How does shipping work on Amazon as a seller?

If I sell something on Amazon, how do I ship it? Since the buyer pays the shipping, how do I actually send the package through the post office without paying for it?

1. The buyer sends you the money for shipping. Or more specifically, buyer pays shipping fee to Amazon, and Amazon pays you the sale price less commissions plus the shipping fees But the Post Office does not know that. And the Post Office did NOT receive the payment straight from the buyer Since it is you who received the payment, then you pay the PO when you mail the item. It will be YOU who will pay the post office; after all, you already received the shipping fee Be careful though when doing international shipping. I've had instances when the shipping fee collected by Amazon from the buyer was insufficient because it was a heavy book. However, in the email from Amazon notifying you of the sale, they state that you are obligated to send the item -- EVEN if the shipping fee is insufficient. Shipping fee is a flat rate, so if you exceed that fee, you cover the deficit I never shipped international after that. Priority, yes, but never international
