8 days in Sydney in July - Best place to stay?

Hi! I have an 18 yr old and a 16 yr old and would like to stay in The Rocks, but somewhere near all the good pubs, attractions and public transport. We are on a moderate budget so about $150 to $200 . Thank you !!
