How do I fix the brakelights and blinkers on my 1968 VW Transporter?

Already replaced the bulbs, it has something to do with the wires but I don't know which is which...

1. Get new bulbs. Got to a auto parts store and tell them what kind of car it is and they can give you new bulbs. O and tell them what they are for like brakelights and blikers.
2. Start at the master cylinder, take the wires for brake lights touch together have friend see if brake lights burn if not replace brake light switch. Check EVERY bulb holder to be sure they grounded good.
