Location Transport

Are people who think Public transport is a viable alternative to personal vehicles deluded or stupid?

Just how many more people do you think can use the London Underground daily? And the Buses? GW I'm no fool and the question was about it's viability I.E. for someone who has to walk two miles to catch a bus then walk another mile to work! Now you think about that and keep your insults to yourself

  1. I bet girls find you really interesting...........NOT
  2. It has to be the Greens, nuff said?
  3. I don't live where public transportation is available other then the buss. So i cant know the problem,s you face. Howe ever i have all way,s heard that the more the merrier. Dose this not apply ?
  4. Both, and can you please put your hand over your mouth when you are yawning - it's rude!
  5. i'd say that public transport IS the answer, but it would require far more investment than any government would be willing to spend. oh, and there are a lot af selfish people out there.
  6. i live in spain & the part i live in i have anhour walk before any public tracport! but if it was near me & cheap then i would use it!
  7. OK think about it this way, a london double decker with 70 people on board or 70 cards with 1 person on board. What do you think now. Is it viable to keep pollution down and traffic off the roads. I think so as far as being stupid or deluded, i believe that is your problem. An increase in public transport is needed but if people don't get out of there cars and start using them how are the operators going to know how many extra vehicles they need to purchase or lease to transport these bodies. Its no good buying 10 buses to carry 40 people when 1 would do and likewise 10 buses wont carry 2000 people. Use your brain and stop being a fool
  8. Deluded. In theory it would be great, but in reality it wouldn't be enough
  9. I would much much MUCH prefer to use the bus its just not possible. Unfortunately these people who believe its a real alternative are deluded. Public transport is too expensive, too unreliable, they never go to where you want without having to change bus or train about 60 billion times, it takes a lot longer & never go at convienient times! People will continue to use their cars until public transport proves itself to be the better option.
  10. 'Stupid' is maybe a strong word to use, but deluded-possibly, and certainly optimistic. In no major UK city could the existing public transport system cope with the requirements of everyone getting to work on time, and I question the logic of simply 'improving' it, as more buses would mean more congestion. From an environmental viewpoint, more buses in our towns would be disastrous. Has nobody noticed that even where they do manage to limit or completely prohibit the ingress of private cars, the pollution levels have not improved? We can thank our friend the Diesel engine for this, particularly the huge, million-miles-on-the-clock, poorly maintained specimens of the breed as fitted to buses. Near where I live, a bus depot recently opened, and within six months, all the surrounding buildings have turned black, and the permanent haze of Diesel fumes in the area is horrendous! Ironically, by keeping small petrol engined cars out of our cities, we are adding to the problem, since modern cat-equipped cars will actually clean some of the worst of the particulates out of the air as they drive!
  11. I would imagine than anyone who works regular office hours, and has a bus stop on a direct route to their workplace, close to their house, then public transport (in this case the bus) would be a sensible option. This may come as a shock to you, but not all Britons live or work in London.
  12. No they aren't. Try not insulting people and you won't be insulted back.
