Location Transport

Will Fedex, DHL, UPS, or any other shipping company leave my package at the door or do I have to be home?

I'm ordering a package and I'd like it delivered to my house but working during drop off times. I also don't own a car, so I cannot pick it up at the office. If I make a note, will they drop it off on my porch or back porch if I'm not home? It's a laptop. Will that matter?

1. i know ups will leave it at your doorstep, but DHL and fedex require a signature for the package.
2. my experience Fed Ex don't need signature, only if requested on air bill. UPS don't need signature as well
3. Most times leaving packages is not a problem. For a high-value item such as a laptop most shippers (dell, gateway) require signatures. UPS must follow the shippers instructions.
