I live in Canada and I'm considering buying online to www.abercrombie.ca Right under my shopping bag it says: "Duties for shipment to Canada will be covered by Abercrombie & Fitch". They also present a S&H chart depending on the amount of the order. Do this mean I'll have to pay S&H charges or are they included in duties covered by Abercrombie?

Is Economic Shipping handled by the USPS? I ordered something online a month ago and I choose the cheapest type of shipment, which would take 14-21 days, but I never recieved it because my local post office "lost" my package. One of the choices there are in the shipping menu is this Economic Shipping which will take 3-7 days. I will feel much more assured to choose this option if it is being handled by FEDEX, not the USPS. Does anyone know?

Extra courier fee on customs shipment? ? I ordered about $250 worth of apparel from a U.K. shop, to be shipped to the U.S.; and paid about $80 at time of order for shipping/handling. The courier service later contacted me demanding a Power of Attorney; then said I owed them $190 in "customs hold fees" before they would send me the package. Anyone have a clue as to what this is about? They refused to say anything other than it was a "customs hold fee" although there's no reason anything should have been held. Basic apparel - no fur etc. I've ordered from many countries for years and never had anything like this happen. I demanded they return to shipper but I'll be out original ship fees now....

We sell liquid chlorine in yellow jerry jugs with vents that hold two and a half gallons. Amazon shipping? Amazon said my package would be here by June 12th (today). I paid extra shipping and handling for two day shipping so that it would be here today. How do I get amazon.com to...? Amazon keeps ordering my books 1 at a time. This is really annoying and keeping my shipping costs high with them. (It costs me $2.68 for shipping & handling total) My books net cost to print was 2.65 per book. Amazon is only giving me 6.73 per book sold leaving me with only 1.40 per book. If they would just order 5 books at a time it would only cost me 87 cents extra in shipping putting an extra $9.73 per shipment in my pocket. US Postal Money order. Post office verified as authentic. Already cashed but still suspicious. Was it fake? I'm in Washington state and had an item on sale on craigslist. A guy contacted me from North Carolina looking to purchase it. He offered me a US postal money order which I accepted. I wisely had it verified first at the post office before cashing it at my bank. The post office employees said it appeared to have subtle differences to the naked eye but they called it in anyway to "be sure". The verdict was that it was authentic, so I cashed it and sent the item. The day before the item was scheduled to arrive at his house, he emailed me with complaints accusing me of misrepresenting the item. He told me he was going to refuse the shipment which he did and it was returned to me. Now he wants the purchase price returned to him but did not seem to mind that he was out the shipping & handling fees. Everything about this feels suspicious, but everything checked out with the US postal Money order so that means it won't come back to bite me....right or wrong? I want to do the right thing and return his money but I read that it can take weeks or even months to determine if a US postal money order is counterfeit. Anyone have any experience on this before I refund the $$? The Money order was for the exact amount I charged him. Everything checked out but the whole situation does not seem right. Questions about "Brickmaster" Subscription for Lego? So this year for Christmas, like many others, I am looking for ways to really stretch my dollar. My 9 year old brother lives with my fiance and I, and so Christmas is pretty much all his. One of the things I was looking at the other day, was in one of his Lego magazines. It is a "Lego BrickMaster One Year subscription". With this subscription he would get; *6 surprise new Lego sets *6 Lego BrickMaster Magazines (one every other month) *2 Legoshop.com coupons *A Legoland admission ticket (although we wouldn't be able to use it at this moment) I was going to go ahead and do this, and then we could use the "welcome package" for Christmas, which includes a Lego set, and the coupons. I would also put the member card in his stocking as a stuffer, so the overall thing would be a gift as well. But I looked along the bottom of all this, and I see where it says "Please note, the BrickMaster Welcome package is the first shipment you will receive, and is subject to standard shipping and handling charges." It does not say about the other packages he would receive, so should I take it that this will be the only package I would be charged for? Also, do you think that this is worth the $40.00 it costs? Can you recommend a shipper in the US that ships goods to Lithuania? We regularly ship packages from the East Coast to Lithuania by surface transit. We ship about 300-400 boxes a year. We have been scammed by a company named CPMC. They distribute Hoodia X57. Anyone else experience this? According to the telephone salesperson, this was to be a free trial sample and we would only pay shipping and handling. No further obligation. The order through sales was on July 17/06 and we rec'd shipment on July 31/06. Much to our surprise, we rec'd 2 more bottles on Aug 17/06, which we did not order. Looking at the fine print on the packingslip, we discovered that unless we cancelled, the supplement would be shipped out monthly. We immediately called CPMC and were told we should have cancelled by July 31 in order to prevent further shipments. We were finally able to cancel further orders, and returned the unopened product (as instructed) on Aug 23/06, but are still trying to get a refund back on our credit card ($79.10 U.S.) I called again today and can't get a straight answer. I'm sure they will try to say they didn't receive the unopened product. Other than the BBB can it be reported to someone. They don't even operate under a proper business name!

After a small hysterical fit, I realised that actually the emails were fake because the sender's emails were obviously not genuinely eBay and paypal (the emails I got from "ebay" were from ukrswebhep@in.com, and the emails I got from paypal were from "onlinefund-clearance@in.com) Since then I have cancelled my transaction with the buyer after realising that even though I had had an email from "paypal" telling me that £190.00 had been put into my account (My camera was £141.99 with p&p... apparently the extra was for postage to Nigeria too...). I have also sent an email to eBay and am waiting on a response. I am now asking the good people of the internet for help! Is there anything else I can do? Who would win in court. (please help VERY important)? Ok heres the deal, If a seller lists a fairly expensive item on ebay, say 2167.44 after shipping and handling. Then the listing ends and the seller gets the full payment from the buyer. The seller goes to the post office with a box weighted down with 10 pounds of rocks, insures it for 2000 dollars, also buys tracking and delivery confirmation then ships the item. When the buyer recives the item he is "royally pissed" and attempts to sue the seller. The sellers defense is that the item was in the box when he sent it and that the buyer is just trying to scam him for alot of money, there is proof that the buyer received the shipment (due to delivery confirmation). The buyers argument is that the seller has no proof of the laptop being purchased from any retail store. the seller has 10 positive feedback, but there all from buying 5 dollar or less items. The buyer has any number of feedback. The sellers account is only 1-2 months old, the sellers is any number of months old. Buying off Amazon.com? Hi, I'm a Canadian and I'll be purchasing a few t-shirts off Amazon.com. My total including shipping and handling as well as taxes adds up to a reasonable amount, but I'm wondering if I will be charged any additional fees not included on this estimate for getting something delivered from the States to Canada? I did some research and couldn't find anything, but I have heard import fees are possible. Ebay buyer payed for product but not shipping, what to do? I have two buyers now who purchased products from me in the past week. Both paid for the item and when paying left the defult, local pickup, shipping option as their method of shipment. One buyer lives in MO and the other in GA, I live in Ohio. I am a ebay seller and I mixed up two shipments? I need some advice on how to go about getting the items to the rightful owners. If I understand right, the freight company is in possession of two pieces of paperwork - the BOL and commercial invoice (or Canadian Customs Invoice). But a customs broker is required in Canada, because the freight company can't work with Canadian customs directly? Does the customs broker just fill out a form, or do they inspect the shipment? Should I refuse international shipping to avoid being forced/extorted in to paying customs on an ebay dispute? Hey all, wanted an opinion on how I should handle this. I sent a 700 dollar item to France, and when it arrived the buyer was upset at the amount of customs/taxes he would need to pay on the item. He hollered at me in email how I should have used an alternate shipping method and claimed he could not afford the taxes and would be declining the shipment. I replied that if that was the case, I would be seeking a restock fee when the item returned since it was not being returned due to damage or misrepresenation and was only being returned because he could not afford the taxes (which he was aware there would be). This must have angered him as he know states that instead of declining the item, he will pay the taxes and accept the item, but will now use the "3 day return" policy against me by sending the package back, essentially extorting me in to paying Customs taxes myself when it arrives back here in the states. I assume he is doing this to get back at me. He then claims he will be immediatly contacting pay-pal to arrange a refund request. My question is, should I pay the customs taxes when the item arrives, and take this out of the refund amount until Paypal settles the dispute, or should I outright refuse the package and let it get sent back to him. I am afraid my item is going to be damaged by either him or somewhere along all of this shipping so would rather just pay the taxes, but I wonder if I give up rights/admit some sort of agreement if I do. I understand that there will be a litigation/mediation of sorts through ebay and pay-pal and that I will need to refund him until it is disputed, but I feel I am being coeerced in to paying almost 200 dollards in fees so he can get back at me.

If my item was "damaged in transit" by FedEx will they pay for the item and shipping costs? I shipped a car hood that I sold on ebay via fedex and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday when the buyer emailed me telling me that FedEx damaged the hood. The hood was never even delivered to him, so I'm assuming it was very damaged. When I checked the tracking (which I assumed he did as well), yesterday it said there was a delivery exception "damaged, handling per shippers instructions"... Today it says that the package was returned to shipper and "Unable to deliver shipment, return to shipper - Damaged in transit". Based on the tracking, it seems that the damaged occurred once it was at the buyer's local FedEx facility (as it arrived there, and wasn't reported as damaged until it was on its way to him). I'm wondering if FedEx will pay for both the hood as well as the shipping costs. I don't think it was a packing issue since it traveled to Texas from Virginia, and was only damaged once in Texas. So I'm wondering if I will be out nearly $500 or if I can expect to be reimbursed. The thing is the buyer didn't ask for insurance, but FedEx didn't even deliver it to him, they immediately shipped it back to me. Which is weird.

I’m fed up with trying to get table rates to work the way I want & failing to grasp it so decided to go with 25% handling fee (so, say, s&h;on a first class package will be $0.80 instead of $0.64). In my shipping & returns policy I was thinking of adding a little disclaimer explaining that in the future, as the store begins to sell other types of merchandise (clothes, toys, dvds) that the costs will change to accommodate the costs of these items. What might the risk be to my customer base by doing this? I don’t really have the budget right now to hire someone to design a table rate the way I want, and I work from home so I don’t have the extra overhead that would require me to charge higher shipping costs (a local competitor charges $7.99 s&h;on priority mail shipments under $10!) I see so many other similar businesses that use table rates I’m still a little torn as to if I should try and get it done at the start as opposed to later and risk driving long-time customers away. My husband make me look like an ass in front of my boss? I was previously laid off from my job of 8 years when the housing industry collapsed 6 months ago and just happened to find a job making the same salary. If it's my idea saving my company thousands of dollars and my husbands company handling it, then I become indespensible and have security as long as I keep performing. Sounds somewhat creepy but I have a 12 month son and my salary is necessary in order to pay the bills. My husband asked me questions about our shipping then suggested that I sign up for a new program at his work that gives us a bigger shipping discount. Perfect! All I needed was for our HR dept. to fill out a form about our shipments and annual spending to give to him, so I turned it in. That was a month ago.... Well I guess the HR manager finally decided to get to it today b/c I was called into her office where my boss and the owner were sitting. I was then put on the spot and asked to explain the ins and outs of the program to them and why they should give out such personal information on a form. I did the best I could at explainging what I knew about the program and it was enough to sell them on the idea, but my boss had some questions about the form and application process that I just couldn't answer. So, naturally the owner asked me to call my husband (who has worked with us a few times and saved us money) so he could help explain how the process worked. Now, small freight isn't my husbands department BUT he knew enough to explain a basic overview to me and to assure me that it would be worth it. He was even the person to fax over the paper work for my company to fill out. Why wouldn't I call my husband about this? I don't know who in his company would take over the account later; I don't work there! When I didn't get him at the office I called his cell phone and he answered. I explained that I was sitting in the room with the owner, my boss and the HR manager and told him that we were going over the paperwork and that they had a few simple questions. The person called her friend a couple weeks later and it turns out that she never got the package. How To Promote My New Book (Amazon or Affiliate Program)? I'm self-publishing my new book about to be published shortly through LightningSource. Here's my dilemma as a self-published, self-marketing author: 1. Do I leave fulfillment to LightningSource/Amazon who will charge me 55% right off the top, leaving me with much smaller margins (the cost of the book will come from my share, the remaining 45%) and focus on just marketing the book? If I take this route, then I can't do much for affiliates and Joint Venture partners, but reduces a lot of S&H overhead. 2. Do I do the fulfillment myself, selling the book for lower than Amazon, worrying about shipping and handling (especially international shipments, refunds, etc)? This approach will give help me pay decent amounts to affiliates, JV partners and bulk resellers, but increases my order- processing overhead. What do you think? Am I getting scammed through craigslist? I decided that I wanted an item via craigslist for $250. I emailed the seller and he said that shipment takes 3-5 days which I was thrown off by because I asked what the payment and pickup details were. I didn't specify I wanted it shipped. It was a few hours away so I said thats fine. He suggested PayPal or Google Checkout and I specified I wanted to handle it through PayPal for it is a universally trusted way to do this. I payed him and it all was going well when he emailed me back, saying that someone hacked his paypal account and that he had to refund my money. I checked my bank account and he did refund it, but now he wants to handle it through Google Checkout which I'm unfamiliar with. I find it strangely coincidental that someone hacked his paypal as soon as I payed him for this item. I suggested we meet instead and I have yet to hear from him. Is this a possible scam? Wouldn't a seller on craigslist suggest a meeting place before shipment is even mentioned?
