What is the cheapest, most reliable method of transporting (not driving!) your car cross country?
I am moving from LA to DC and refuse to make that drive. Any recommendations?

- um you can ship it through a freight company like the big ships. or you can put it on a train.
- do you have a friend that might be willing? maybe you shoudl turn it into a mini vacation and take your time stopping often to see the sights. Other than that if you put it on Amtrack you have to ride with it. and a vehicle mover will easily cost a grand. Ever think of maybe just selling the car outright and possibly buying a cheaper more reliable car for living in the city. if you are actually in DC you will not do much driving, so make sure to pack a good pair of tennis shoes
- Get in it and drive it. Take a plane home. Gas, food, lodging and air fare don't add up to shipping costs.
- Some trains can transport cars. But not on all routes.
- put it in neutral and push it.
