How does shipping US companies to countries like India and Mexico help Americans?
Shouldn't US companies either be given tax breaks to keep jobs in the US or else be charged higher taxes for shipping out?

- Those tax breaks wouldn't help. Union costs and every other cost associated with producing goods in America are too high, it would force these companies either out of buisness or make the cost to the consumers way too high.
- It only helps the individual companies in the short run by offering them low cost workers, which means higher profits. Then they realize that all the other companies have fired their middle-wage U.S. workers and moved their jobs to another country, and that those once middle class workers are now working for Walmart or McDonalds. The once-upon-a-time Middle Class can no longer afford to buy the products of these companies. Once their money is gone, or they are deep in debt from having too much hope, sales begin to plummet. Those who are still employed at higher wages start complaining that every time they try to get customer service, neither they nor the customer service representative can understand each other. Customers begin to get frustrated with the company and think, "What the heck is the use of being with this company if I can't get the help I need?" The company discovers, much to their dismay, that their profits begin to plummet. And then the country begins to wonder, "I thought all of the indicators said that the economy was strong?" From what I understand, SPRINT has been one of the first companies to realize this, and are getting rid of their customer service contract with India. I can't tell you if anyone else has realized this yet or not... As for tax breaks? Most companies are paying half of the tax base that they did 100 years ago, and some companies (Walmart...cough cough) have found loopholes allowing them to pay absolutely no taxes at all. How would giving them a tax break help?
- with most of the companies money focused on meeting regulations and strict guidlines... they are forced to find cheaper work force outside the US. You can't expect them to pay top dollar for US workers and pay over the top on regulations and strict guidines at the same time... it would kill the economy and the companies and jobs
- It helps the company owners fill their pockets and that is all it helps. Most of the countries they relocate in do not have our strict environmental rules so they don't have to spend the money to protect the environment there yet. Those countries also don't have all the retirement, sick days, vacation, and health insurance companies have to provide here. I do feel these companies should have a harder time to relocate in other countries. I also feel in the near future when these company owners come home with their pockets full the American taxpayers will foot the bill to clean up the countries they have polluted.
- yes. In my state, our governor did just that...rejected a blanket business tax, in favor of a tax break for businesses who keep jobs here. She is a democrat, thoough, and they aren't the ones making all of the decisions
- They are in most cases . As an experienced person in the field of Industry and Manufacturing, it might help you to know that they are leaving and sometimes even folding. . . . . due to ignorance !!!! Scores of trade shows showing better technologies for the manufacturing sector . PROBLEM ? Far too many US manufacturers were reluctant to change to better technology. . . .until it was too late . They were done. and by their own short-sightedness . Ask ANYONE in the Manufacturing sector who has trade show and technology experience .
- Well, first and foremost, it does not help Americans. It helps America and the few Americans who are actually shipping the business oversees. Get it? That is Capitalism's greatest flaw, it's all about profit and companies will try to get the most profit while spending as little as they can to achieve that profit. Also, the cost of American employess is way too high for the companies. Like for customer service, they have to pay around 40K for one American while they pay 10K for the whole customer service team abroad! That's healthy for the business but not for the American who wants to get a job. See? Then in addition to the 40K, there will be the benefits, medical, dental insurance that American companies have to pay to their American employess while thay don't have to do that to foreign employees. So, the taxes you wanted impose will be crushed in court by American companies.
- thats part of our beloved capitalism
