Can anyone tell me how much is the cost of transportation in Malaysia (Public Transport & Taxi)?
I'm meeting my cousin in KL for a Holiday, Both of us haven't been to Malaysia. I'm coming from Singapore & she's coming from the Philippines. We're staying there for 3 nights & 3 days. Would it be worth it to just take cabs from one point to another while going to various states (Malacca, Pahang,Selangor,Negeri Sembilan) or can we get something like an EZ-Link card like what we have in Singapore? Please advise as our trip is already on May 1 and I need to do my budget. Thanks in advance.... My cousin is travelling by plane and would land at KLIA on May 2, I am travelling by bus and would arrive at Puduraya Bus Station, we are going to stay in KL during the span of our holiday. Thanks for the itenerary suggestions, we were thinking of having City Tour for th 1st day (KL & Selangor), Island/beach 2nd day (Tioman?), then Heritage & historical (Malacca) 3rd day. Please advise if we have enough time and if our plans are feasible... Thanks! Does Malaysia have an EZ-Link card or something so we can avoid the hassle of queuing to get tickets and all that?

- hi there. thanx for choosing Malaysia as your holiday destination. I think it would take much time if you wanna go to 4 states in 3 days. I recommended you to go to Malacca, Selangor and KL. Are you coming by airplane or others [bus/car]? If by flight, you can take ERL from KLIA to KL Central. A single ride will cost you rm38 per person. You can start travelling around KL once you're reach KL Sentral. From KL Sentral, you can go to national museum, planetarium, memorials, bird park, butterfly park, orchid park, deer park. the walking distance is around 20mins. Bus shuttle are provided.if im not mistaken. RM 2 per ride. at night, you can go to central market ot petaling streets. maybe you can spend time shopping at KLCC, Pavillion and Berjaya Times Square. At KLCC, i recommend you go to Aquaria, the biggest aquarium in town.it cost rm38 perperson. feel free to buy souveneirs once you visit these places. [note: each park's fees is around rm20] on the second day, you go to puduraya terminal [situated not far from central market] and take bus inside the terminal [not outside the terminal, it will cost you double than usual] and choose Transnasional ticket booth and buy ticket to Malacca. It will cost around RM10-13.if you take cab, it will cost more than rm100. the journey to malacca will take 2 hours. When you arrive at Malacca, you can go various places especially at Bandar Hilir.you can buy souveneirs at bandar hilir. on the evening [around 5-6], go to pernu umbai for fresh grilled seafood. the price is reasonable. on the 3rd day morning, you can take bus from malacca and go to shah alam, selangor. not sure about the cost, but it will cost more than rm15. when you reach shah alam, take a cab to shah alam musuem, botanical garden and spent time at dataran shah alam. later, you can go to wetworld and aquarium. wetworld is place where you can play water and have fun. next to wetworld is aquarium. it have plenty of unique fish species. if you have more time, go to sungei wang plaza and experience a night in KL. from shah alam, you can take bus no. U80 to kl sentral. ticket is rm2. at kl sentral, take monorail train to bukit bintang. thats my recommendation. hope you can plan your journey. Happy holiday! p/s: 1. i dont recommend you to choose cab from kl to malacca. you'll be surprise with the price given 2. please bring along maps [you get the maps for each states from the malaysian tourism's booth at KL Sentral]
- For 3 days vacation , i think u should just go to Melaka & KL only....its almost complete. LRT in KL & taxi in Melaka. From KL to Melaka by bus.
- Suggest you take a look at a map before May 1st (which, incidentally, is a Public Holiday)! Malaysia is not quite so tiny as Singapore! Unless you fly, Tioman is out. (It's probably as easy to get there from Singapore as KL). Do NOT waste ANY time going to Shah Alam (I can't believe how anyone could suggest this as a "place of interest")! Actually, you can probably occupy the 3 days just in KL itself. Within KL you can reach most places that you'd be interested in visiting by using either the LRT or the Monorail. If you're "shopaholics", you might also consider visiting 1 Utama and the nearby complex in Mutiara Damansara (the Curve/Ikano/Ikea). The Curve is especially good for dining, you can eat just about any kind of food there in the Eastern & Western courtyards. There are shuttle buses operate from the city centre to 1 Utama, but in any case a cab would probably cost you less than Sing$8. If you absolutely MUST see something outside of KL, then Melakka is probably your best choice, but bear in mind you'll need to allocate 5-6 hours round trip travel time. An alternative trip out might be to Genting Highlands? There's not very many easily accessible "must-see" attractions in Pahang (other than Taman Negara for which you simply don't have the time), Negeri Sembilan nor Selangor (which state anyway surrounds the Federal Territory).
- My friend, you and your cousin can meet at KL Central.Your cousin is suggested to take ERL(one of the light train)from KLIA to KL Central while you can take Rapid KL train from Puduraya to KL central that cost a little than taking a cab that usally about RM10.00.It is the easiest way to meet each other at KL Central, the center of the light transport. 3 Days and 3 Night is a short period.I'm not suggested you to plan to go to Tioman Island,Malacca, and also KL+Selangor. The distances between all these are too far and need to take a really long period. As an alternative, the first day you can visit arround KL.Lots of interesting place that you can visit with your cousin and majority of the visitn spot can be reached by Monorail,Rapid KL train or Metrobus. The Second day you can visit Malacca. From KL at Puduraya to Malacca Central, you can go by Bus only.Lots of trip provided by Bus Operator such as Transnasional and more.At Malacca, you can try decorated and beautiful trishaw instead of using taxi. The third day I suggest you to Negeri Sembilan. If you want to stay at the beach,Port Dickson(PD) is the best answer. From Malacca Central to PD,you can take bus or taxi. You also can visit Nilai, paradise of shopping. I hope you can have a nice trip.I pray you will have a nice day with you cousin.
