Location Transport

How should I transport my car across the country?

I'm from California and I'm moving to Massachusetts this summer. I was wondering what's the best way to transport my car there. i have a pretty old car.. it has over 280,000 miles on it. Should i drive it there myself? Have it transported in the plane? Have a truck take it there for me? i have a honda accord 1990

  1. The most efficient way and cheapest would be by train.
  2. I was going to say you should drive it, but that may not be a good idea since it has so many miles on it. I drove my car from FL to PA, but it wasn't that old. Driving it would be ideal, but the next best bet is to look into truck transport. They can transport it in an open cart (cheaper) or closed.
  3. Well if it has that many miles and you think it will make the long trip then go for it. but something with that many miles depends on what kind of car it is and what condition it is. If you transport it by truck would cost you around 800-1200. Is the car worth that much? If it is worth less than $2000 I would just sell it and get new car when you move. Plane is just too expensive and no point in even thinking that.
  4. Cali to Mass is about 3000 miles. If you feel your car can make it and you have the time, go ahead and drive it. However, with the cost of gas, you may want to consider having it shipped by train. It may be cheaper than boat or driving it. And unless you have some military access or something, I dont think it would be cost effective to have it sent by plane. Good luck!
  5. u can rent a u-hull it will carry all your stuff and you can put your car on a car dolly and pull it behind you. u-hall 29.95 a day dolly ? .
