how does a singaporean obtain a china driving licence?

how can i obtain a china driving licence? i often visit china and it is really troublesome without transport. I wish to ride bike in china. I have chat with the china police, but they won't accept my international license. If i am catch by the police for riding without a licence, the bike (belong to my friend) will be in big trouble. The period of time i stay in china does not permit me to take the riding test in china. furthermore, i am not a china identity card owner, the local police will not allow me to take the test. I am fully confident that i can handle a bike without any problem. I have been in control of the machine for more then 10 years. I need any local advice on how do i apply for a china driving licence. related info: 1. I have full singapore issued driving licence for all type of cars and bike. 2. I have an international driving licence at singapore. additional info: 1. i am not working in china. 2. i am visiting in china guangdong - teochew (some country side town area) 3. I visit it about 4 time a year. each time lasted for 1-2 week (within 14 days) 4. i am visiting my wife's family becos my wife is from china. 5. i cannot stay for 1 month to take the test (mention by one of the answer). but the teochew traffic police didn't tell me this either. 6. the traffic police mind set is strong. my international licence is not recon by the whole dept in teochew. 7. for your additional info, my wife was given a singapore licence after she took a written test (MCQ of highway code) at singapore traffic police. of cos, she has valid china issue driving licence. If only china practice the same policy - all will be easy. 8. to drive without a licence, i think the punishment is the police will tow away the bike. go around in china with transport is a pain in the neck and very costly to take cab all the time appreciate all the advice i can get from u. many thanks. more additional info: 1. i do not visit bejing. the only place i go is my in law's town. it is in chao zhou (teochew). i will fly into guangzhong, or xiamen and take a bus to chao zhou. 2. it is in chao zhou town that i need to use a bike becos moving around with walking or bicyle is killing me. i just wish to ride a 120cc scooter. I do wear helmet and follow all safety rules. in fact, i believe i am the only person that ride safely in the town. 3. i have ride bike in many country. i even take part in cross country biking trip. 1. First of all an international driving license should be recognise by the Chinese government, have you talked to the Singaporean transport department?. It maybe that the police that stopped you are not aware. Do you have a work permit for China or just visiting as a business traveller?. I believe your international driver's license should be recognized.
  2. China do not recognised any other driving licence other than their own. You need to apply for a Chinese driving licence. Here is how I got it in Beijing, 1. Collect a driving licence application form Beijing Traffic Police at Beiyuan (5th North Ring Road) 2. Have your driving licence (country of origin) and passport translate into Chinese at a licence translator office (in Beijing, FESCO office at @nd Ring Road) 3. Go for a medical check-up. 4. submit your application form with translated document and medical test form at BTP. 5. They will give you a test date (about one month later) 6. Take the driving test, passed it and they will give you a driving licence. 7. the driving licence is valid for 5 years. Latest news is that all foreigner are required to take a written highway code test. You can ask FESCO to help you to apply on your behalf but they cost a bomb.
  3. To get a Motobike Licence is not easy, because China started to disallow motobikes in many main cities. Car Licence (C1) is no problem. Btw.: The previous answer is wrong. A licence is valid for 6 years not 5 and in whole Cina is no driving test for foreigner required,if you a license from your home country.
