What is the cheapest shipping option for a 2000lb bag of rubber mulch?

I need to buy rubber mulch for my child's playground. I found the rubber mulch cheap! for $300 from PA. They say however the shipping by freight is $700 but if I could find cheaper, could use. Anyone know of a cheap way to ship it? 17519 to 78209. They say they have a loading dock. I am residential

  1. The most important piece of information we'd need to answer your question has to do with the destination. Without knowing where the ton of mulch needs to be shipped to OR the city its coming from, its very difficult to help you. For instance, shipping by rail can be very cost effective. However without knowing the company's proximity to a train line or yours, it's difficult to tell if there would be other costs involved. Also is the company you're buying from flexible enough to deal with a more cost effective solution you might come up with? Are you willing to travel yourself? U-Haul could be a VERY cost effective way to transport the mulch. But again, that depends upon your situation and your location. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
  2. Freight is the cheapest. Some companies may be cheaper than others, but I doubt you will find anything significantly lower than $700.
  3. Don't waste your money, get some big wood chips, about 3 -5 inches worth. You can get a cubic yard for about 25.00 at a materials business.
  4. rent a u-haul and pick it up yourself.
