What is the strength of 4 containers stacked 2 rows wide 2 rows high?
Hi yall, I wish to build my house out of 4 X40 ft shipping containers stacked 2 rows wide and 2 floors high. Where the internal side walls of each container meet, If i were to remove half the internal walls or all the internal walls excluding the ceilings, would I need to install columns for more support, would the bottom floor be able to support the top floor? Would I need support columns on the exterior of the building? Cheers Seno

- That's mad crazy man.
- probably best to check you local zoning first, they may have floor thickness requirements that you will need to meet in addition to preventing collapse of your house.
- I believe you need to speak to the building code people they will explain how it should be done or direct you to a source that can. What your proposing to do I believe is not acceptable.
- you want to build a house from shipping containers? maybe you should have a professional build you a house instead.
