I am looking into a prepaid wireless phone plan...any recommends on Net10 or Virgin Mobile?

Virgin Mobile seems pretty good, the phone/plan I'm interested asks for $19.99/free UPS Ground ship and you get the phone ("free"), $19.99 in minutes (it's 18 cents/min. though) and a bonus $5 in minutes. If I choose the $15 Auto Top-Up option, the service will keep working even if I add $15 every 90 days or (3) when your balance hits $5 or once every 90 days, whichever comes first. I would only use this for emergencies or very light conversations. With Net 10, I bought a phone (can return, haven't opened) for $40, it includes 300 minutes w/60 days of service and is always 10 cents/min. Afterwards I can go with $15/month auto pay for 150 minutes. Any comments? I'm still a little confused about prepaids, so any help would be appreciated! Thank you! The $5 bonus airtime is some kind of new account activation promo...

  1. Go with Virgin Mobile definitely! They are one of the best prepaids around. I have heard lots of horror stories about net10 service.
  2. I find that T Mobile has by far and wide the BEST deal, I bought one for my cousin for her B-Day, 30 bucks a month well covers as many minutes as she will use.
  3. I would stick with the Net10. You get more bang for your buck because the minutes are cheaper. I have used TracFone, GoPhone, and Virgin Mobile prepaids before, and my friend has always had Net10, and she always spent less than I did.
  4. i would suggest you get the virgin plan. But when a phone company promotes their phones as "free" you have to pay a monthly handset repayment fee over 12 or 24 months. A prepaid plan is the best, no bills come in the mail and it is very simple. i would still go with virgin though, they have better coverage and you will have to pay for the phone regardless...(F#$@^NG Fine print!)
  5. T-mobile prepaid buy the phone around 60dollars. Buy one hundred dollars time good for one year. while adding time you get a discount. I bought my phone last September and today I still have 600 minutes.
