How do I find out the Paint Colour for my VW Transporter?

Its a 1982 Transporter (aircooled rear engine) in a mid blue colour, we need to do some bodywork and I want a similar shade to the original. Cheap is good, so it needs to be matched to an off the peg current paint in a close shade if possible
