  3. You don't have much knowledge of how big Australia is, do you? There is NO public transport directly between Sydney and Hobart. You take a train from Sydney to Melbourne. It is a 12 hours trip. Then you can take a ferry to Hobart which is an overnight trip. The Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Sydney to Hobart NO LONGER OPERATES. It had to shut down that service several months ago because there were not enough travellers using the ferry. I think the cheapest way - really - is to fly. There are so many cheap services these days.
  4. Yes, fly Sydney to Hobart. Anything else will take at least a couple of days.
