What are your strategies to improve public transport in Sydney?

- OK, I realise I'm dreaming here, but how about taking away all the tax-payer funded Commonwealth cars from the NSW Mp's and issuing them with bus/train passes instead!
- What she said! I think it could actually work. I think higher fuel prices are going to help too. having an on-line car pooling database to get people from their homes to public transport nodes, or having secure cycle lockers at railway stations and bus stops might help too.
- Lower Fares on city rail trains
- Set up zone systems like in Melbourne. You can ride trams, buses, trains, ferries etc using the same ticket. Melbourne also has a "Sunday Saver" ticket which only costs $2.50 and you can use it to travel to all the zones in Melbourne, Sydney could also have a similar ticket.
- Ban all private cars in the CBD. This would make people need public transport!
- kick the ass holes out of office to start with they have had far to long to get it right i could do it standing on my head first they need to spend some money on new bus /train and not just 5 or 10 but more like 500 more busses and a few hundred trains then more staff so there for u have just created at least 700 more jobs so its a win win for transport and employment only thing is it would take a few months to roll the stock out cause they work for the govement and as we all know they aint the quickest workers around sorta like the council
- its impossible. sydney is already dveloped. under and over ground railways can no longer be developed. bus lanes cannot be built without demolishing billions of dollars of property. illawarra lines cannot be fixed because of the geographical location of them. norther lines could have modifiations to increase the loadage. moslty i would concentrate on buying new trains and fixing up the trains cleanliness and security.
- i think the goverment has to give more money to buy new busse,s and new train,s also more security on them
- My strategy would be to get rid of john howard and put the wiggles into parliment, and i'm sure with some persuasion they will make up a magical number 41 bus because they are already encouraging car-pooling (we have all seen them in the toot-toot chuga-luga big red car... dont deny it). Picture the advertisement campagain..... red yellow and green wiggles get onto a city rail train carriage and see what they think is a sleeping homeless person.... but no... its the weird looking purple wiggle! and they all sing "WAKE UP JEFF" and dorothy the dinosaur and captain feather sword and wags the dog... and even the big red car appear in the train and they all sing and dance. i dont think u would ever see mr howard in an advertisement like that.
- 1. add two more carriage lengths to every platform for more carriages to be able to stop also add those carriages to the trains. 2. add four more hours to the working day (NOT TO WORK LONGER) but to stagger the work hours for employees, so that not so many people need to get the train at once.
