I will be travelling to HK this Dec 08 with my family. Can anybody help me on the average cost of renting apt?
We (7persons) will be staying for 4-5 days. We hope the area to be accessible to food chains and public transport. Also, can we rent car in HK? We have international license issued from Philippines. Thanks ahead!

- Apartments are very expensive in HK and is only open to HK citizens. Their housing laws are quite strict in that matter. It would be better for you and your family to stay at a hotel or pension house, though I would recommend a hotel over a pension house there. If you are from the Philippines, there are houses there that are owned by Filipinos that offer accommodations for visiting family for a lower cost. I used to see those all the time in Filipino newspapers while I was in HK. As for hotels or hostels, my top recommendations are BP International Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui or the YMCA in Yau Ma Tei. These areas are at the heart of the main areas in HK on Kowloon Island with all sorts of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Public transport is not a problem in HK, they have a very good system that makes it easy to travel all over HK. Yes, there are car rentals in HK.
