Is Transportation From Shanghai Airport To Hotels Expensive?

I read on the net at a couple of sites saying that transportation from Shanghai Airport to Pudong/Hotels costs around $70 USD each way, is that right? That is HORRIBLE, I thought China was fairly inexpensive?

  1. that depends on where you are going and how to get there Bus is 12 - 20 RMB Taxi, could be pretty expensive Meglev is $5 one way and at the end of the line you can jump on the subway but it is not $70 that would be 490RMB, I have never paid that much
  2. From my experience: Maglev to Pudong: RMB40 Taxi Maglev Station (Long Yang) to any Pudong Hotel: RMB 20-50 Taxi Maglev Station (Long Yang) to any City Hotel: RMB 50-100 Taxi Airport to any City Hotel: RMB 80-200 (shanghai IS big!) From the Airport to Nanjing Lu should be 130 by taxi.
  3. I think that $70 some one must have paid traveling from the farthest corner of Shanghai to Pudong airport in mid night . The fastest and most economical way is talking a meglev to Long Yang Lu(RMB 50) and then hire a taxi (RMB 100-150 max for Pudong hotels ) .
  4. as the pudong airport is far fr the city now....not like the old airport. taxi fare wil be a more expensive than b4 but definately not US$70. i think that's the fare of hotel limo. so a taxi to pudong hotels wil be like aro US$16-18 only - one way. or even cheaper. me & my gf travelled SH all the time 4 business & we usually stay in those htls in the middle of the city.... we taxi e'time & it's like RMB$140 one way. if u r going to pudong area.. it's even closer. dun try their buses.... although cheap / not 4 tourists.
