What CA city has the best public transport system?

I greatly prefer public transport to personal cars, and I want to stay in CA, but what area has the best system? Something affordable and easy with a wide range, any help would be great!

1. San Francisco. No other CA city comes close.
2. I agree San Fran.
3. I live in So Cal and the transit here sucks. Bay area has the BART system that I heard is pretty good.
4. San Fransisco is almost definately the best.
5. mimicking otheres, BART takes you everywhere in the east bay and SF and the OAK and SFO airports. Caltrans takes you where you cant go on BART and the buses are pretty reasonable all over the bay...
