  1. Too expensive!!! Too inconvenient!! i.e. too long between most buses. Has to run 24hrs so everyone can use it!! Here we have a good way to reduce traffic and emissions but it's just not a good option for most people.
  2. thats its not free to people who pay tax
  3. I don't allow my pets to pee on trains at all.
  4. I hate waiting in the cold and rain for the tram/bus/train thats late.
  5. obnoxius loud school kids
  6. it doesn't turn up
  7. why is it the smelly drunk nutter that seems to appear on every bus always end up sitting next to me
  8. My biggest problem is that anyone can use it and it gets too crowded.
  9. The awful scheduling and the high fares. People who use it who are sick and make everyone else sick. Crowds, obnoxious kids, obnoxious drunks, obnoxious people, cell phones, puking drunks, dirty buses, get away for criminals, inconsiderates - some drivers, alot of riders, bicycle racks on the front of buses that take forever to load up, if one wants to ride a bike, stay off the bus. Women who bring their babies, and all of their belongings, especially those strollers that they won't fold up and it blocks the walkway, seating and exits. Cabbies that drive like they are in the Indy 500, and take corners on 2 wheels. Un-timeliness, miss the next connection. Smelly people that don't know, or don't care about offending others. Using the heat when it is warm out, and air conditioning when it is cold out. Drivers that don't want windows opened.Screaming kids.Crying kids. "Kicking the back of your seat" kids. The smelly fuel emissions and that there is always 1 last seat on the bus, not even standing room only, but that one last seat remains vacant. No One wants to sit in it. Considering all of this, there is no way to improve it.
  10. People that block the Train doors. Jesus Sit the F.uck down! our Chicago transit system isnt bad, but jesus, the people that ride it. they arent good at making room for other people .UGH!
  11. Its dirty, unreliable and in London often downright unsafe. Near Heathrow - its a weekly occurence now that gangs are boarding trains and buses and robbing people of phones, money etc. Especially on the upper decks of buses - people are afraid to use them now alone xx
  12. What amazes me is that we are the richest country in the world and that our transportation sucks! Travel abroad and you will see what I mean. Let's get the rails rolling and have commuter trains from town to town. But we cannot seem to run city busses with out crying about lack of funding..
  13. I took part in a Transport for London Survey recently so I was able to really express all my annoyances! I actually don't use it a lot because I hate the crowds. I used to have to travel to the city for work and it was a nightmare. Sometimes I'd have to get off before my stop because I felt so claustrophobic.
  14. cost, infrequency, unreliability.... it takes absolutely ages to get anywhere on public transport. if people are to be persuaded to leave their cars at home, there needs to be major improvements!
  15. Infrequency; poor coverage in some areas; unreliability. I'd love to travel by public transport to work, but walking 30 minutes along a dark road to get to a bus stop, to get a bus which may or may not come, and will take another 30 minutes to get to town ... doesn't compare with a 15 minute car journey, does it?
  16. I work on public transport as a ticket inspector and even I think its in huge decline. The fares are way too expensive, the buses are often dirty or scattered with litter and they are usually cold in the winter and too warm in the summer. Some of the drivers are so ignorant towards people and some cant even drive that well....!! (In their defence though, the majority of them DO try their hardest to stick to times etc, which was something I didn't believe myself until I started working on them!) And it really should be illegal for some-one who's full of cold to board a bus because they make fantastic breeding grounds for germs!!
  17. There are too many to count: cost, cleanliness, reliability, yobishness, crowded, getting to and from stations/bus stops. All in all why would anyone want to use it if they didn't have to? (I was on a London bus recently and it was - as usual - packed. There was a guy standing in front of me in an expensive looking suit and this other guy near me was drinking a milk shake. The bus went over a bump and loads of strawberry milkshake ended up on this expensive suit, but the owner didn't realise and got of the bus unaware - poor b*stard - how often does that happen in a car?)
  18. Bad breath and sweaty armpits. Especially in the morning, there's no excuse for that. Also, when the bus is a couple of mins late and the grannies start whingeing. In Barcelona, everyone seems to sit on the aisle seat, which means that you have to ask their permission to sit down. Ignorant bastards.
  19. Expensive, unreliable, dirty, some of the drivers are ignorant and unhelpful. It is as if the 'bus companies are doing you a favour by carrying you,in other words they are failing to provide the service they are contracted to.
  20. It depends on what city you are in, I know in Detroit I feel bad for the people who use public transportation
  21. No! Don't get me started! I live in London and I have to take the bus (147) to college everyday and it just gets me so annoyed everytime I use it! http://www.xanga.com/Lady_Loathly/560243437/how-much.html http://www.xanga.com/Lady_Loathly/489394678/ken-you-are-taking-the-effing-piss.html http://www.xanga.com/Lady_Loathly/487773165/gits.html ^^those are some of my entries on my blog about public transport I hate it when people get on the back of a bus when it's full. Do they not realise why the front door of the bus wasn't opened? Idiots. And I hate it when I have to wait ages for the bus. The longest I've waited was about 50 minutes (it was freezing cold and was getting to 9 in the evening). I could have taken another bus but I'm very stubborn and I wanted the bus that would take the quickest time to get me home. I also hate it when you wait ages for the bus and then someone comes along and gets on the bus first even though you were waiting there first. SO annoying! Waiting ages for a bus and then they all come at once.... Pressing the bell to get off but the driver ignores you and drives off even when you tell him you need to get off (it hasn't happened to me yet as I always stand near the exit but I've seen it happen countless of times). Erm...ooh people standing downstairs on the bus but not going upstairs to let more people get on. That is extremely annoying, though I am guilty of this (I don't usually sit down on the bus, so why should I have to go upstairs and sit down if I just wanna stand up?) And I HATE Ken Livingstone. It's like he put up the fare for buses and trains to put the money back into public transport but I haven't seen any improvements. I still have to wait 15 or more for the bus I need, buses come infrequently and when it does come, it's usually full so you have to wait for another one (only to find it is full too). I only need one bus to take me straight from home to colleg and vice versa, but in the mornings it takes an age to get to the stop, and at home time it gets REALLY full at the college. I just don't understand why the council don't have a seperate bus to us college students so that no-one else has to be put out when it's full. Anyway that's my rant...I really hate buses...the tube's alright but I don't use it that often (only when the 147 is taking too long to get to the bus stop). Oh and I hate it when the driver turns the engine off just because someone got on at the back. Really annoying. ;-) xx
  22. My pet peeves with public transportation is of the over crowding at times and when the driver is just rude to people, and when people are rude to disabled people, and the people that think that everyone else is in their way. I mean, it's a public thing- you know one of your pet peeves are going to be tested when you go on any public transportation system.
  23. The smells....too much perfume, BO, funk, etc. Pass the nose plugs!
  24. Everything covered in www.bloodbus.com .
  25. I once saw someone eating a bowl of cereal with a glass bowl and a metal spoon on the train. wtf? Did they pour the milk in at home or on the train? I hate people who yell, from the top of the stairs: "Hold that train!!" when they see the train on the platform. a) as if anyone will b) as if there are no other trains c) as if the entire train should be made to wait for them to drag their slow a.r.s.e. down the stairs. Also: people who transport their bikes on the train DURING RUSH HOUR deserve a special place in hell. Phones and music played too loudly are also an annoyance.
  26. Smelly homeless people. People who try to talk to you when it is clear you are reading or listening to music and don't want to talk. Slow bus drivers that are like 3 minutes late so you miss your next bus connection and have to wait a half hour for the next one. The lady that gets on with her 7 kids and doesn't have change to pay fares.
  27. I've heard of this concept in other countries. I don't know why we don't have it in the UK.
  28. Its basically not cost effective.I do a round trip of 38 miles per day that costs £25 per week for petrol but if i take the train i have to walk approx 1.5 miles per day on top of paying £8 RTN for sitting/standing in an overcrowded train, So i think i will stick to my door-door comfortable & warm car.And anyway i drive a truck for a living
  29. Keep people from using mobile phones.
  30. Inconveinient, inefficient and ludicrously expensive. As a business its doomed in its present form and cannot compete with a car for the reasons above. Whats irritating to me is that we here have a chance to reduce carbon emissions by making public transport available, safe, clean, reliable and cost effective. That doesnt pay the shareholders though does it? How about giving electronic credits to Car Owners every time they use Public transport? These credits could offset road tax, it would be a consideration for me I think. Perhaps we could look at other models of public transport, see how they are funded and run. I understand Scandanavian countries do a much better job although thats hearsay. I took a train to London it cost 28 quid return. Thats just me. If I was married with kids goodness knows what that would cost. It would be cheaper to drive, park on double yellows in the middle of piccadilly, get fined and drive home for such a family. Maybe a few should do that! Im also told its cheaper to bunk a train and pay a fine than buy a ticket in some cases. Who runs these outfits? ok Im rambling now...
