Public Comments

  1. Hazardous Materials Regulations pertain to those who transport these goods in commerce or their business. Mostly, they apply to commercial vehicles. Compliance is just that, following the rules.
  2. These regulations are available at the DOT office. Its probably easier to get from a trucking company though. I could give you a web address out of the hazmat book but my copy is in my trunk which is frozen shut under a half inch of frozen rain.
  3. Please visit http://www.bmv.ohio.gov/pdf_forms/HSY-7605.pdf starting on page 81.
  4. These are regulations that anyone hauling hazardous materials must follow exactly. This means having the correct placards on the vehicle (signs identifying the product), keeping the emergency response book with the paperwork, keeping the paperwork with the hazmat material identified within arms reach at all times, having the paperwork correctly identifying the material, knowing what routes can be taken, knowing not to go through major cities or through tunnels, etc. The driver must know this and more and it has gotten more involved since 9/11. Knowing this and doing what is correct is DOT compliance.
