are auto accident reports public records in canada?
i have reason to believe that my nanny was in a car accident while transporting my children. i don't want to press charges, i just want to know if there was such an accident. how can i find out?
Public Comments
- Probably, they are in the USA.
- Ask her straight out. If you doubt her answer, she shouldn't be trusted to take care of your kids. You can also call the police department in the area where the supposed accident took place. Speak with an officer and explain the situation. They have to tell you, as the child's legal guardian, if they were in the vehicle.
- NO!! The only time they will become public record is if the accident causes death or bodily injury, and the person is charged. The reason for accident reporting is to determine whether criminal charges should be laid, and help in the investigations for insurance companies. Until that report is read out in a court of law it is not part of the public record.
