Location Transport

What does the Department of Transportation do with the dead animals they pick up from the streets?

I was told they are put in an incenterator (i don't know how to spell that, sorry). Is that true?

Public Comments

  1. usually, but there are sometimes exceptions, like for big game animals or livestock.
  2. Ours takes them to a place just off the highway and lays them in a pile. It's always a really cool place to see Bald Eagles and Vultures.
  3. Have you ever eaten school food? :) I think it varies by state. A friend had that job for the summer. They dumped the dead animals in a ditch out of town somewhere.
  4. Most of the time, they are burnt en masse, as it's the best way to dispose of the bodies and also the most hygienic way. But some companies or towns do have designated dumping areas for animal bodies.
  5. They send it to the local diner. The meat is usually half priced.
  6. I believe that sometimes they bury the dead animals and sometimes they just burn them.
