What shipping method could I use?
I want to sell a board game I am making through the mail and I need help figuring out which type of shipping I can send it as. I have two versions, one is made of wood with the print being wood burnt on the surface and the other is a cloth game board with ink printed as the board. Can either of these be sent as Media Mail through USPS? If not how would USPS know what is inside if the don't accept wood as Media. Also if not, what is the cheapest or most common way things like this are sent? What about FedEx, UPS and DHL's shipping methods? The weight of the package will be less than 5 pounds I'm not sure of totals exactly at this point.

- Media mail is only for mail books, sound recordings, recorded video tapes, printed music, and recorded computer-readable media. Your product doesn't fit that bill.I don't know how they would penalize you, but I'm sure the fines aren't worth being caught. That said, if shipping to consumers, you probabally will want a tracking number and signiture at delivery. UPS, FED EX and DHL ground are very cost effective. They have features like insight (fed ex) proview (dhl) that let you see the status of all your orders which is great for CS. You won't want to ship Air, as the dimension will likely incur DIM weights (search on their sites) Regional carriers can also provide some value. redroller.com is a good resource to compare their prices. If shipping internationally I would check out www.bongous.com. Good luck.
