having trouble getting into gear especially from 3rd to 2nd with vw transporter t25 1.9.?

sometimes no problem othertimes a real pain. try to be gentle!can it be fixed as im dying to have a stress free drive!!!

1. It sounds like you have a synchronizer going bad. You can "double clutch" which means yo push in the clutch to take it out of gear, let it out, then push it in to put it into gear. It takes practice but you can put off replacing the parts for a while.
2. Volksy's are not meant to be shifted gently. Guaranteed to grind if you try and float them in. SHIFT IT! Don't play with it. No messing around. It is the length of the shifter that doesn't allow it to go in more crisper. If anything your clutch cable might need adjusting. It is not a whoosy transmission. It also matters if you are shifting out of the recommended speed range. There is a "sweet range" where it goes in without the clutch. If you are going too fast and you try shifting from 3rd to second it is harder to do(you may get grinding), and if you are going to slow in 3rd and you "play shift" into second you will do the same(grind). I can't say for sure where you would grind the most because I don't shift in those odd ball areas. The motor lacks the torque there.
