is amazon.com's guaranteed christmas eve super saver shipping reliable?

I ordered something from amazon on the 12th and every time I log in to check its status it reads 'not yet shipped'. will they just waive the fees the shipping might end up costing to get my order to me on time? or am I just going to get my items late? to answer any questions, all of my items were 'in stock' and all qualified for the free shipping. super saver shipping = free shipping on orders 25 dollars or more. I ordered gifts from amazon on the 12th and every time I check its status it reads 'not yet shipped'. will they just waive the fees the shipping might end up costing to get my order to me on time? or am I just going to get my items late? to answer any questions, all of my items were 'in stock' and all qualified for the free shipping. edit: it also said the expected date would be the 24th. basically, I'm wondering if anyone else ordered something almost 2 weeks before xmas and STILL received it late. sorry guys I'm posting this using my sidekick and for some reason everything happened to disappear so I pasted the same stuff twice. oops. phones suck.

  1. There is no guarantee, and if it ships late your charges will not be waived. This happened to me with a printer I wanted to get for my mother -- I will never purchase from them again! After I placed my order, I kept checking to see if it had shipped. It remained in limbo for days, then finally it showed that it had been shipped and my card was charged. Each time I checked to see when I could expect delivery, the UPS site showed that shipping information had not been received. Finally after a week, the Amazon site showed that my order had been returned to stock! It had never even left the warehouse -- then two days later the charges were reversed on my card.
  2. The problem with " this item qualifies for free shipping" catch is it's usually the LONGEST method of shipping. (for instance, instead of paying a few bucks more, you select free shipping and wait another week). I usually end up paying the extra money to guarantee it arrives on time. When you went to the check out, did it say how long it would take? It usually tells you that. If it's going to arrive after Christmas and they haven't billed you yet, maybe you can cancel your order and re-order it and select a different, faster shipping method. Good luck!
  3. There is no guarantee -- its the worst! I love ordering from them, but never do it this late in the game when it comes to Christmas gifts, never. And no, they will not waive any shipping fees -- I doubt there is any way to get your order to you on time -- unless maybe you contact the seller DIRECTLY (somehow) and pitch a fit. Maybe that will work -- but I think that anyone complaining about it sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher to them. But, try it. No harm in trying. I'm not sure what the "guaranteed xmas eve super saver shipping" entails, but there must be some kind of offer. Check out the fine print. Next year, order your items by Thanksgiving and you'll be all good. IDEA: Go to each item and Print out a Picture of It in color!!! Get a bunch of big boxes and wrap each print in a big box. Then, pay for shipping it to them once you get it!
  4. I ordered a load of stuff three weeks ago using Amazon's "guaranteed delivery by Christmas" and got an email today saying the shipping dates had been changed and I would not be receiving the orders until mid Jan. Amazon are unreliable and the break their "guarantees" all the time, so it's a gamble if they will deliver on time. They might, you never know. However if you selected free shipping they will not charge you for more expensive shipping.
