how are federal and state agencies funded? how does the gas tax factor in?

1. by fuel taxes and permit fees. the gasoline and diesel portion is the overwhelming majority of the source of their funds.
2. Federal agencies develop a budget which is approved by the President and sent to Congress for approval. State agencies are funded in much the same way with the governor submitting a budget to the state legislature. The majority of the gas tax, if not all, goes to funding transportation issues.
