  1. Go to a local bike shop and tell them what you want. I have no idea of the distance you are riding. I may be wrong but it's sounds like you want a commuter bike.
  2. How far do you have to ride? The information you gave may mean something to you, but the rest of us have no idea where you live, in what city, what country. If you want the correct answer, you first have to ask a question that others can understand.
  3. if the path you take is a lot of dirt or gravel, try a mountain bike with full suspension. if you must travel on a road, get a commuter bike. if you're going to be biking a half hour try getting a touring bike with those bags. if you have to be lifting or pushing your bike, try to get one with a low weight. hope it helps!
  4. There is some good advice at: http://www.runmuki.com/commute/commuting3.html
  5. You should look at a hybrid. This is a combination between road and a mountain bike. It has road tires but as wide as a mountain bikes tires. Get a bike where you can put you things for work. The frame size is very important so that you have maximum control over the bike. If you ride early morning wear reflective clothes and put lights on your bicycle. How to calculate frame size: 1. Measure inner-leg length 2. Multiply it by 0.65 Example (you have an inner-leg length of 83cm) 83cm x 0.65 =53.95 =rounded off to 54 cm frame size.
