Is it normal to charge shipping for free equipment?

My manager is sending out some TV equipment for commercial accounts, but he is wondering if it is a norm to charge the user shipping & handling even we are providing the equipment for free? Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  1. Sure, it happens all the time.
  2. Sure, particularly if it's a distance far enough that it's not feasible for either party to hand deliver it. Just don't jack the S&H price. Although if it's for charity or something like that I'd say eat the cost.
  3. I would think it was normal. The item is free but I don't think the retailer would be expected to pay the shipping as well. I know a lot of companies do that.
