  1. My friend, the big three. The bus, the subway and NJ Transit. Step 1: purchase a $4 MetroCard, and take the Q33 bus to the Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights/74th Street-Broadway subway station. If your flight terminates at the Marine Air Terminal or the Delta Shuttle Terminal of the airport, take the Q47 bus to the Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights/74th Street-Broadway subway station. Step 2: at the Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights/74th Street-Broadway subway station transfer to the "E" train (Blue Line). Take the Manhattan-bound (westbound) train from Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights to 34th Street-Penn Station. The transfer between the bus and the subway is free. Step 3: at 34th Street-Penn Station, exit the subway into the station and take NJ Transit's Northeast Corridor Line from Penn Station to Edison. Please follow the directional signs leading you to the Amtrak and NJ Transit Concourse. The fare on the NJ Transit from Penn Station to Edison is $9.75 one way. I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck Native New Yorker
  2. There aren't too many options. You can take a cab to NY Penn Station (34th St/7th Av) (about $45) and then take NJ Transit (N.E. Corridor line) to Edison station ($9.75 one way). Or take the M60 bus to 125th St/Lenox Av, then take a downtown #2 or 3 train (numbers in red circles) to Penn Station. From there take NJ Transit as indicated above. The fare on the M60 bus is $2.00. If you purchase a regular MetroCard (minimum purchase $4.00) you'll get a free transfer (encoded on the card) to the subway (and leave you with $2.00 still on the card). If you pay by coins on the bus, then there is no free transfer to the subway (you'd have to then pay an additional $2.00 to enter the subway) Then you could always take the cab all the way to Edison - probably cost around $150.00 or so (assuming you'll find a cab driver willing to go all the way out there). Too bad you aren't flying into Newark. It would be less hassle to get to Edison from there. (Newark AirTrain to Newark Airport station and then NJ Transit to Edison).
  3. Catch one of the Airport Express Buses to Port Authority (42nd Street) http://www.nyairportservice.com/page.php?id=31 it should be $12 one way, once in Port Authority, there should be several buses to Edison, NJ... Once at Port Authority, you can ask at the different help desks inside or you can look online ahead of time to insure you take the right bus to Edison.. Good luck...
