Location Transport

I need information on Canvey Island. Perhaps links to flats for rent, information on public transport...?

General cost of living....I am relocating there to work as a teacher. We want to find a simple place to start, as my husband will not be able to work immediately and is unsure as to what type of work he will want to do. My job is located in Canvey Island, and we don't plan on getting a car for the onset, but will eventually. What towns are close to canvey island? where to avoid? etc. Thank you. 1. I cannot tell you about flats but I can tell you about travel, the nearest railway station is Benfleet which is on the Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street line. It is a 50 minute journey to London and while Fenchurch Street does not have it own underground Station, Tower Hill which is on the Circle Line is two minutes walk
2. benfleet is closest to canvey island but you're not far along from southend or basildon either.....buses run regularly all around this area but be warned public transport in essex is very expensive!!! you would be better off with a car to be honest....parts of the area are nothing to write home about drab and uninteresting but some are quite pleasant....i have taught in the area myself and you get a complete mix of people......hope you have a great time
