Location Transport

I need to get from downtown San Francisco to Emeryville using public transport. Any suggestions?

I'm visiting San Francisco this summer and want to go to Rudy's Can't Fail in Emeryville. I won't have a car. I hear the veggie chilli is something else!

  1. Go to 511.org's trip planner, you put in the addresses and it will spell it out in detail. My guess is you'd take bart to macarthur, then take the free emeryville shuttles. You can link trip planner at: http://transit.511.org/tripplanner/index.asp
  2. BART and the bus
  3. Have you even been to Emeryville before? It is located next to the city of Oakland and it is a dangerous place to visit without a car. You can always take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) and get off at West Oakland and take buses or walk to your destination. But the only people I would suggest doing that or can do that in that neighborhood are ghetto people. Here are the things it might happen to you and your friends if you visit Emeryville/Oakland without a transportation: 1. Get Rubbed/mugged 2. Get shot 3. Get killed 4. Get raped 5. Get stabbed 6. Get beat up My suggestion is if you really need to eat the veggie chilli, then rent a car for a day and visit the restaurant during the day and take a scenic drive to the North Bay. I am not trying to scare you, but I wouldn't go to Emeryville by myself without a car.
  4. This one is easy. Take BART (the train) and get off at McCarthur station in Oakland I believe. Then get on the free bus called the "Emery-go-round" that comes by about every 20 minutes.
  5. I use to work in Emeryville when I was living in San Francisco 2 years ago and it isn't as dangerous as the previous comment suggests. In fact, the city of Emeryville largely consists of shopping malls, many of which are upscale. The Bay Street Emeryville outdoor shopping complex is almost comparable to Santana Row in San Jose. There is an AMC movie theatre and great restaurants and shops. Also, IKEA and Best Buy are all located in Emeryville. Expression Center for New Media, the art school, is also located in Emeryville. The cities of Oakland and Berkeley surround Emeryville, and they are equally lovely cities with many wonderful features, even though yes, there are some dangerous neighborhoods in Oakland. But, what major metropolitan city doesn't have dangerous neighborhoods? This being the case, anytime you travel to any large city, it is always best to be alert and knowledgeable about whatever areas of the city you choose to travel to. Also, once you arrive to Emeryville by BART, Amtrak, or AC Transit, the City of Emeryville provides a free shuttle called the Emery GoRound that can drop you off at various locations--mainly shopping destinations--around Emeryville. The shuttle can pick you up at the Bart station and runs every 10 minutes during peak hours on the weekdays, and every 20 minutes during off-peak hours. On the weekends, it runs every 30 mins. Hope this helps!
