Scarborough or Mississauga in Canada.?

Please i need ur help in deciding which city to settle down in Ontario, canada. I have narrowed my search to these two cities. We have two kids under 4 yrs. I dont want to spend too much on housing. I would be working in toronto so is these places convenient i mean are there good public transport ? which is cheaper and best.

  1. Mississauga , if you have to. Mayor Hazel runs that place very well and Miller in Toronto is a socialist .Toronto's taxing the crap out of people and the debt is constantly growing .You are actually better of living in the GTA actually .
  2. I agree, Mississauga, especially if you don't know the city. They are both really part of Toronto anyway, you can get a bus or even subway into town pretty quick. However Scarborough has many pockets that resemble South Central Los Angeles, seriously, full gang wars. If you don't know where you are going, it could end up badly. It's pretty average as a whole, but some streets really are dangerous.
  3. I only work in Toronto but from what I have heard from co-workers and friends who have young children: Mississauga would have more to offer that Scarborough. The mayor in Miss... is amazing and developed this part of the GTA in such a way that it is "rich" with activities and possibilities for clubs, arts, etc... Scarborough has the beach and some good parks but not has many activities.
  4. I would choose Mississauga. It is cleaner, less crime, less congested and cheaper. Scarborough is actually just a part of Toronto since amalgamation. You would be subjected to higher land taxes, taxes that only citizens of Toronto pay such as land transfer taxes and vehicle registration taxes, even a coffee costs a few more cents when you cross the border in to Toronto. Scarborough has some of the highest crime in the city but it is not like South/central LA as Atom says. Atom obviously doesn't live in the area or frequent it. Toronto is safer than mostly any Canadian city on a per capita basis. Only Mississauga is safer in this category. Mississauga rated as one of the best cities in Canada in every category. The mayor was chosen 2nd for the best mayor in the world a couple years back. The city was well planned out from the beginning with many parks and it's easy to get around by car. Toronto has better public transit. We have the subway and the Scarborough LRT (light rail transit). To commute by bus from Scarborough to your job down town would be cheaper because you would only be paying one fare. To commute from Mississauga would mean paying to ride the Mississauga Transit to get you into Toronto and then paying to ride the TTC to get to your job down town. You could also take the train from Mississauga all the way in to the down town. I lived my first 20 years in Mississauga and my last 15 in Toronto. I really don't like the taxes in Toronto or the mayor, but it is still a wonderful place to live. I can get really good Carribean food up the street and really good Indian food down the street. Still, you can have all this in Mississauga but a little cheaper and a little less crime and pollution. You can't go wrong with either choice.
  5. You didn't mention if you have been approved by the Canadian Government as a Immigrant to Canada ? Have you applied and been approved yet ? If you have not been reading the Canadian news lately, you should find out what our unemployment situation is like, right now. MANY Canadians are NOT working, and many Canadians are applying for welfare, after having lost their jobs. You should be very cautious about leaving your country, to come to Canada. You may not be able to get a job here, of any kind. After all, we are going to hire our own Canadian citizens first, before you, a immigrant. Jim B. Toronto.
