Anybody work for Swift Transportation?

I am leaving next tuesday to go through their training program. I was just wondering if anyone has worked for them? Is it worth staying with them for 6 mos or a year just to get my CDLs, or should I wait untill next year when my driving record reaches 3 years with no accidents and start with Schneider.

  1. I have been with Swift for 5 years. Yes it is worth it. Why do you want to driver for Schneider. Everyone I ever knew that worked there was unhappy. JB Hunt is better than Schneider. Why wouldn't you want to stay with Swift?
  2. they are about the WORST trucking company in the US. Stay very far away from them. Schneider would be better training and a better 1st job. Whoever you work for 1st- stay at least a year and be sure to follow all rules when you change jobs. If an employer reports you to DAC as a bad employee you will have a very hard time getting a job at a good company.
  3. My dad works for Swift, and has for about 6 years or so. I think maybe more. I don't know just how long it took him to get his CDLs, but I don't think it took him quite that long. Then again, times have changed. Swift is a great company to work for- they have a laid back atmosphere, and they really do care about their drivers. They also have awesome health insurance, both for the drivers and their families. They also give pretty big bonuses for not having any accidents, having things stolen off the truck (like merchandise- which does happen), a good safe driving record, etc. I would say not to wait, and get going into their program. The training they give you is excellent, and if you do decide to wait and go with another company, then their training shouldn't be as rigorous. I have to warn you, though, to not expect to be making good money right away. You have to go through 1-2 months training with an experienced driving mentor, who gets paid more and gets half of the miles you drive while under supervision, and the load amounts depend on the time of year and the weather conditions. For example, around Christmas, my dad made bank money, but now, he's been waiting for 4 days for a load in LA. Good luck, and enjoy your new experience!
  4. swift is the laughing stock of the road, we always picking on them, because most of them cant drive but it's your choice. P.S. SWIFT= SEE WHAT I F---UP TODAY
  5. Anyone or anything is better than Swift.
