Location Transport

Why is there no public transport in Arlington, TX?

I am a student without a car and have joined UTA this fall. I wonder why there is no public transport facility at Arlington? Do you guys have any answers? Is there something that can be done to initiate something with, probably the mayor, or the city of arlington officials??

  1. Unfortunately, like many mid-size American cities, there is very little public transportation. However, most large universities have large numbers of students without cars, so I'm sure they have something available, maybe a shuttle system or something. I think your best bet would be to get involved with UTA student government and bring up the issue. The university can negotiate with the city a lot better than individuals.
  2. The University operates a Saturday only shuttle bus mostly for the International students to go shopping. You could work with the student government and university leaders to extend the shuttle schedule - either all students have cars or students are willing to walk to their off-campus apartments on bright streets with wide sidewalks.
