- Before doing anything on this, check to make sure that Pakistani fuels are compatible with a British automobile. It is, for example, completely impractical to transport a car either way between the US and Saudi Arabia -- Saudi fuel is leaded, and will wreck a catalytic converter.
- Depends on the colour of the car. Blues cars have to be shipped upside down. That's our tradition.
- After you have taken rhsaunders advice and you still want to take your car to Pakistan you will be looking at about £800 regardless of the value of the car, on top of that you will have to take out insurance for car on the voyage so if you work on the lines of about £1,000 to get your car to Pakistan then you should have enough left over to buy yourself a meal and a drink - It will cost the same to bring the car back again unless of course you are planning on keeping it out there in which case you will have to inform the DVLA and fill in loads of forms for them and of course if you are keeping it out there you will have to pay the Pakistani government Import duty, I haven't got a clue how much that would be but if it is anything like the UK's duty you will be looking at about 33% of the value of the car, so on your £2,000 car you will be looking at £660 import duty - you could of course say you are not going to keep it over there.. but then you would be introduced to the Pakistani Prison Service.. not recommended. Your best bet is to take your £2,000 and buy a car out there, you will probably get a much better car for your money out there.
- It will cost more than the car is worth
- Much of the advice already given is correct. You need to check with the Pakistan Customs to find out if you can import a car and how they assess any duty you will be required to pay, you might even need an import license. You will also have to register the vehicle on arrival and pay any tax or insurance required. You also need to check if spares for the vehicle you are taking are available in Pakistan, if you have to import spares the cost of using the car will increase by a considerable amount. Fuel also as mentioned can be an issue, to run an old engine on unleaded you can use an additive but don't know about running unleaded on leaded. Once you have checked out all of this and added shipping costs along with agents fees and insurance you will probably decide to keep the money and buy a car when you arrive, this will also have the advantage of being local car and with a supply of parts available. Check out with the link below which also gives a contact phone number, this link also provides a table with a guide to amounts to be paid based on engine size, if you have to pay I would not bother as rates are very high.
- Hi,have read the link jay jay has given.I would not take the car looks to me has if its not worth the hassle.
