible - it would take much too long and she can't take that kind of time off work. Some other person or entity (likely someone getting paid) driving it for her.
How do I transport my car to Brisbane? The train doesn't carry cars up to Brisbane and I'm not driving alone all that way. Car carriers are really expensive - any ideas on alternatives. Peace, luv and happiness.
Does anyone know of artists when it comes to transport paintings, etc? I am searching for paintings/illustrations that have got to do with transport. I've seen a lot of paintings for Miroslav Sasek when it comes to how he illustrates the transport system, etc Can anyone tell me another artisting/illustrator of similar sort when it comes to painting different type of transport to do with trains, cars, bus, etc? Thanks!
Which is more environmentally friendly: boat , train, car or plane? What will be the most environmentally friendly and logically possible way of transporting goods from Madhya Pradesh in India to the UK. I have to know this for a Geography Project. I am pretending to be an environmental textile company that manufactures its goods in India for sale in the UK for a geography project on Globalisation. Can anyone help and does anyone have any other ideas. Remember, if you tell me its a train please make sure there is a train line from India to the UK!!!!
What would be the Cheapest transport around Ireland? Me and a friend are planning a week away to Ireland. Day trip From London. Windsor + Oxford and back. - Train, Coach or Car? Family of 4 from USA with good traveling kids 6 and 9. We want to see Windsor and Oxford all in one day - out and back from London. We love to self direct, and I love to drive - have driven a lot in France - and some in England so I'll have to get used to the left hand side. Love to drive the manual transmission 'euro cars' that we've rented in France in the past. But don't want to 'slog' through traffic all day long either. Love hopping on a train without much baggage. 1.Take train? Take transport out to Windsor from Central London and then on to Oxford and back that evening to London? Ability to take 'any train' if we adjust our schedule during the day? 2. Take a coach - with a stopoff at Windsor? Ability to take 'any coach' if we decide to adjust our schedule? 3. Rent a car (possibly combine for savings with another trip to Bath/Salisbury under another question) and do it on our own schedule with the ability to leave some 'things' in the car and take a picnic, etc and 'go where we want when we want. Is the route out to Oxford and back horribly congested? This will be a Wed. or Thurs. in mid August. Thanks so much for any advice!! Thanks All. Good Advice so far. Appreciate the advice on how to travel but this is intended to be a bit of a 'see a lot day' be a tourist, etc. and not a relaxation day. And yes I figure we'll be out from 9am to 10pm... I guess I was wondering if we could sort of go to Windsor 'on the way' to Oxford - and it's sounding more difficult (and not really 'on the way') than I thought. Can we pop in to Windsor, see the castle and move on - or should it warrant it's own day? Oxford vs. Windsor if you had to choose? We'll be near Russell Square in London. I lived for a short while in Oxford in 1980 as a kid and wanted to show my kids where. I've always wanted to see Windsor as well. Perhaps separate day trips for each. Sounds like the train wins.
How much would it affect you? if for one day only all forms of transport (cars, trains, planes, buses, cars, motorbikes/mopeds etc) were not allowed to run or be used?? in other words you can only commute by walking
Is there a safe place to park & leave your car just outside of NYC & take the train in ? We will be staying in the city for 2 days (one night), and would prefer to leave our car somewhere outside the city and just take the train/subway/public transport in. Our hotel is just beside Grand Central Station, which made this seem feasible in my mind... are there places where your car will be safe parked overnight for you to take a train into the city? Thank you in advance for any and all help -- I'm obviously a city newbie =) I hadn't thought of that -- good point! I will be coming from Long Island, and will be leaving NYC to head to Boston (holiday traveling never ends...)

How does train engineers get their sleep? Ok, I know they they sometimes catnap while getting cars hooked or unhooked, but I heard they sometimes get transported to a hotel to sleep, how do they get transported from the train to the hotel? or how does this exactly work? Is it always a hotel they sleep at or what? I live next to a rail road track (on a hill) and a big paper factory on down brings the loaded trailers down to where our house is and union pacific comes pick them up late at night and bring them back in couple days and I was confused bout them sleeping
Car seats and public transport.....? So, there's been a few questions about car seats recently. Why is there thinking that hospitals can 'not allow' grown adults to do as they choose? A hospital and hospital staff have no jurisdiction over you or your child. If you want to leave hospital without a car seat that is your right. I don't advocate taking babies in a car without the proper restraints, but if you want to walk or take your baby home on public transport then that is noone's decision but yours. Secondly, why is there the impression that you need a car seat for public transport (I'm UK)? Are there different rules in other countries? I mainly use public transport and have never used a car seat on it or any kind of pushchair for that matter. When on public transport my baby (now 1) is securely attached to my front or back in one of her slings. How do you manage to take baby AND car seats and/or strollers on buses or trains? And how can it be safer when there are no restraints? What you think the protocol SHOULD be? Thankyou for your time and thoughts! Becky Q, I'm not suggesting using a car without a car seat. And not everyone has the luxury of choosing not to use public transport!!
How to find cheap train tickets? I'm so incredibly angry. I'm travelling home from London (Paddington) to Newton Abbot (Devon) for my father's birthday. It will cost £63 for return ticket. This is obscenely expensive for a 2.5 hours journey each way. I am booking ONE MONTH ahead. Don't say coach - I'm not spending 5 hours travelling on a Friday night. Any secrets for bookig cheaper train tickets? - is it true the cheap tickets are released in 'batches' so it's just luck of the draw when you get cheaper tickets, rather than how far ahead you book? Advice please! This is a journey I do often but it's never been this expensive before - never over £40 that I can recall. This is a question about TRAINS - I'm not interested in alternative forms of transport, thanks. I like the train and I don't intend to get a car or use the coach. Thanks for any intelligent replies to this genuine question.
