Should Cars Be Outlawed and Restricted To Just Emergency use?

Limiting cars would help save the enviroment, stop drive by shooting and restrict the movement of criminals, child molesters. What is used in almost every crime, can be used as a deadly weapon, carries explosive compounds, can be bought with no questions asked and can be transported across state lines and international boundaries with little concern? Answer: A car I Public Transportation to take up the slack. Admitted: I posted this question as satire.

  1. are you nuts. ok so if there were no cars how the hell would law abiding citizens get to work. that is like banning the interenet so child molesters cant contact little kids. then you would have to ban parks and schools because they could just go there to find the kids.
  2. Sure and Herb should be free!
  3. Personal transportation will never go away. The risks of the use of individually owned automobiles do exist. But the risks of removing freedom of movement are far worse. Public transportation is nowhere near acceptable, let alone perfect. And as far as using one for violence, anything can be converted to violent purposes. This situation would never come to pass in an industrial nation.
  4. Please go immediately to nearest, highest bridge and jump. If you are serious then please remove your genes from the pool. Also think about it. By killing yourself it would do away with your carbon footprint thus helping the enviroment. All I ask is do your part for Global warming.
  5. sounds good...a great point really...planes too...outlaw them all.....
  6. If we got rid of cars society as we know it would shift. Transportation that is simple now would become hard and troublesome. People would have to work close to home and society wouldn't expand.
  7. only for you!
  8. Almost every criminal act involves a vehicle of some sort in some way. Every "Ban guns" arguement applies to vehicles even more so. Since most vehicle owning, law abiding citizens do not committ criminal acts with vehicles they oppose your suggestion; pointing out that they should not be punished, or have their rights forfeited, becasue of the acts of criminals. Which, of course, is the arguement for keeping the 2nd admendment unfettered.
  9. Also, most criminals consume bread of some form within a day before or after engaging in crime. We need to outlaw that as well.. Makes just as much sense.
  10. oh yes i agree.
  11. Dang it! I like the way you think! Messing with people's minds is a favorite past-time of mine! Glad to see it's not a lost art.
  12. I don't know where you're from, but where I'm from, there is no public transportation. If that was the case it'd be walk or ride a bike. And second of all, driving isn't a right, its a privilege (hence why you need a license). And another thing, just because some people can't drive and some use cars to commit crimes, that doesn't mean all of us who drive cars are bad people, those are a select few. Most are responsible drivers. And as for restricting criminals movement: that's what prisons are for, and when out of prison... they have legs. They can walk. Child molesters only have to walk to the nearest school, who said they need a car to commit a crime. Cars are a vital part of society today. I couldn't go to work, school, see my friends, or my family without a car. This is a horrible idea in my opinion.
