La Rochelle to Ile De Re by public transport ?

We are flying to La Rochelle next month and need to get to Ile De Re by public transport. What is the best way to do this, and where do we catch the bus from at the airport ?. Any information would be greatly appreciated I should also add that my French is very poor, but I am working on it, so instructions in English please.

2. There is a bus that will take you from the airport to the city center in La Rochelle. There is then a bus to the Ile de Re from the train station.
