Good places to travel in America alone?

I am 19 and from the UK. I want to go to America in the next week just for a random spontaneous trip. I want to go somewhere hot and that has relatively good public transport or that is close to loads of shops and restaurants. I was thinking about Orlando Florida and staying on International drive as there are buses that go to the malls etc.. and everything is close and quite safe (I have been there before) but.... I would also like to see more of America so maybe somewhere like Dallas, Austin, Houston, Atlanta etc....? Can anyone recommend somewhere that will be warm, quite safe and easy to travel around without a car?

  1. florida or LA
  2. u want warm weather?? LOS ANGELES babe lots of things to do.. lots of places to go and lots of pple to meet...
  3. My top recommendation would be Austin, a very eclectic, interesting place to visit--quite artsy and laid-back. Great shops, music and food, particularly if you want to get away from the ubiquitous American shopping mall experience. I would also recommend Memphis, Tennissee--a large, very southern city with a lot of blues and jazz influences and great food, but the safety is questionable in some areas. Research prior to arrival would be advised, should you choose to go. Atlanta is a beautiful city with nice shopping, beautiful old mansions, but I do not know much about the available entertainment. I hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!
  4. I would pick Miami over Orlando. Miami is more of an international city. South Beach is a nice area with great weather and everything you're looking for. You could rent a small apartment for your trip for a reasonable price. If you're in Miami you shouldn't care if the apartment is small, you're there to see the city. There's lots to do in South Beach and Miami. First rate public transport also.
