Location Transport

What do you think of London buses?

I personnally dont drive a car......But use public transport to get to and from work everyday, which at times can take near 2 hours for an half hour journey!!! and thats the quickest route....... Mr Ken has this big idea that he wants to cut down on the fuel in london by putting money up on taxes, congestion charge etc, yet he will bump up the prices on travel to £2.00 per trip!!!! Dont you think this is just too much? Is Ken just a waste of time being Mayor.....? I even had my own mother injure herself on a bus last week because the bus driver was so dangerous hit on her brakes hard and my mum got flung forward causing damage..... do you think bud drivers should be investigated like all other drivers INCLUDING SPEEDING!!!!!! dont deny it bus drivers they all do it....... They even have the cheek to go on stike to ask for more money..... Maybe they should pay passengers to travel on their buses!!! Just think your putting your life in their hands!!!

  1. Dude!! { Girl?}...You need a car. Public trans. has completely stressed you out!!!
  2. busses r great bring back the route master
  3. I tottaly agree mate, £2.00 a trip and very poor service. The attitude of the majority of bus drivers stinks and the timing is hit & miss
  4. Yep - the public transport system in London just sucks ... !!!! Good luck for the price rise and best wishes for the new year ! ;^)
  5. As a northerner, I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone voted for Livingstone to be mayor, when he was a complete clown as a politician. The main problem with public transport is having to share it with the public.....
  6. then look better when not blown half apart by sand niggers
  7. well londen buses are cool yo i perfrer to ride on the top i live in lunden and i know haw bad the publick transport is some days so every day i ride the bus to work every day yea kin is a big wast of space being mayor i was on the bus crash it hurt i broke my left arm but i still ride it all the time
  8. I don't have a car either. I would comment that London buses are now better than they have ever been in my lifetime (I'm 52). There are more buses on more routes running more reliably than ever. There is simply no comparison with the lowest point in the 1970's when London unquestionably had the worst bus service in Britain. The main problem now is the hopeless traffic congestion that causes disruption at all times of the day. I agree that a cash fare of £2 is excessive (though you can travel to the end of the route for that fare) but very few people pay a cash fare- most have passes or oyster cards. The cost of a one day bus pass is low.
  9. Whenever I'm in London, I only use the tube, which works just fine. Some bus drivers are okay, but others seem completely nuts. Red Ken is a complete moron, and a self-righteous pillock to boot. He's obsessed with making money out of people travelling in London. Notice how it's called a congestion charge, even though they base it on the idea of pollution? By doing that, they free themselves from having to re-invest the money into actually solving pollution problems. How many other similar weasel-word situations can you think of involving our glorious leaders?
  10. The trouble with the London Buses is that now you have to pay for the free transporting of children over the age of five. I don't think that they should have given children free travel albeit with an oyster photo card, children are the worst for pushing in front of other passengers who my have been waiting 10 minutes before the bus turns up yet still think that they should be first on the bus. And by the time they have all pushed on there is NO room for fare paying passengers (if you have an oyster card you are still paying). As to the bus drivers some of them don't give a s*** about passenger safety, they pull away quick and stop suddenly, thus throwing passengers about before they have had a chance to sit down. Then there is the drivers who stop at a bus stop. the bus is at least 2 to 3 ft away from the kerb, or the doors where you get of are in line with a railings/rubbish bins or some other obstacle. Although some times this is due to careless car drivers who park on top of bus stops. I have noticed that some bus drivers go through the occasional red light, although it may have just changed. But hey then again some car drivers do the same. Why are drivers ignoring Traffic Lights? I've wondered of the point a bit. The Thing Is, Is Public Transport for the Public or for money grabbing Co's and Gov bodies?
  11. Although we have all had bad experiences using buses in London, public transport is key to the infrastructure of the city and without them the city would grind to a halt as more and more cars with just 1 person clog up the main arteries until, eventually - gridlock!! Without Ken Livingstone the above scenario would today be a reality. Buses would be virtually none existent and those that did run would be too expensive for most people to use regularly. Luckily Ken has increased the number of buses on the streets and ensured that they are affordable to all. Children under 15 pay nothing, there is free travel for pensioners and the introduction of the Oyster Card means that there is a maximum single fare on any journey, regardless of destination. I agree that a significant minority of bus drivers lack basic interpersonal skills and perhaps Ken needs to consider how bus companies provide training in this particular area. I have also witnessed passengers behaving in anti-social and threatening ways towards bus drivers without any provocation - not all problems with buses are the fault of the driver and/or Ken. We all have a responsibility for ensuring our and everybody else's comfort and safety on public transport. Think on!!
  12. Public transport in London is unbelievably superb and is the envy of most of the civilised world. Buy a season ticket instead of paying individual fares. In Central London possibly they should bring back the Routemaster with the open back platform to allow passengers to hop on and off between stops. Then again the Health and Safety brigade would have a field day in the event of an accident.....yet another Catch 22 situation. Why blame the bus driver if he/she has to brake hard? Blame the idiot who caused the incident instead of always blaming the bus company or its employees who provide a generally superb job in the most arduous of working conditions. The money isn't too bad in truth but who wants to breathe in other vehicles exhaust fumes all day AND put up with ignorant passengers? It only takes one to ruin a perfectly good shift. Congestion is caused by having too many private cars on the road usually carrying only the driver.....they should be "persuaded" to use alternative means of getting to their destination. Don't know too much about the Mayor situation but he is only doing his best for the people who elected him democratically.
  13. I was never to keen on using buses to go around London...but then after the bombing I decided to get myself a scooter... Best decision I ever took!!!
