  1. Since Hawaii is a tropical climate (close to the equator), the seasons don't change much. The only thing you may notice in the winter instead of the summer is that the waves are bigger on the north and east facing beaches, and it's a little colder when it rains. And, in the summer, it's susceptible to hurricanes. Since there is very little change in the seasons, the plants aren't really affected that much. Everything pretty much grows the same year round. As far as transportation, I'm not sure what you mean. With the larger waves, it can be hazardous to take small craft out onto the water. But, you can still fly into and out of the islands in the winter, and people pretty much drive to get around on the land.
  2. I am in zone 5, I get seeds from Honolulu, but so far not plants. The person I get seeds from also sends plants from time to time to different growing zones. But every one needs to pay attention to temps as to where the plant will be shipped. For example. If she were to send me a tropical plant, it would be best to do so in about the end of May to the first part of June. In late June to Aug the heat may be to much for it to survive. In the winter the cold would probably kill it. There are heating pads that can be purchased for a couple dollars to ship plants in cold months. But they only hold the heat for 40 hours, so you may have to pay extra for shipping to get it shipped in time. http://deltonaseashells.com/inc/sdetail/45775
  3. I think you mean "Transpiration" which is the evaporation of water into the atmosphere from plant leaves as they open and close their stomata depending on ambient conditions. Plants also transpire through their flowers, stems, soil roots and aerial roots. I didn't answer the question but I didn't think you meant "Transportation". But air temperature, humidity, the seasons, cloud cover or sun, wind speed and a number of other factors affect 'transpiration'. ....................................................
