Shipping a car from Philippines to US?
Does anyone here have any experience with shipping a car from the Philippines to the United States? Specifically, I'm looking at buying a converted left-hand drive Nissan Skyline shipped from RP to US. Are there any difficulties or large costs associated with doing this (aside from cost of shipping), appreciate answers from people who've done this or know of people that have done it. Salamat! FYI, if you know anything about cars you'd know that the Nissan Skyline is one of the most desired sports cars worldwide with a limited number in existence (around 250K worldwide). You can't buy a Nissan Skyline from a US dealer, used or new car dealer. They can be found on the black market for around $30,000 or more.

- very expensive
- I would contact a local Nissan dealer and ask them.
- it would be cheaper to buy a new one in the usa. other then shipping cost your vechile must meets all the US standards. could be very costly to add this cost along with shipping and customs.
- I have never done it,but I do know that you will have to make the car meet US safety and emission standards before they will allow you to drive it here. There will also be inspection fee's and customs tariffs and fee's.
- If you are going to ship a car you will have to contact a shipping lines or freight forwarder to handle the move. Your car will be stuffed in a 20' van container and the freight charge will vary... for USWC and USEC normally its (CY-CY) container yard to container yard.... All expenses for export processing is for the account of shipper and all charges at destination (customs clearance, inland haulage etc. etc.) is for the account of consignee. Check with a customs broker US side they will tell you all the needed requirements for importation including do's and don'ts, also they will be able to give you an idea how much would it cost to customs clear your cargo at destination.
- If you somehow get a Skyline to the US I'll be extremely jealous. Especially a '94 Skyline, that's the bomb... are you into drifting?
- Well I know a couple peole that have tried it. Cars made in Asia are made to a lower safety standard than U.S. Cars. It would never pass US Department of Transportation Standards (DOT) and be impounded and not alowed to clear customs. Besides the average $2000 shipping costs and import fees.
- It's way to expensive. 1st. ocean freight from the states plus freight insurance. 2nd. Filling the Philippine paperwork is a joke and that I point I gave up. After getting the estimates, it would be easier to lease a car than actually shipping one. Oh I forgot the mention the officials who have their had out in order to speed the paperwork process. The best thing to do is either lease it or just buy a car, its pricey but what can you do. I leased a car for a six month period and had no problems.
