Should I drive for Swift Transportation?
I've heard good and bad about trucking jobs with Swift but I'm not sure what to do. On one hand they are the largest company out there so they must be doing something right. But on the other hand I hear a lot of truck drivers that are not happy working for them. Any suggestions on what I should do?

- If I were you I'd work for Schneider National...I've too heard bad things about swift.
- I think you answered your own question. Swift is the largest trucking company in the nation which means they employ more truck drivers than anybody else. The "law of numbers in employment" tells us that as more people are involved, the higher the number of people that will be dis-satisfied and the higher the number of people that will be satisfied. For example, if you employed 10 people and 1 person was not happy with the job, that's only 10% of the workforce that is unhappy. Not bad. And since it's only 1 person it won't make the nightly news. Now if you employed 20,000 people, like Swift trucking does, and you still maintained the 10% unhappy rate like the first example, you would have 2,000 unhappy employees. But its still just 10% of the workforce. Since 2,000 people is a much larger group it now makes the nightly news and the group has more impact due to the larger size. But remeber the group size changed as a result of the total increase in highers. The percentage itself has not changed. So I wouldn't worry about what others say, the fact is all trucking companies, and every major employer, is going to have unhappy employees. What matters is whether or not your one of the happy ones. So do what you feel is right for you. If you do decide to work for Swift they have an online truck driver job application at http://swift.drivers-central.com
